    Thanks for your feedback. I rescind my comment and mean no actual offense/personal attack towards the people who were hating on the album. Just seemed like there was a big clump of it all in one place, and seemed a little excessive. I notice this type of thing around here from time to time and find it a bit irksome, especially as most of us are in our thirties or older and ought to be a lil more mature. It is a public forum after all and I think some longtimers still treat it like a private club.

    Anyway, as you were.

    Compared to the rest of the internet these days I'd say this forum is surprisingly mature and polite. Not perfect but way better than average.

    I have something controversial tot say. I haven't returned to sign or plus since they released. Idk, even though i put them on my fav albums of 2020 list it doesn't sit right with me.

    Ae's music has been like this for me since Quaristice. It's music I admire more than I enjoy.

    my take is that there are amazing tracks on all of them so far and you're a fool for not listening to everything he puts out. sifting through it all is part of the fun. the lesser tracks put you in colundi headspace and uncovering a gem is a great discovery

    He's put out some of my favorite electronic music over the last few years and I've bought everything he's put out. I think I'm going to have to start being more selective though. I'm definitely going to keep listening.

  4. 2020 was full of album disappointments for me. A ton of the stuff everybody loved did nothing for me. In general I'd rather just keep quiet than trash somebody else's work so I haven't posted much about these.

    Luckily there were also tons of records I loved this year. Music was just about the only thing that wasn't horrible in 2020.

    I can always count on you to catch my references from like a quarter century ago. You also must be painfully old

    A quarter of a century is nothing!

    Those Sun Electric records still sound good to me in the right mood though. Takes me back to listening to them on San Francisco trains on my discman.

  6. Now that Bleep's top 50 is out and I can compare it to Boomkat's I have to say I'm just not aligned with Boomkat's tastes much anymore. They seem to be trying way too hard to identify music they think is important by the ever changing standard of the day than they are to find music that's just enjoyable to listen to. Too cool for school but not fun.

  7. As much as I really like a lot of the stuff he's done in the last few years I do wish he'd do a bit more editing. It feels like these four albums could have easily been just one of 100% strong tracks. I now have 24 albums from him in my collection and I'm not sure I have room for very many more.

    Glad to read I’m not the only one around here to love Jam City / his 2020 LP. Such a talented producer.

    Yeah that was one of my most pleasant surprises for me since none of his earlier stuff did much for me. His new direction is great.

  9. 2020 Best

    * Kelpe - Run With The Floating, Weightless Slowness

    Gentle, bucolic sync synth meditations that were much needed in the early months of 2020.

    * KhalilH2OP - Seid

    Chaotic, cut up urban soundscapes that feel genuinely futuristic.

    * Leo Takami - Felis Cats and Silence

    A quiet, joyful interplay of jazz guitar and ambient interludes that really work together.

    * Nathan Fake - Blizzards

    Shuffled, shifting beats and great sound design.

    * Nubo - Nu Vision

    Intricate Japanese neon sound collage out of left field.

    * V. Kristoff - Sydra

    If anything deserves to be called dreampunk it’s this.

    * Autechre - Sign

    Autechre makes their prettiest and most enjoyable album in years.

    * Domenique Dumont - People on Sunday

    Electronic listening music of the first order.

    * Fools - Fools Harp, Vol. 1

    Grizzly Bear’s drummer tries his hand at library music thing with excellent results.

    * Hotspring - Obit for Sunshade

    Ruminating post rock daydreams.

    * Jam City - Pillowland

    Noisy pop anthems with tenacious hooks.

    * Kevin Morby - Sundowner

    The apocalyptic American folk record somebody had to make this year.

    * Dylan Henner - The Invention of the Human

    Hypnotic vocal collage.

    * Quicksails - Blue Rise

    Prog electronics that’s not afraid to get noisy to get the point across.
