why do you like knives?

I have not particularly got bored of this record even though I end up playing it now at least once a week [ever since it's release]. Very good piece of music. Still finding new stuff upon each listen.

I have serious doubts that this is a gescom/ae or boc side-project as many have been speculating. This person seems to have their own unique twist on music. Almost like a unique, collage effect of interesting noises and jumpy melodies. Very different style compared to a lot of other electronic musicians out there. So far, this is one of the best releases I've purchased for a long time when it comes to music. It's early days still, but so far Oversteps is still outdoing a lot of recent releases this year for me though. Not sure if that is the same for others?

This release sounds better and better after each listen
I'm currently really enjoying the murder cycles -- especially the frantic beginning
I hope who ever this is/who ever they are, they keep releasing new material and don't fade away too soon after this album
-
so.. what are people's favourites?
Mine so far (which particularly stand out upon the first few listens): sunsett everett, trademark ribbons of gold (love that climatic guitar riff towards the end at around 3:45), the murder cycles, seen enough and motions.
This album is definitely a grower. There's a lot going on in most of the tracks so I can see this album being taken in by my brain very slowly; the same way ae slowly creeps up to me over time.

Human kind can never destroy racism, at least not in the kind of society as we've developed up until now.
Individuals can make a breakthrough or may be non-racial as they are, but the whole people, nah, not in a 1000 years.
It all begins in school. Educating everyone to relate to each other as human beings collectively from a very young age, rather than recognising someone by skin colour, should reduce racist tendencies in society. I don't ever recall being shown how to adopt interpersonal communicative skills in school.

who here loves st epreo? I've not stopped listening to it for a while now. So many interesting things going on in that track - certainly in my top autechre. It makes for a perfect transition into redfall. st epreo is the muck and dirt, redfall is the cleanser to your ears.

i'm just going to have to reiterate here that this album kicks butt in 24-bit wavs. the sound is lush and the whole experience is being enjoyed here by all. ilanders is cleaned up, known(1) is as solid as ever, and treale fucking RULES. aaaand yuop is win.
yes - this album has definitely grown on me in such a small amount of time.. and I really like this direction they have headed in. I was a little confused when I first heard the leak (as with most people here). I hope we get an EP from them this year as well which expands upon some ideas on Oversteps. Really looking forward to what they have to offer in their live sets very soon

see on see is beautiful
now it's possibly one of my favourite ae tracks
-
What time is the show today?
plus, where's the link for the stream?
-
the 2nd fake (uploaded to rapidshare) has a few decent tracks - treale is great on that one

so.. has anyone decided on what their favourite Bodmin is? I'm going for Bodmin 2 at the moment..

Still working my way through the new analords
Just found myself playing "In The Maze Park" 4 times in a row

Thought I'd get my thoughts posted before we begin with Draft soon.
Such a complex album -- this did take a while for me to fully appreciate (in fact, there's still some areas of this album which I haven't quite understood fully) but I like the challenge of this, it's what draws me to their music. I almost see this record as a dark journey in some way for the listener. I would put this album on if I were in a focused mood -- I couldn't allow for Confield to just be background music, I have to pay full attention all the time.
I'll concentrate on discussing tracks which I enjoy the most on Confield -
Cfern is very engaging, the melody is simple in it's structure but the sound of the melody is what makes the track become empowered. Cfern has so many little intricate sounds here and there to watch out for, a lot of detail is involved among the stretchy beats. I love the way the melody transitions into a moaning parallel to the main melody structure heard at the beginning and middle. The breakdown introduces new sounds to keep the interest accelerating even further.
Pen Expers is a top 3 ae track of mine - a clear favourite among many listeners of ae. You can tap your foot to the DMX kick drum, it has an underlying basic track structure but has all the chaos going over on top. I can relate to the suggestion someone made about this track giving out an imagery of light breaking through a dark place. Still gets a very regular listen among many ae tracks.
Sim Gishel has one of the best intros to an ae track - very cool and calculated tune. Parhelic Triangle develops so well with the eerie bells resonating throughout. There's really no other ae track that compares with this one in terms of how atmospherically dark it is.
Uviol is usually played whilst I'm out walking at night back from work. I have to cross a marina where the setting is just right for this tune. Those synth stabs fit in so well with the delicate synth tones which were most emphasised at the start, beats become splashed over everything. Definitely associate this tune with the night.
Overall, Confield allows ae to show off their techniques so well - emotions from this release don't vary in any way, I've always maintained my opinion of this album as being dark, listening to it at night compliments it so well. Not a particularly favourite album of mine from Sean and Rob but I admire and appreciate it a lot. Very challenging (to me anyway), I'm still getting to grips with a lot of the tracks even though I've been listening to ae now for a long time.

This shit is so fucking gay
The way he starts the threads like a Butlins Redcoat
He has been bullied, oh yes, tis true that he was bullied through the school years. Let him post him here, however, for it will do his confidence the world of good. For it will ease him back into society. The outcast doofus. The nerd who came in from the cold
hey, you don't have to be here.. where's the need for your post when you can just ignore these threads every week?
Yeah, bread, you're right. I should just ignore the guy. I'll try and trigger this ignore feature in the next few days, i gotta. His posts are so gay. He's a raper.
Bread, he's a goon. He's a goon gumpah. i have a few more updates on the Cat Torturer i will post next week. He is a mental wreck. No more excuses, bread. Use your loaf and realise genetetics are to blame. I know you were a sympathyser for these types of lowlives, Bread.
The Cat Torturer was a fat insane mess. Please agree.
Post the updates you have on him and I'll have a read - I'm more interested in hearing about psychologists assisting him rather than going to prison.. anyway we're taking this thread off course and I know this discussion on Confield will be popular so best step out of here.

Put Gantz Graf on after work one time, very loud by the way
House mate walks into my room, and complains that this is not music!
I asked for him to define what music is.. he left the room quietly.
lol just about an hour ago my brother and I were driving through town, windows down, blaring Gantz Graf.
Nearly everyone we passed looked at us in disbelief. Their brains could not quite comprehend what they were hearing.. I couldn't stop laughing

He looked at me, then the cd player, then back at me, then back at the cd player, and then he said "you take drugs don't you?"
lol, and i do.
The association made between electronic music and drugs is really annoying. I don't take drugs and I listen to Autechre almost every day.

This is a fascinating release. The artwork is very suitable for the sounds and textures in the music. I'm glad I found this thread otherwise I would not have heard about this.
