slight bummer for florida and desantis in general: a florida judge he appointed (likely a RINO), now claims his congressional map "eliminated a Black district in North Florida and was unconstitutional" so he ordered the old boundaries restored.
“I am finding that the enacted map is unconstitutional under the Fair Districts amendment ... because it diminishes African Americans’ ability to elect the representative of their choice. I’m not going to order the Legislature to go back in session [to fix it]. I don’t really think that’s up to me.”

has anyone else watched this? started last night and it's pretty wild. it's a cross between MASH and platoon.
not sure why, but there is "a lot" of sexual harassment in the first episode. one girl breaks down after some guys get into a helicopter to spy on her when she's showing. for whatever reason, every guy in this is like SUPER horny. anyway, she tells a female senior officer to which she receives the following reply: boys will be boys. just toughen up. you'll be okay here.
cut to- robert picardo from VOY pinching a row of women's asses. one of them is chloe webb. WTF happened to chloe webb? i had such a crush on her.
also, a guy that looks like the bad guy from cobra playing an emotionally damaged soldier falls in love with the girl that was spied on when she was showering.there's also this black dude who's invited to a table by a colleague for drinks, but when he gets there everyone else gets up and leaves. he says "see, i tried so hard to be white, but black is cool again."
according to imdb: this show was well received and won a bunch of awards and had some actual vets working on it

"Let's be honest here. Joe Biden is unwell. He's unfit for office. He's incoherent, incapacitated and confused. He doesn't know where he is half the time. He's incapable of leading and he's incapable of carrying out his duties. Period. Everyone knows it. No one is willing to say it. But we have to, for the sake of the country. Joe Biden can't do the job."

when i was in middle school in the early 80s one of our teachers said that 900 people were moving to florida every day. it's completely different to what it was even in the 90s. so, florida has been growing for ages.. steadily for a lot of reasons. the growth is nothing new though. perhaps some spikes in recent years but it's been an attractive place for lot's of people to move to for a long time. there's a lot more people from central and south america too. that's a change from last 20 years i think.
also, newsmax? is an unreliable source on anything.
i was actually trying to follow newsmax's own logic. if covid is the reason they attribute to florida's "rapid" population growth, then wouldn't it technically be something that they would like?
maybe when this "state law" passes, newsmax might become the most reliable source on everything florida because then they'll have nothing but crime stats to announce

Crazy if this shit spreds to the rest of the world
if it does, we may need something similar to a green book to go with our 'plan b passports' so we know which nations (and cities) to avoid depending on which way they vote on certain issues. if things get too complicated, we can always build walls between us and it'll be easier to know where to go when you get to certain countries

this was great, but it's your typical 70s libertine 'coming of age' story with soul crushingly beautiful dames in 'barely there' dress

The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover
Recently revisited this classic and holy smokes it was even better on second rewatch! Amazing sets, costumes, soundtrack and acting all around. Packed to the brim with crazy attention to detail and mad tracking shots. Really just a perfectly executed film in my books. I'm wondering if anyone has any other recommendations from Peter Greenaway's filmography?!
finished the tulse luper suitcases television series. highly recommended for us greenaway peeps (me, @kichiguy and sandra chechik and nobody else.?)

florida stepping betwix democracy and freedom. WTF?
QuoteElon Musk and Twitter were sued on Friday by a Florida pension fund seeking to stop Musk from completing his $44bn takeover of the social media company before 2025.
The lawsuit also seeks to declare that Twitter directors breached their fiduciary duties, and recoup legal fees and costs. It did not make clear how shareholders believed they might be harmed if the merger closed on schedule.

ATLANTA (AP) — A judge in Georgia on Friday found that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Ga.) can run for reelection, rejecting arguments from a group of voters who had challenged her eligibility over allegations that she engaged in insurrection. But the decision will ultimately be up to Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.
