  1. This thread is going to need a lot of editing in a few years.

no need. there's another thread for that.

this thread is for acknowledging and celebrating alive celebrities.

  2. these damn flat earthers need to get a hobby or something.

i always figured it was 99% a dumb internet in-joke that somehow rolled into the mainstream and now has a small minority of conspiracy nutters thinking it's legit.

  3. i saw someone point out that they changed his white gloves to white coloured hands that look like gloves...

it's the kind of design you can look at and kind of easily figure out how they got to this point, but it still seems like someone should've looked over it and said "no".

probably easier this way for the sonic fans to sexualize the character. do have to wonder if, despite all the jokes the internet is going to make, the movie will probably still be massively successful lol

  4. people who saw the 2017-2018 live shows don't need to imagine.

they played column thirteen + other unreleased soup-y material :-)

  5. Wtf?! 2019 is fucking savage!

noticed this in 2016-2018.. growing up so heavily connected to media is going to give this impression...

have to toughen up a bit i think. be sad, pay respects, and try to take the experience as a positive and move on.

otherwise, you're opening yourself up to emotional connections with so many people all across the world we've never even met (also, especially when it's ranging back to people from the 70s and 80s like david bowie and prince, etc.).

i got sad at robin williams passing because it felt like a family friend i had grown up with had passed away. and then i had to remember, noooo i just grew up as a kid watching mrs doubtfire and aladdin.

  6. "If you’re looking for what the Intelligent DanceMusic dudes categorized themselves against, it was this."

    Fuck off

pretty sure intelligent dancemusic dudes were the last ones to catagorize themselves as intelligent. but i guess the person who wrote this is the journalist and i'm just some fan on the internet who doesn't have the platform / voice of journalistic authority.

    what a load of bollocks.

? growing up in the 90s puts you squarely in that demographic. you just missed it somehow, it happens. I missed the entirety of Star Wars and Indiana Jones and consequently don't care about either.

yo wtf. you don't like star wars?

    rip my friendship with usagi.

    [edit] OR indiana jones ???

  7. the d'breeze tracks seem to be legit.

sergeantk What is your favorite remix you have done? (mine is HIA - Conoid Tone)

Rob that was our first ever proper remix job.

Sean the first would have been one of the d'breez ones i think but the conoid tone was the first to be released

the release date on Crazy for love is 1999 cos it appeared on this release

    https://www.discogs.com/Various-MASK-500/release/19800

Closer i think made its way online by means of Darrell Fitton/Bola/D'Breeze's myspace, or something along those lines, so i think the release date used is more to reflect the date of production.

Hypnotise is a track that's widely circulated as a vinyl rip, i think the version on Laxir is a vinyl rip.. but the track is also available on CD/digitally. (listen to fade out of track on this version^ and there's no surface noise).

2005 Mark Broom - Any number (alt mix) is also the one i was referring to earlier, where different rips of this track can make the track sound alot better or worse.

Smallfish is another that i kept coming across as vinyl rip, available here digitally https://kruton.bandcamp.com/album/uxb-releases

  9. i had an attempt at collecting everything. made some wee progress.

tried to ignore laxir and instead find FLAC uploads of each individual release the remix was originally on, to ensure it was *probably* actually a flac and not just mp3 converted to flac.

it kinda gets to a point of diminishing returns and you hit a wall. there's certain vinyl only tracks as well where different rips are at different speeds or have differences in how they're EQed or something and ended up choosing mp3 rips because they just sounded better.

the whole things a bit of a mess..

agreed that it'd be fucking Very Good if autechre and warp were able to get a digital archive up, but can imagine why that's a bit of a nightmare. it's just such a shame when a lot of their remixes are pretty damn close to the rest of their material in terms of quality .

  10.

Was very surprised to hear about the Favorite winning an Oscar.

Usually that only happens to "saccharine-washed feel-good cliche-ridden load of shit".

Myers seems underappreciated, this is dead on as a skit.

I'm not shocked Green Book won, it's the perfect cop out from the old liberals who have the voting block at the Oscars - i.e. let's avoid a bombastic and/or visceral film about racism in America, let's snub Netflix films (Roma), let's avoid revisiting the W and Cheney mess, etc. Oh and we can say this was a statement over the other safer picks about musicians. ITS PERFECT!

It's pathetic white savior films are still so goddamn consistent in accolades and popularity - they serve as token "I'm not racist" fodder for right-winger baby boomers who frequent theaters and casual liberals alike. They often are well made and sincere films but the time and place for them is over. Real courage would be to snub them over far more provocative films. Nazis are literally coming out and civil rights laws from the 60s are being attacked relentlessly in red states and via the executive branch.

for what it's worth.. i saw blackkklansman and thought it was pretty trash.

nothing in the film made any damn sense.

the characters felt over simplistic in a way that felt cartoon-y and detached from reality.

... it felt cheap. like, it's going to be impossible to criticise or say the movie is bad when it has such a strong, socially positive message.

i don't think the film was *snubbed* at all, i think it was just a sloppily written, shitty feel good movie for socially conscious people..

    .... IMO ****
