thanks to iococoi for sharing this video in the youtube thread:

Spoiler

but this definitely needs it's own topic

Ganbreeder:

Ganbreeder is a collaborative art tool for discovering images. Images are 'bred' by having children, mixing with other images and being shared via their URL. This is an experiment in using breeding + sharing as methods of exploring high complexity spaces. GAN's are simply the engine enabling this. Ganbreeder is very similar to, and named after, Picbreeder. It is also inspired by an earlier project of mine Facebook Graffiti which demonstrated the creative capacity of crowds. Ganbreeder uses these BigGAN models and the source code is available

----------------------------------------------------------------- >it's pretty damn IDM and I can imagine i'll be using it in the future for album covers or anything really.

----------->you can even download your creations in hi resolution if you like that thing.

I hope art tools like this start morphing closer and closer to allowing anyone to create the art in their mind without having to be an expert in technologies whose operation is fundamentally unrelated to artistic expression.  These are really cool and required only one tool to be created - the Ganbreeder GAN trainer.  But they're far from letting the user sculpt the results in their mind's image

I just know that I've never seen any art that comes close to the visuals of for instance even a low dose acid trip and I'm hoping some day it becomes a reality, probably through a combination of GAN based generative video generation and VR.  Once this comes it will change the game.  I want even a non-technical grandma to be able to spend an hour with this tool and create something she's satisfied with, through a combination of eye movements, verbal commands, finger based parameter modulation, and maybe some day mental focus (i.e. Neural Lace)

I really wish you could choose from any image you'd like with this system.

I think morphing a bunch of hardcore porn images together would be great.. Kind of an aphex/weirdcore thing.

I really hope it doesn't. There's too much art already and I think a lot of cool things are discovered through process rather than sitting around and dreaming up trippy acid visuals.  Ganbreeder is amazing though.
