from the aphex store, a comment from RDJ on #19/Stone in Focus: "Thinking about this now I'd love to try and get Warp to do high quality chrome cassette versions of all my Warp musics, maybe even metal ones if possible. If I wait a year or so for this I could include all the extras on the cassettes as there would be plenty of room, would have to sign the tracks over to Warp first for a physical release, something I don't have to do for this website but that shouldn't be too difficult."

How long is this metal tape story now going on and nothing is released yet? 5 years? 6? He seams to bypass it by putting out these small „unofficial“ vinyl editions he gives out on festivals but that also explains their under-the-counter release format where they never appear in a regular distribution format

I'm also a fan. I like reading a few "chapters" every so often in between other things I'm reading. he's great at pointing out really obvious stuff most of us probably have a good idea of, but have difficulty articulating about the creative process. it actually inspired me to start recording music again, as opposed to constantly noodling about.

Yeah exactly he really points to these core issues you get stuck during the creative process and how to change your mindset about it. I don’t know any book that does it in a similar way

  3. just got this one. I was pretty sceptic at first due to the big font size and the abstract writing but I like it a lot actually.

its nice. Would make a fun movie but don't expect anything too fancy. I did not finish it yet as it got a bit stale during the 2nd part. still a fun read

    s. And be careful to not ask too many questions in one session. Because the longer the chat, the worse ChatGPT performs. After a while, it does become rubbish. So basically, if you haven't got a good solution after three questions, you're better off starting over anew with a different approach. As opposed to keep on trying in the same chat. Because it will hallucinate after a while.

yeah I had the same experience. I  always restart with a better promt when asking coding questions and almost never start a conversation about it. the worst results are when you tell it to correct itself instead of starting a new session

caude.ai also got an update recently which made it perform better than GPT. I gave it another spin today and the results are really great so far: https://claude.ai/chat/

s a software engineer I fucking wish I could just let AI generate the code for me by describing the problem, and we actually have an access to to a kind of "corporate" version of an AI at work but it sucks so much at programming. It can only solve the easiest most generic problems you can find in a computer programming class. Like, whoop-de-doo, another implementation of Dijkstra's algorithm but now in Rust. I wish my job was just solving basic programming puzzles all day, but it's actually mostly battling with undocumented idiosyncrasies of different frameworks and systems that the AI has no knowledge of. Well, I can still use it to flesh out bug reports or whatever.

did you try to feed a custom GPT4 actual documentation in PDF form? You can feed it couple of books and make it look in there before answering

GitHub Code Pilot also just received an update that made it much better and now you can actually talk to it instead of just letting it generate code

Only played this album once and I didn't pay too much attention. Sometimes I'm not in the mood for Thom Yorkes vocals, I have to be in the right frame of mind and I guess that's not the case at the moment. I didn't play In Rainbows (funnily enough my favorite) for a few years after release because after The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A and Amnesiac I was burnt out with him. Sometimes I don't play any Radiohead for a couple of years then all of a sudden, like a flick of a switch I can't stop playing them. Strange but true.

It’s a good thing. I am the same I don’t force it on me sometimes it just fits to my mood and then it’s great also pretty dependent on current season

I think the mistake people make is when they officially signal activity (not pussy likes on social media) like black box placeholder for TH or Pioneer thing on Hell Interface, folks think it's gonna be a few months for a new album when it's actually gonna be a few years. I'm not sure why they (BOC) do this. Maybe it means the project is pretty much wrapped up, and then they and close friends live with it for a few years (I'm sure they have said they do this) and just make minor tweaks to the finished mix. Something like that.

If you don’t live from music you can take as much time as you like. Which is a good thing

Expensive, but it will be the last bit of vinyl I buy this month. (unless a record conforms to essential purchase classification)

If I could perhaps add more temptation, have you seen the Folio Society editions for Dune?

These look extremely awesome but £100 for a book is quite an investment. Really tempted with this

That would brilliant if there was, but by this time with the first soundtrack, it was already announced so maybe not.

Yeah I just directly compared the sketchbook to the current one and the sketchbook sounds much richer and the themes are much more nuanced. I think I am not going to buy the current vinyl as the other one is so much better
