Is there a way to purchase the ae track independently? I just recently overpaid for Caustic Windows files, don't want to throw another 12 bucks on the run of the mill compilation, not a fan of those.

I haven't listened to it yet but from that line up it could be killer!

edit: but 30 seconds of Gas pftt c'mon

It's a decent line-up, but you know, nobody cares for comps as much as Ae, giving away their second tier options.

  3. yeah but do you really need any other filter except your own ears? why do you need a label to define what is good or not? just because a track is on rephlex records, does that mean it's somehow "better" than something self-released on bandcamp?

You need filters to get your attention in the first place. Say, there is a 1000 releases on bandcamp on some bright sunny day in future. How will you listen to "good" unknown stuff? If you go by basic filters like genre, the math is that you won't meet music for your liking in a month of mildly enthusiastic surfing. Label must be an equivalent to certain specific taste, so you don't need to do unbearable amount of listening every time you want to listen to something new. That said, the distribution model may rest in past, true.

  4. Regarding Edward Bailey, here's the only worthy mention of his last name i have found, from notorious GWC interview to italians. It's also believable that this hypothetical mate didn't played the vinyl and kept it for rarity's sake.

How did you pick up so many italian artists in the 90s? Like me, Lory D, Leo (Anibaldi)?

I don’t know (and he laughs)… Like everywhere there was an underground techno scene, squat parties and stuff, hard music; and that music, it was a bit like the Spiral Tribe, but the Spiral Tribe parties weren’t quite good enough, so there was like other parties where there were a little bit more discerning about the music. I’m not dissing Spiral Tribe, it’s wicked, but it was just a slightly different scene. And… I remember one girl called Cosmic who people in Italy, in Rome probably known… Her name’s Kim and she had Antisystem on vinyl and this dude (Jason Mendonca or Bob Bailey. Editor’s note) who lived up the road from me, he ran these parties called VFM (Value For Money, an old hard techno gabber party in London. Editor’s note), he had Antisystem as well and that’s where I heard of Lory D – I was like – I couldn’t get it, it took me years to get that record. I had the CD but I just wanted the vinyl.

    what if it's shit?

    That's fucking impossible.

Dunno . The leaked tracks are shit

What's not shit in AFX discography in your ears?

10% are genial, 20% fantastic, 10% more than good, 30% good and the rest are pure shit

So if it's only 30% that's shit, give some examples of it, like full releases if possible.

Impossible. Would you say that EVERYTHING that he has released is great ?There are loads of tracks i skip in Analords ( btw i got the whole set on vinyls ) but among there for instance ; are some very very fine tracks but also some really "not so good" tracks. I will figure 80 min. is really great the rest is not for listining pleasure :-)

every fart from rdj is not a work of genius :-)

It's interesting that you're implying that i like everything by RDJ when it's you who said 70% of his stuff are not shit while i have much less shit ratio. I just think Caustic Window, especially this LP judging by a couple of tracks in the air, is one of the biggest achievements by RDJ. I do not think that, say, SAW is this special, for example.

  6. I'm keen to see what their next LP will constitute. More of this? A complete 180 not unlike oversteps? I'm probably wrong on both counts. Trying to accurately predict what these guys do next is nearly impossible.

    More idm

  7. Haven't kept up with the comics for about a year (when they meet the Jesus dude) but it got to a point where I think the only other direction they could really go in is to find some sort of government and explanation for the outbreak, some sort of ending. I thought they did everything great with the storyline that could be done without being redundant and shark jumpin

In no way they (or he, Kirkman) would go for an explanation though. They're milking it as with any ongoing comic shit. Could go for a decade at this point.

Jesus dude turned out to be gay.

Even the last decent place for this story - the Telltale's game - gone into bullshit mode recently, resurrecting a character who clearly should have died if not for this idiotic rule of no death on screen = isn't dead.

  8. I'm gonna say that Y. Beckhirst is winning this thread so far, but Farrah and Tykylevits are great competition.

    Edit:

Oh, and the OOBE/Snickers guy as well. Shit actually I don't know who my favorite is. Y. Beckhirst is probably the most "outsider".

I hope that you're ironically applying this worn out paradigm of winning the competition in regards to outsiders' music.

  9. I stumbled on an interesting comment on Youtube. Someone mentioned that the track "Rainy Dub' could possibly be a remix of Vladislav Delays track 'Poiko'...or an uncredited sample. Strange

Cant find Poiko on youtube unfortunately.

    http://www.doob.fm/music/Vladislav+Delay/_/Poiko

There is a close similarity of the main melody sound and its textural background, it could be a pitch-manipulated sample. Even the name of it - Rainy Dub - is more suitable for Delay's track. Hilarious how WATMM unconsciously referenced Delay and got in an argument.

  10. this thread has inspired me to make up a joke

it's not going to be good though

    better brace yourself

    maybe sit down even

    ok here goes

what did Rob and Sean say when I told them I wouldn't take my little sister to Disneyland?
