i had room mates briefly, and it was fine.  But we were all introverts who stayed in our rooms mostly, only ever bumping into each other occasionally in the kitchen.  I pretty much just used the place as a crash pad.  I think my experience with room mates being totally chill like that was a pretty rare one.  And I still wouldn't choose that over living alone.

That's exactly the situation I have now.  I used to live with a couple of roommates who were much more social and it was great.  We would hang out, have dinner together once a week, go to the bar, watch TV, get ice cream, bake bread together, have guests occasionally, and so on.  I really miss it.  I only ever hear people complain about their roommates, but living with people you get along with really well is a lot cooler than living on your own.

  2. I stopped at 7-11 for a lemonade on my way home from the gym and this huge crackhead-looking guy appeared in front while I was inside and started screaming and kicking the trash can.  He tried to talk to me on my way out and I ignored him, but I was too afraid to unlock my bike that I parked right next to where he was furiously pacing back and forth.  I'm now squatting on the street a block away and wondering whether I can safely go back for my bike.  It's starting to rain.

Always wondered what he used to make the original.. info is probs on some interview somewhere I just never bothered to look..

I'm convinced he used a Roland R8 on at least some of the album.  The whistle in Blainville is definitely the same as one of the R8 samples.

  4. This month I've had more sales and downloads on my Bandcamp page than any month before... which is weird because I haven't put anything new on there and also haven't done any promotion at all.  In fact, I almost forgot about it.  Also, I deleted my Paypal so I don't have any way of claiming the money that I got from it.

So, did you guys here have anything to do with this?

  5. My local actually got a copy of William Parker's recently released decuple-album, Migration of Silence into and Out of the Tone World, which I bought for a mere $75.

This song isn't on the new album, but it is cool.

  6. I watched the first half of Sátántangó and I'm extremely frustrated from it.  The first couple of hours were so promising.  I wish the same film could have been made by someone with an artistic vision.  Instead it was just a waste of a great concept (and music).

i always dryshave with disposable razers because my skin's oily af.. But I also have a perpetual five oclock shadow goatee, even when clean-shaven, because my hair is quite dark.

that being said i've been tempted to get an electric razor at times because i regularly go through phases of maintaining a shaved head & that's a real pain to do with a disposable. rn i seem to be in a "let my hair grow however it wants for many months" phase tho so no rush

Same.  I realized a little over a year ago that most razors have water-activated lubrication built in, so adding more to your face is just overkill.  I was using an electric beard trimmer for a long time but switched because it was growing back too fast.

And yeah, my regular annual headshave is coming up soon and I think I'll pass on it this time.

  8. Most people who envision a well functioning and equitable Marxist system in first world countries seem to overlook the fact that our civilization is standing on top of an invisible colonial empire that has allowed us to progress in a relatively peaceful and stable world.  A socialized, quasi-Nordic America would not be an ideal Marxist society or anything like it because such a system is still focused on magnetizing capital toward the metropolitan societies from the obfuscated archipelago of alien entities.  I believe Marxism would demand us to focus on self-sufficiency first before we spend our time figuring out public health care and other such issues.  The problem is that an entirely self-sustaining America is looking less tangible with each farm that gets excavated for building projects or converted to wasteland by relentless agricultural practices.  The alternative would be an outward ejection of capital into America's concubines by marriage, which we all know is never going to happen.

  9. I don't have faith in the preservation of a system that exists as a stagnant entity without entering a state of expansion.  A Marxist society would somehow have to maintain an equilibrium that we have yet to see in any civilization ever.  Where capital exists, it wants to expand, and capital is a greater force than any individual or group of individuals.  To escape capitalism is to retreat into a hypothetical "pre-capitalism," where escape is strictly prohibited.  I'll add to this later.

  10. People called me a ghost because I would show up to school and then get bored halfway through the day and walk home.  I was friends with the crazy wooks in school but almost never did anything with anyone outside of school.  The entire school staff knew me personally due to my persistent truancy. My final GPA was around 1.5 if I recall correctly.  I hated myself for my self destructive tendencies.  It was probably the worst time of my life.
