  1. yes, suspiria is uninspired, messy and totally unengaging mucking about for 2 hours just to reach a sole decent climatic sequence.

I basically thought the same thing after watching it...

My daughter saw it more metaphorical... And during our after movie chat, I started to appreciate what it could mean to others... While still wishing it was done differently.

Seems I remember how much I've forgotten about childhood whenever I have those after movie conversations with her.

    =P

I really try to keep in mind that most horror films are directed towards teens/early 20 year olds.

Now... I... Don't think it was terrible. I'd never recommend it, and will never watch it again... But I don't feel like I wasted time watching it.

    <shrug>

She wants us to watch The Nun next...

    =X

    <sigh>

    My hopes are not high.

    =P

Whatever... After that is Drainiac, and I'm psyched.

  2.

Pretty sure Jesus was a hippie tho...not that these evangelical boomers and white nationalist incel goblins would ever understand.

of course they wouldn't. jesus was an evangelical american. when he comes back he's going to put things right. so far he only sent trump to get things going nad set the stage for his return because trump is our god chosen emperor here on earth.. until the jesus return. he'll see the shining city on a hill that is america and he'll land in trumps whitehouse and then trump will give him advice and jesus will zip on over the israel and crack the land in half and out will come gold and milk and honey and a might shield to protect his people then he'll lay waste to all his enemies and elevate america and israel to the heavans.. except for the nonblievers of course.

and.. jesus being a hippy is just liberal fake news.. he actually was quite muscular and ate rare meat and his eyes would burn with fire when he was near his enemies and he would stricke fear unto them just by hiz gaze... and he only got crucified the first time because of the jews who were confused. and judas of course.

i mean.. it's all right here in this film.

I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House

Never heard of this one thanks.

Have you guys watched It Follows? Can imagine that would be a good one to watch together.

    No prob-bob.

    =D

And yeah, we saw that around Thanksgiving last year. Wasn't too terribly bad. I remember being disappointed it ended the way it did. Though, I don't think I could have come up with a better way to finish it off.

Drainiac... I like when modern films look like they were done in the 80's. That's one of the reasons I liked AHS... The 'gore' that was done 80's style.

    =P

  4. Ha, thanks. She's 19... So gore isn't really a deal-breaker.

And yes! Tons of 70's-80's horror films are great. I'm slowly gettin her into them. We just watched A Clockwork Orange last week, and she really enjoyed it. She also really liked Halloween, The Shining, Poltergeist, The Omen and Pet Cemetary...

In the next month I want to watch Re-Animator, Alien, Children Of The Corn and The Evil Dead with her....

She has a few she wants me to see too, but they're all recent and I can't remember any of the titles... But we take turns picking films, so there's a handful she's excited to see with me.

The last one she made me watch was 47 Meters Down...

Eye-roll material... But she does pick some decent movies every now and again. I wouldn't have seen Sinister, I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House or The Conjuring had she not picked them, and I didn't think they were too bad.

    =P

Why would you make her watch that when you've got Drainiac right there??

Never seen it... I'll add it to my list.

    =D

  5. ^Venom is the worst comic book movie, and I haven't seen Aquaman yet.

I dunno about that... Those Toby McGuire Spider-Man films were pretty abysmal.

Though, I haven't seen Aquaman yet.

I do hate Jason Momoa.... So I'm not surprised people think it's horrid.

this was a little bit of a train-wreck; and at a running time of 2hrs 26min you really better immerse me in an interesting world. that doesn't happen here. the problem is besides the main girl (dakota johnson's character) none of other girls are memorable. maybe you can make a case for mia goth's character- but is it because she's played by mia goth?

tilda swinton playing different characters was unnecessary and somewhat annoying mainly because it adds nothing to the story- except another character you can forget. the dance sequences are filmed terribly- constantly cutting to different angles and doing this contrived and excruciatingly annoying "HUH!" everyone a movement is executed.

i like some of the older ladies (standout performance from renée soutendijk) - but i felt they need a better story and better direction to really stand out because they seemed more natural and believable unlike the poptarts we're supposed to be admiring.

four dancing pale skinned models out of ten

I just downloaded this. Was going to watch it later tonight with my youngest daughter (she's a horror film fan ATM - the only person I know IRL that's really into anything horror related)...

I'm not surprised that it wasn't too great. It seems incredibly hard to find good horror films. I generally lean more towards stuff like Maryters, Raw, Let The Right One In, Sun Choke, Black Swan, ect....

    <more shrugs>

    Maybe she'll like it though...

  7.

    Legion.

Just finished S1. I think it's the best Marvel tv show I've ever watched.

It’s the best Marvel thing in a visual medium, period.
Half way through S2, and I'd totally agree with that. I can't think of any other marvel film/tv/short that I've been this enthralled with.

What's her name? Aubrey Plaza? She owns her character.

Stevens is hit and miss for me, but when he nails it, he fucking nails it. And he nails it more often than not.

Kinda wish it was a cable show (like Showtime or HBO) so they could get more realistic with the visuals... It's strange in my head when blood looks like strawberry jam.

  8. The second disc of Alec Empire's 'Intelligence And Sacrifice.'

I love it. It kind of has a similar atmosphere to MBM's 'Subliminal Sandwich' up in my noodle-brain.

I've been really into Empire, Crack, ATR, Endo, Elias stuff the last month. Especially 'Low on Ice,' 'Les Etoiles Des Filles Mortes, 'Cold Metal Perfection,' 'Black Ark' and Endo's She-Satellites' 'Poison.' The more abstract stuff that's fairly different from ATR and the 'typical' DHR releases.

    ...

Man, I miss Atari Teenage Riot.

'Is This Hyperreal?' wasn't too terribly bad. And the live 'Riot In Japan 2011' album was interesting hearing Endo aaaaand... was it CX Kidtronik? doing vocals on the Crack-era tracks. But 'Reset' was.... <shake my head>

I just wish they would have added more of their experimental+noise noodlings to the ATR sound when they revived the project... Kept it moving forward instead of deluding the music and loosing the 70's-80's punk like views in favor of lyrics that an auto-generator could come up with after pumping social media posts into it for 2 days.

This post is way longer than intended...

    =X

  9. 90s Supernatural Gothic Horror films are so good! Stigmata sequel Bringing Out The Dead has Patricia Arquette reprise her role but this time as an undercover woman of the night. Scorsese really adds to the original IMO.

    Lost Souls.

I know it's 2000... But it basically encapsulates most of the 90's supernatural goth horror that was running rampant throughout the decade.

I worked at a movie theatre when it was released and begged the manager to let me take home the movie poster after we stopped showing the film.

    =P

    ...

End Of Days was another one... And Dracula 2000...

Damnit... I have to dig out my box of old DVDs from storage soon. You guys have made me all nostalgic.

america deserves to be ruled by these morons, it's the fault of the voters

46 percent non-voters in 2016. But let's not forget the electoral votes which got us Emperor Orange Poopstain Tantrum Lord McTweet in the first place
not to mention the gerrymandering which gives Rs the advantage in most cases. and the way urban votes seem to matter less than rural votes when the numbers are crunched.
Totally... It's so fucked that rural voters have more impact on elections than city voters... Simply because of where they were born and raised.

I don't understand why 1 vote doesn't equal 1 fucking vote because of where you live...

The electoral collage needs to be completely obliterated.

    Seriously.... FUCK THE ELECTORAL COLLAGE!!!

Because you have land, you have more of a say than I do...?!?!?!?!?! Fuck you!!

    2019:

    Shakedown Hawaii

    Metroid Prime 4

    Bayonetta 3

    Mario Golf Switch (please)

    GBA re-releases (pretty please)

Ha, I just got a GBA for Xmas.

    =D

I've only got 6 games for it ATM, but I can't wait to rebuild my collection. I think the GBA is my favorite gaming console/device. The library of games it has (especially considering it plays GB/GBC games too) is crazy good.

You must have got the gameboy sp right?

Gotta grab tetris for that and super mario world

Oh, no, I got the OG GBA. The one with no backlight. I have to set up my iPod's flashlight so that it's over the screen (or sit right under a window when the sun is out) so that I can see it clearly (because all of the lights in my house are 30-40 watt bulbs).

    =P

Reminds me of sitting against our sliding glass door when I was young and had an original GameBoy.

    Hehe.

And yeah, Metroid II, Tetris and Super Mario Advance 2+4 were the first games I ordered for it.

    =D

I have a list of about 30 games I want to get again.

Christmas/Birthday/Father's Day presents for the next 10 years...

    Awesome! Have fun

    Thanks!!

    Aaaand... I AAAAAMMMMM!!!

    =D

I can't contain my huge fucking grins when talking about it...
