  1. preloaded on PC and waiting... LOL @ 35GB of uncompressed audio because they wanted to ensure lower-spec machines would be able to run it.
  2. More PS4 "ultimate" remakes here and on the way: Dead Nation - upped graphics, DLC from the PS3 version included, lots of extras added (FREE now on PSN with PS+) PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate - PJS 1&2 in one package, enhanced graphics and lighting effects, coming soon I like these remakes of recent games (didn't think I would) - so far, most of them have been worth the effort!
  3. No, it actually has articulation, so I reckon it has a skeleton of sorts...
  4. I don't think it's a real cat - it's probably one of those Fur-real Friends:
  5. I finally gave up trying to find everything in Strider, and went ahead and beat the game with 94.8% complete. Now to go back for the other trophies. Fez finally coming to (all) PS platforms! I'll finally get to find out what all the fuss was about!
  6. OK, now that I've gotten it out of my head that the Strider remake is NOT an arcade-style action game and really is a Castlevania/Metroid-style exploration game (I will NOT say "MetroidVania"), I am really enjoying it - the levels are challenging, and not tedious to backtrack at all - once you get a new power, it's fun to go back to levels where things were locked away and uncover new secrets. The game world is HUGE too - really surprised at how expansive the detailed the level design is.
  7. It's interesting, since they are going for a 'cinematic' approach (odd aspect ratio that puts black bars on the top and bottom of the screen, and locking the framerate at 30fps so it's closer to film (so they say). XBone purists are crying about how The Order devs intentionally locked it at 30fps and that's OK, but the recent crop of XBone games are all 30fps (because of the lack of developer skill in hitting 60fps) and the PS4 nuts are LOLing at their inferior competitor. That being said, PS4 has sold 5.3 million units to date, ahead of their fiscal year target - and it doesn't come out in Japan until Monday. They'll easily hit 6 million sold by then. Unless Microsoft can turn things around quickly, this generation might belong to Sony. I was reading that the PS4 is outselling XBone by a ratio of 1.5:1 in North America and 2.5:1 in Europe. I'll try to find the article and report back. But yeah, even the new Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes comparison video shows the PS4 version being the superior version. That, plus, MGSV will be 1080p on PS4 and 720p on XBone, Xbox 360, and PS3. Thief follows suit. [youtubehd]60FqLOMOPgU[/youtubehd] Watch full screen in 1080p and you can spot the difference in certain aspects from the PS4 version to the XBone version. Notice the sky on PS4 uses a different shader/lighting technique than the other versions, including Xbone. The detail of objects far away in the draw distance is noticeably better on PS4. The Xbone is a decent system, and I'm sure the people who buy it will be just fine with their purchase. But clearly the winner here, in terms of strength and numbers, is PS4. It's rumoured that Amazon might be buying out the Xbox. If true, perhaps they can do a better job than Microsoft... who knows? Whaaaat? Amazon buying XBOX from Microsoft? No way - MS makes too much money on Live/XBOX. The biggest mistake (among all of the mistakes they made) was bundling Kinect - nobody wanted Kinect, and Microsoft didn't want to take a loss on it, so they forced it into the package, adding an extra 100USD - Anybody is going to choose something 100 dollars cheaper, especially when the reason the other item is more expensive is an addon you don't want to begin with. There's not a great leap in processing power from last gen to this one; it's basically more RAM and processing power, but we're not going from SD to HD, so visually the differences will initially appear minor - where you will see this gen shine is with all the little extras - granted those small details might get lost on most people. Another area will be the sheer number of things happening at once - comparing the previous gen Tomb Raider game to the "definitive edition" for this gen is a good example of this (fog effects, particles, many objects now animated instead of static, etc.)

  9. The entire Metal Slug series is great, and well worth a play through. In other news, Strider (PS4) is pretty good - not arcade like at all, more of a "metroidvania" (I hate that term) explore and backtrack style game. The visuals are good, but are somewhat generic - servicable would be a good word for it. Gameplay is OK, and challenging. Only played for about an hour, so further playing will see if this is overall a good game or not. I'd say it's worth the cost of admission (15USD).
  10. Strider remake out today on XBone/PS4/PS3/Vita - getting so-so reviews, but I am a diehard Strider fan, so I will be playing this. Also, Amazon has Tomb Raider: Definitative Edition for 40USD today! Expires 19 Feb.
  11. still happening but basically: gameboy advance games coming to wii u. new mario kart (8?) and donkey kong games that look really good. other nerdy games that i've never heard of. a new mario game that's been upgraded where you're carrying a mario baby or something that enters a bubble and then a timer comes up and you gotta do something to rescue it. a new japanese fighting game that's developed by some japanese nerd that's well known to nerds (entire trailer was in japanese) i'm missing a few things but that's what caught my eye That action RPG "X" (made by Monolith, the guys behind Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii) looks surprisingly good - lots of fast-paced action and mechs. Won't save the Wii U though.
  12. The classic Shump Ikaruga is also on Steam tomorrow, I believe. I wonder if you can turn your LCD portrait and lose the superfulous borders on the sides in landscape... I'll leave this still INSANE video of a guy playing the game two-player... one hand per player!
  13. The PS4 game drought is almost at an end... Rayman Legends Final Fantasy: A Realm Reborn beta (Feb 22) Strider Probably some other stuff I'm forgetting... Plus, Dark Souls II next month (PS3)!
  14. Goddamn Flappy Bird - the developer is making like 10-12K a DAY on ad revenue - game is frustrating as hell though, but in a good way.
  15. Yea DMC is surprisingly good. One of the better games of the genre, from what I've played. At least it had far less backtracking than DMC 4. Just defeated the "Spawn of Mundus" boss battle - these boss fights get better and better:
  16. Finally got around to playing the demo of the Puppeteer (PS3) last night - this game is amazing; how it didn't get more exposure/praise amazes me. It's really hard to describe, but the whole visual presentation is unlike anything I've ever seen, and had me grinning like an idiot the whole time. Still playing through DMC (2012 remake) (PS3) - still sounds/looks like a Hot Topic commercial, but this game is really well done and innovative. Fans of God of War would like it since the weapons and combat are very similar. The visuals are really well done, and the boss battle I just finished is a good example:
  17. Holy christ, was it even an HDTV? If it was, I'm guessing 720p.
  18. Looks like they were filming Doctor Who there...
  19. are you using beamer or are you just fullscreening it and doing airplay? Fullscreen with VLC and AirPlay - you would think streaming from iTunes to AppleTV == Fullscreen with AirPlay, but apparently not. Running CAT5e this weekend most likely. Gonna be fun! (thankfully the attic will be cool enough to work in versus in a few months from now) Also: Ended up converting the MKV file to AppleTV format with Handbrake, so if I ever watch it again, no worries.
  20. Damn... PSN (with PS+) has so many good games for cheap I want to play... but no time to! The Puppeteer - 7.00 Rain - 3.75 Tales of Xillia - 10.00 Enslaved: Odyssey to the West - 5.00 I might buy them since they're so cheap and hope one day I can get the chance to play them. I tried Don't Starve on PS4 (ironc title considering it's on PS4) - why are people hyping this game so much? Seems kinda boring.
  21. I suspect SquareEnix will go bankrupt eventually. Bravely Default is good though.
  22. Johnny Depp as Dr. Strange... for some reason I always saw Robert Downey Jr as Dr. Strange... obviously he can't now...
