I've finally been converted by 100 gecs. It's becoming a regular feature in my life. I've realized that good music is overrated and overrepresented in the world. Bad music needs a chance, and awful music deserves a place of supreme privilege. Too many people make music with the intention of it being good and I for one am completely bored of it. I'm trying to listen only to music that is made with absolutely no consideration of quality, and 100 gecs has mastered this attitude. Out with the good, in with the bad.

I just discovered that I actually enjoy mixed drinks. No longer am I a naïve and brutish neat-drinking Philistine, burning my throat with every sloppy gulp as a testament to my own impatient lassitude. No, I now have the sophisticated airs of an enlightened cocktail mixologist. I'm almost 25 years old and I now mix my drinks. Currantly (pun intended) consuming an el diablo with a Camarena añejo. Last night I had a dark+stormy and a couple gin+tonix (all supplied by my wealthier friend's private bar, from which I shamelessly mooch on the reg).

Anyone got any good recommendations for everyday over ear headphones? something in the sub 100 euro range.
Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. I'm actually wearing mine right now (listening to Richard Devine's Sort/Lave).

I added some sugar to my coffee from a ziplock baggie. Yeah, that was salt. Still drinking. Isn't as bad as you might think... but it's not good.
...this must be at least 10 times as much salt as i would ever eat in one meal.
I've started using fish sauce as a substitute for salt. It's making my cooking much more flavorful, I'd recommend it.

I'm really fucking pissed off right now. I want to scream at someone. I don't know why I feel like this but I want to make someone feel terrible right now. I can't sleep because of how angry I am.

Since The Fortunate Son is like a pop culture soundtrack for Vietnam films, what do you think will be the signature song for Afghanistan war films in the future?

Finally caught the the giant moth that has been stalking me since last Friday and put it outside but now realize it faces certain death and feel remorseful.
It's already lived the majority of its life. When it's in its winged form it only exists to reproduce once and die. That moth is one of the successful ones.

@Cryptowenthanks for pointing that one out. My goal at the moment is to read everything that influenced Land and everything influenced by him, both positively and negatively. Right now I'm in The Machinic Unconscious by Felix Guattari. It'll probably be a while until I move on from D/G.

Also Problem Areas was definitely influenced by this track to a certain extent

its interesting how low res cgi graphics back in the day used to signal "futuristic", whereas when i see it on stuff from the last decade my read is "the uncanny contained within the mundane". would that be accurate?
like my first impression with this stuff is that at some point vaporwave aesthetics branched off in two directions. on the one hand you have the chill beats to study to branch, ie accessible party music & downtempo that's heavy on iconic sample loops. on the other hand you have this stuff which seems to have siezed upon the "internet" aspect that was always inherent to vaporwave, ie the underlying thematic once you got past the sampling, the exploration of the way in which the web take every previously existing aesthetic and melts them together into this cotton candy mutation. disregarding all previously established tastes as an experiment to see what new tastes might emerge
Vaporwave is a diagrammatic rhizome of destratifying semiotics. New connections are being formed between assemblages of enunciation by abstract machines deterritorialized over the internet. The first variety of vaporwave you mentioned is a capitalistic refrain that's reincorporating the connections into its semiological field, which were formed by the more machinic lines of evolution characterizing the abstract variety. Or something like that.

i have to work wage labor to survive, i am most definitely not someone who survives off their ownership of the means of production, i.e. bourgeoisie
Sure but if you eat bananas and/or drink coffee then it's more than just survival. I don't think about complaining that there are people richer than me because simply being in America makes me richer than the majority of people. I'm sitting on top of possibly the greatest slave labor force ever and they're working ceaselessly to keep me comfortable. We take their surplus value and export political unrest in return. Personally I think it would be petty to ask for a four-day work week in circumstances like these.

Geese are pretty tasty in a fight, though we're not talking swan levels of toughness. I think the poll is indicative of American overconfidence.
People would rather go up against a chimp than a wolf. Crazy talk.
Chimps are dangerous, but wolves are bigger than you think. I'd put my money on a wolf if it went up against a chimp.

Probably more like 10. Even harpy eagles and wandering albatross don't weigh 30 pounds.

Same. I wouldn't say this to anyone IRL but I honestly secretly enjoyed having covid because I really needed that period of solitude. It felt like a little fast from the world.

Probably the latest Florian Hecker release, Synopsis Seriation. It's really catchy but actually really good.
