    17 minute remix???

I'm stoked because it's Autechre doing it and not the usual suspect of Ricardo Villalobos. His Shackleton remix had to be split in two for the vinyl release, digital copy is 19+ minutes.

One of his newest remixes is 45-minutes-long

    :cerious:

I think It's unintentional fuck off to Juan & Maurizio, the old masters. Metroplex needs a remix of mine? What an honour. Guess what, I'M RICARDO VILLALOBOS AND THIS IS WHAT I DO BEST *throws an unedited 45 mins length of respect*

Knowing he has a respect for Ae too, they should ask him to remix something just to see how Warp handles 2 hours.

  2. Who here is keeping up with the comic? Is that still going strong or wavering yet?

I have the 2 compendiums (so issues 1-96).

It's the same shit over and over. Location to stay for eternity, reason to leave it behind aka evil guy, new location, new evil guy, sex chat in between everything, zombies chilling out in the background. All the raw parts are done already, so the moral shock coolness is also almost gone.

I would say that the best product in regards to TWD is a video game by Telltale. It has your typical melodrama, but giving you a sense of participating in comics/series is a refreshing take.

  3. 17 minute remix???

Likely it's a long track in itself, both original and a remix use the whole vinyl side according to descriptions. Almost everything Ae done in a decade remix-wise is some kind of a little-to-none alteration of original.

  4. There are test pressing pictures on his facebook now.

Did a search for this stuff. Found the original track Dilankex (unreleased before as it seems) on Andrea Parker mix at S13. Track slowly fades in at 55:22 and plays for 4 minutes.

It looks like some English post-electro commemorative, this label Aperture. Andrea Parker is a host. Releases primarily Oberman Knocks, but also has archive collab by Mira Calix & guy of Seefeel and did a remix EP with the likes of Plaid, Quinoline Yellow, Kero and Bitstream twins.

  5. In the line of shameless requests, i thought i could try one, too.

You did countless mixes for various shows throughout your career, what do you think of doing some sort of an unmixed compilation for once for us? No time constraints for doing it, of course. I'm being inspired by your "interview" bit from the 90s and Headphone Highlights shows i recently caught on the web (examples: Mark Fell, Mr Oizo). The format is, say, 10 largely unknown tracks which were/are important for you and you think you could share. You also do a short comment on it, i don't know, spitting rhymes or whatever, you knew how to do this shit based on IBC recordings.

I'm doing dick sucking work for Joyrex here actually, i hope you're into it since a lof of memories are reversed already.

What did you guys think of Lynch's Inland Empire?

it's my fave thing he's done

it's weird cos a lot of my mates slagged it cos of the film quality, but i reckon it appeals to me even more than film cos i like some old video art as well

the way it flows is amazing tho

it's sad that he said he won't do any more, but he's old and i like enough of his music for it not to be a huge deal. but man, he was getting so good there

He's certainly not retired yet. There was an article on him in NY Times this year mentioning he's working on a new script, which wasn't denied by Lynch

    http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/24/magazine/david-lynch-transcendental-meditation.html?partner=rss&emc=rss&smid=tw-nytmovies&pagewanted=all&_r=2&

    The quote:

A few months later, I reached Lynch by phone at his hotel room in Paris. Bob Roth had told me that Lynch said he was working on a new script and that it was typically dark. When I asked Lynch about this, he paused, annoyed. “Bobby’s got a big mouth,” he said. I asked him if the script was influenced by his work with T.M., and he said no, absolutely not. This will be a David Lynch picture, he said, adding, “I think people would probably recognize it.”

  7.

What is the first track you play for people that have never heard you before?

i had a guy round fixing my boiler a couple of years ago when i was doing tac lacora so i played him that cos he was asking

he just said 'who listens to this then? loads of guys sitting in their houses smoking weed?'

and i went 'yeah, pretty much'

It's called Zen music in popular culture

omg this wasn't a draem! sup autechre!!!!

what do you think about flying lotus his music? imo i think he's great and has a lot of talent he uses well

why didn't he ask you for a track for gtaV that would have been awesome

i really like the track he did with earl

hoping he does more straight up hip hop stuff tbh, he's good at it

    is it this earl?

    More likely Earl Sweatshirt

    [sc5]105561440[/sc5]

There's another song with him on Captain Murphy's mixtape

    [sc5]69313963[/sc5]

    Both good i would say

    Hello Autechre!

Just wanna to ask, is there any meaning or purpose behind track title, like, Osla for n? And how should I say L Event, like event "L", or something different?

    Thanks for the answer!

i can't get into specifics really regarding titles

you can say things however you like

why does Exai sound like it made using an Analog Four?

Do you think Ben of zoviet france lost the dats and/or messed up the recording and just doesn't want to tell you?

Why was your Dalglish remix never officially released?

i got no idea, i never owned one

but i take it as a compliment cos it means you're hearing some of our dsp progging as analogue (which was the intention)

yeah maybe, or he just doesn't want us to have it, or he doesn't like it or whatever

    no idea, ask chris

I asked him about that remix a couple of years ago, to add to the discussion. He told the guy behind Mesk label will not get it together and it's healthier for Chris to not have anything to do with him.

  10. Ah right. Thanks for the clarification. I forgot about that.

Any link to that interview w Sean?

I can't find that site, probably isn't there anymore. Maybe Aefx would post it here (if i'm correct that he's the one who managed the site).

It was very short, the weirdness came from the questions being compiled from local fans, for whom Autechre was still something mythical, with questions like what you wear, what you like to eat and how to understand your music, is it understandable at all? Sean did it hardcore fuck off style.

  11. Does anybody know who this "Alexander Vinokurov" is? Same source as that L-Event fake leak, no?

This is Aefx's name, he just re-uploaded the tac Lacora leak to his account on ge.tt to share. He compiled a lot of cool things when he was managing Ae fan site back in the day. There was even a web interview with Sean Booth at the most quiet period of their career (after Untilted), the weirdest of them all and my favourite.

  12. I find the melody to be intentionally idiotic of sorts, like "don't like it, aren't you? keep hearing what i will do to it" and the second half opens it. My only concern is the new attitude of reverbing the shit out of anything to make it sound impressive. I think closing track on Oversteps developed this idea enough.

  13. Joseph is right, he has a Shostakovich avatar :) For those who don't know: Shostakovich>Ae.

This is so cute, two people with Shostakovich on the avatar in an Autechre forum. Who would have thought. I agree that Shostakovich has more letters in it than Ae and even Autechre for that matter.

  14. For a 4-tracker it's really neatly structured like 4 sections of a single composition, there's the intro and there's the ending. They've become a bit predictable on ending though, since Quaristice it follows a very same-ish pattern of heavy and prolonged reverberation and archetypical stuff like that

  15. Say goodbye to Daryl. He shook that infected kids hand. No point to the scene other than setting that up.

It could easily be the other way round. The kid was good before shaking hands and Daryl preliminary licked his fingers like it was a gang bang prelude. Maybe he's immune to the initial infection (given that he didn't fuck with the lesbian haircut chick) or some new animal sort of infection (which he brought in by killing said deer).

The show is total shit, unwatchable.

  16. Beatwork and percussion sounds (mostly hats though) in Osla for n (track 3) strongly reminded me of this track from Grischa Lichtenberger

    https://semanticarecords.bandcamp.com/track/a3-grischa-lichtenberger-atm-semantica-37

It's funny because when asked about Autechre influences on his raster-noton LP Grischa said that he's inspired and stuff but his rhythm "culturisation" has more to do with rock music than hip-hop roots of Ae, yet here they are walking really close in rhythm terms. It's like the snare sound of Grischa's track became free wheel and started to live its own life at some point.

In conclusion, I find the barking sound to be wicked awesome and quite an unexpected manoeuvre.

  17.

Also, regarding the FLACs, do they not become 16bit after encoding? I suspect so because I once tried burning a 24bit WAV (of 'see on see', as it happens) to CD without success, encoded it as FLAC and then the burning went through smoothly.

These FLACs are 16-bit, cost as much as WAV 16-bit and you still got an option to download WAV 16-bit when buying FLAC, but there is a possibility for FLAC to be 24-bit, too.
