  1. Mainly those centred around immigration, trade, and the bolstering of the manufacturing sector. And of course not all of them, who in their right mind likes all of someone’s policies?
  2. I don't like Trump, but his policies I think are very good for America. I don't need to like the man to like his policies.
  3. I think this refers to the 'experimental' drum & bass album he has recorded with Sly & Robbie. I could not be more exited for that. Due out on Subrosa, late April. Set your watch, this shit will be fucking FIRE.
  4. @Soloman Tump I really, genuinely enjoyed these. Dirty, gritty sounds. Lots of human elements which make it really interesting to listen to. It's a very imposing sound, unsettling at times. Digging these so much - 'Tadpole' being my favourite. Hoping you do some more soon. I wasn't a big fan of the jam to be honest - I've yet to hear any mod synth jam that I can stomach. I don't think it does justice to your other tracks. The rest of it though, class!
  5. I am pretty new here so thought I would show you what I'm using this evening. There's a few more synths and basic percussion instruments in the cupboard - I like to chop and change things as I go. I don't use VSTs or any virtual shit, so I have 96 inputs and 96 outputs all wired up - no more patch bays!
  6. You don't like capitalism? How the hell do you live? I concede that my post was more strongly worded than I intended, but you do realise that almost all synths are a result of capitalism? I mean, I do own some soviet synths which aren't 'capitalist' but I certainly don't think they were built by passionate, empowered workers - more likely people who were strong armed by Government policy into doing so. They are also no more or less passionate than the capitalist synths I own. I can't understand what's wrong with everyone being able to afford a synthesiser... And yes, you are allowed to have an opinion and discuss them - isn't that exactly what we're doing now? This is exactly the kind of thing we need to strive to avoid. No, that is not passion, those are basic design considerations. By that logic, the Behringer stuff must be more 'passionate' than the originals because they allows for more control options?! That doesn't make sense to me. Personally I don't hold any device to an ideal. They are tools for expression, nothing more. I don't care what name is on the box, or what magazine/website has published a nonsense review regarding those. There's no magic in an 808 or 303 - it's a standard set of electrical components in a box which some people grew to fetishise, likely due to the scarcity of the products. Now we have a company selling them new for a few hundred quid, to me that's a result. Are they really planning a CS80? Or was that a joke?
  7. Exactly how does passion present its self in the development of electrical circuits? I've never had one of my designs refused because it 'lacked passion'. To give you an analogy, the man who designs the ECU for Fords (a mass market product) is likely just as passionate about his job as the guy who does it for Ferrari (the bespoke sector). But more over, the company who are committing to building tens of thousands of these units are doing so at a greater risk as their out lay is greater and their confidence in design and manufacturing quality must be higher. I am stunned that any company is committed to reproducing iconic instruments (and actually, forcing a lot of the industry to do so) is so looked down upon. Lots of snobbery here I think. Makes me think that the original manufacturers should have got off their ass and done it themselves. We need more pragmatism in this industry, less of the pseudo science
  8. No shit, it's a business! How entitled do you need to be to think that a manufacturer should be doing it 'for the art'. Christ almighty. How many good manufacturers have we lost because the didn't know how to run a business? I hope these companies continue to make money by offering me commodities that want to purchase.
  9. That is the downside to all of this reproduction stuff. Now everyone with £400 can have an 808 and a 303 - YouTube is going to be choked with 45 minute long 'jams' of 4/4 kick and resonant bass. Bleh
  10. Lol! What makes you think I want a collectors item? It's hipsters that drove up the price of the original machines.
  11. Well it’s too late now, I’m not willing to go through the embarrassment of cancelling my order. I guess I’ll just need to deal with it, you live and learn...
  12. I've put in my pre-order for the yellow 303 now too. I don't really love the sound of the 303, but the smiley face sold it to me. I mean, for £120, it must be useful for something.
  13. 1) I enjoy my privacy, so the number was a good way of really staying anonymous 2) 3 (maybe 4) synths and loads of cheap pedal - attached is an old pic before the collection grew . I'm hoping to detail my studio in a later post somewhere? 3) I can assure you I do not know what I am talking about and any correct use of grammar is purely coincidental.
  14. Why? I’m not sure what this implies. I run a reasonable little studio and I was SICK to death of servicing and fixing my antique hardware. I bought a single Behringer Model D as a gamble and thought it sounded amazing. Then a sought out all their analogue pedals. As long as they keep up the quality and classic circuit design I’ll keep buying. I am an electrical design engineer by day, specifically design for manufacture and honestly the new Behringer stuff blows me away for the value. I know they won’t be replacing my PolySix at any point, but for the simple mono synths, there’s no looking back for me.
  15. I love this Behringer stuff. I've got 3 of their synths, and around 20 pedals. All of which sound great, are cheap, have good work flow. I don't want to have a studio full of Behringer gear, but if they keep putting out this quality, I certainly will do.
  16. Thank you for the welcome. The reason I see Visa as being his best work is that it appears to be the one with the least compromises. Long form music, very unusual rhythms, lots of dissonance. I think it's what he's been trying to create this whole time. Personally, my favorite is The Four Quarters.
  17. I've registered on this forum just to show my interest in this release. I seen V live at Cafe Oto in London and his performance blew me away - really it was stunning. Aggressive, fierce, modern. I'm so happy to have found a place where anyone has an interest in Vladislav Delay, never mind even know who he is. I've seen V live about 5 times now, and he never fails to impress. 'Visa' was, in my opinion, a masterpiece of contemporary music, and a significant release. I think Rakka has a strong possibility of surpassing that. Vinyl pre-ordered at boom kat.
