Does everyone (anyone?) see the opening track as being, basically, acdwn1, assuming acdwn2 from elseq is a radical reinterpretation of the live track?

really like this idea. mine would probably have all those bits at the end of sets where c7b2 shows up in one form or another. Trying not to just go to the last 10 mins of each set, but there's so much music it's always a temptation. Yaeh, as more and more official titles for some of the pieces contained in the livesets have come to light (thanks to Elseq & NTS), identifying various stretches becomes increasingly possible. Some of these AENA sets also contain recognizable bits that weren't in the previous AE Live downloads (Latent Call, etc.).

I don't have a problem with it, when somebody has this associations - that's subjective. If this is your association, who am I to question it? Personally I have relatively seldom picture associations to any music, and if, they vary from my personal mood. This morning (it was almost dawn yet) as I was listening to Session 4, to all end I saw a seeshore, with huge waves breaking on the cliffs. It's cliché too, but it fitted the music, I was enjoying it. But I know, the music isn't "about" the ocean, and I could have any other assiciations too. Perhaps I will in the future. But if in a review this is the only way, somebody tries to descibe a music (it's a hard job, I know), then I find it a bit lazy. Because it's only a subjective association, and says more about the person, who has this assiciations, as from the music itself, you know? All I want to say: this pictures don't help to descibe or to comprehend the music - at least not for me. I'd much rather be exposed to these cliché associations, for sure, than the more literal "I hear a broom" or "cat" or "woodpecker" that we've been doing a lot of lately.

Yeah and oneum in turbile epic casual, stpl idle edit: don't hear t exx xi in t1a1 though t1a1 almost turns into a cover of Zeiss Contarex, but it seems to stop just before completely transforming. That doesn't have the same context as what you're talking about, which is more about different bits of their Max kit getting recycled, but still interesting.

While NTS might not be their most accessible release to date, have you ever heard of this little album called Confield? I find Confield much much more accessible than the NTS sessions thus far. Yeah, while I don't find the NTS sessions particularly challenging, I agree. I was mystified when Confield was released and met with such controversy as it was. I found it to be pretty identifiable and logical as a follow up to everything that they'd done from '96 on. The consistently gritty, ominous emotional quality of the record seemed like more of a departure than shifts in the music itself. Now, NTS is a bit more minimal, so far, than what most of the recent live material might have us expect, but a lot of elseq is very minimal as well – some of it almost frustrating in that (part 3's 2nd track especially). I think some interesting self references are going on. Specifically familiar sounds recalling ep7, Quaristice, and Oversteps. Odd.

Have you checked out Grischa Lichtenberger? His last records on Raster-Noton have been pretty Autechrean.

Yes, I agree. That bit in the Slovenian interview is what actually triggered my thinking of it again. I had been kind of wondering if that material would be distilled into a single, individual-tracked "album" or document of some sort which might be available as a physical release, but unless it becomes part of some sort of archival boxed set (or something to that effect) in the future, I kind of doubt that it will happen. It seems that they've moved on, which certainly doesn't surprise me.

I haven't heard (or read) any rumblings of additional (North American leg) live 2015 sets in a while, and I suppose that the ship may have sailed on that. It's a bit of a shame as what we heard over here in the fall had some substantial alterations from the officially released earlier recordings from Europe in 2014/2015. Have there been any additional rumors surrounding this?

Phoenecia's "Brownout" was the only record in 2001 that competed with Confield for my affection. The early Arovane EPs collected on "Icol Diston" often sound like an alternate-dimension Tri Repetae era Autechre to me. Have you ever listened to Front 242's "Geography"? That first record, even though very primitive by comparison, has a very similar atmosphere/aesthetic to EP7/LP5 material for me...
