  1. very oversteps melodically, very a.d.d. and aggro, lots of vocals. the second half is more enjoyable on the first listen.

so far hmmmm/10. but there are def reasons to come back for.

Good comparison, I thought it sounded a lot like Oversteps too, which I love, but this is way more over the top. Some very cool baroque melodies. I really like this on first impression. Although as someone else suspected even though the files are 320 I'm not sure this is in the intended quality. Like others have said "Sticky Drama" is the one track that I'm not sure about, but I'm really intrigued to come back after my first listen!

This guy lives down the street from me! Really nice dude, he plays at local bars here in Brooklyn and is a good time all around.

Super late on this post. You live next to Dick? Nice. Electric Six have some dope albums. Fire, ISEEAMTPMFNTM, Switzerland and Kill being my favorites.

Tyler is his real name but yeah. Down the street from me an my friends are next door neighbors with him and his wife. Pretty cool to run into him at parties as I was a fan in high school and college.

this is a modern epic. take the time to watch the whole thing.

Great little slice of any given day in NYC. For those not from here, Wendell (the guy in the crazy outfit that got his hat stolen) is kind of a minor celebrity. Former crackhead and now a homeless fashion icon.

is the kid like tripping on acid ?? seems very emotional and tied to that hat for some reason...

"I was telling a story", i.e. he was acting. not derelict/mentally ill as I thought, so I can't really sympathise. definitely still a weirdo though.

I find that stuff fascinating. this whole channel is full of street life shit.

I'm biased since I live here but NYC is the greatest city in the world for this kind of shit. I've been here close to 10 years so a lot of days I'll go out of my way to avoid stuff like this, but if you're in the mood you can just chill around this sort of craziness whenever you want. Speaking of, going to see what's out there right now. Hope I don't run into that lady and her dog...

  4. Made a spontaneous mix of some of my favorite tracks this weekend. 23 choice cuts over 80 minutes. Made it quickly but it came out really well I think. If someone could delete the dupe post above this that would be great. Tried to embed and it got all fucked up.

  6. Awesome, glad some people here like it. My friend and I are working on a new one that I think is going to be the weirdest yet, visually at least. Pretty excited, I'm in the process of mixing the audio now so sometime in 2015.

  7. Not quite sure if it could be considered bonafide vaporwave, but I made this video Memorex a couple years ago which is an hour long mix of tracks somewhat in this style paired with cutup footage of 80s commercials. It's been posted on the forum before but I didn't even know what vaporwave was back in 2011 when I started editing this, so it's cool to look back and see a similar aesthetic that has been emerging over the past couple years.

There are some other videos on my Vimeo channel with a similar style if you like this one.

    has this been posted?

Woah, this is my hometown from the year after I was born. Super personal vaporwave.

  8. Wait, why is everyone getting up super early for the site if it's a lottery anyhow? Doesn't a lottery imply random selection? I would love to go to the NYC one but I wake up early all week, I'm sleeping in.

  9. Cover says something about a listening party in Paris? There is also a bit about CDs being sent out for UK radio promotion? We will hear previews, I magine.

Listening party in NYC too. Now how exactly do I get invited to this shit?

*dons press pass and fake mustache*

  10. You're an absolute super star - this'll keep me going for a long long while. Incredible stuff

Thanks, that means a lot! There's some great stuff in the compilation videos, some very talented weirdos out there.

Ultimately my dream is to program an internet channel that would have weird shit from us, contributors, and other insanity we find across the internet. It would be a full time job but I'm surprised nobody is really doing it well. A cross between early 80s MTV, Adult Swim, and the supercut/mashup scene seems like it would appeal to so many people like somebody mentioned earlier in the thread.

Anyhow, thank you all for the support, I get kind of restless if I'm not always creating stuff and it means a ton that people are actually checking it out and enjoying it.

  11. Glad this thread is still kicking! Thanks for all of your support guys, happy to have some Smash TV fans here. Missed this a couple weeks ago as I haven't been on the forum as much lately. There's definitely some new stuff since I last posted here.

First off, there's a new full length VJ mix like Skinemax and Memorex called "Gunslinger". This one is quite a bit different as it's all themed around the Old West, came out pretty cool I think, was certainly a unique challenge to make.

    https://vimeo.com/92271187

You might have also caught the mashup of all the times Christopher Walken dances in movies that blew up a couple months back. Huffington Post unfortunately took it down but that was secretly Smash TV too.

    https://vimeo.com/90407771

And then there's the Show and Tell and Intermission series posted earlier which are compilations of favorite stuff from other people that we show in between our screenings whenever we take over a theater for a night. Like 5 hours of stuff to watch when you're wasted, great fun. All the videos can be found here:

And if you know my work as Sparkle Motion, I've been cranking out mixes still, lots of good stuff in here!

Sorry for the deluge of videos and music but you have no excuse to be bored now! A sequel to Skinemax is in the works but I'm taking a break from the longform stuff for a while, this has eaten up like 3 years of my life. Nice that it seems to make people happy though. :cisfor:

  12.

This release is so great! Especially the first two tracks. But I am worried 'L-Event' means 'Last Event' and that there will be no more Autechres.. :-(

Rob says it's actually meant to be Lianne-Event and you're supposed to hate it for exactly 7 months before having a complete change of heart. Looks like an abject failure in that respect, since almost everyone likes it. Better luck next time, The Chre.

    Lol-Event

  13. you both are so screwed in the head

Composition and production wise, I'm a fan. Just one of those Autechre releases where the actual timbre of the songs gives me a horrible headache. Something about that unfiltered high frequency noise that goes right through my skull. It's the same on all of my least favorite tracks like Djarum, Second Bad Vilbel, Blifil, Cap.IV, V-proc, Reniform Puls, Ipacial Section, and Fermium. Pretty much the only tracks I dislike in their whole discography and this whole EP reminds me of them. However much I like the composition, it's literally painful to my ears to listen to stuff like this. Too bad as it sounds quite interesting from a composition standpoint, but a whole release of this is just not my cup of tea.

  14. It pains me to do so, since I'm almost always a defender of new albums and EPs and like them right off the bat, but after three listens, this might be my least favorite Autechre ever.

There are moments in the first two tracks that I enjoy, but there's that harsh and grating sound palette (to me) that I haven't really heard since Gantz Graf or Draft (my least favorite period for Ae, although I love ISS:SA). I like the second half of tac Lacora, and the ambience in M39 Diffain might be cool without that horrible "bassline". Osla for n just gets boring, there isn't enough in there to sustain it for 8 minutes. Newbound I quite like but it's not enough to salvage this EP.

It's crazy that I love almost every moment of Exai, a two hour long album, and dislike almost everything in only 30 minutes here. Just glad they were separated into different releases so Exai is still killer! Will keep giving it a try but it's been 10 years since an Autechre release turned me off so immediately so I'm not expecting much. Can't win em all!
