  1. there's a few tracks on oversteps that I can only listen at low volume, because those high-pitched, upfront-in-the-mix synths are really physically hurting my ears. this and the melody being a bit annoying to me

    (especially the  - known(1) / O=0 / d-sho qub -  run )   actually I often skip those when I listen to the album.

it's weird because this never happens to me with any other of their tracks (exept maybe chilchil, from chiastic)

even  "F7" from SIGN, wich have very upfront / high pitched / high rms level synths, feels ok to me  at high volume, comparing to those few oversteps tracks that I really can't bear.  ....

....maybe I just don't really like the melody from those tracks, and nothing more, and that's why my brain feels like it's too loud or something.

but overall I find most of oversteps synths too much crisp and cranked up in the high-mid to high frequency spectrum ( say, across the 1,6khz - 6khz area)

(oh, and yeah , a +1 for "os veix3"   wich is also my fav on the album.)

This is cool. I wish I could pull this off too, but for now I use Ableton as my mixer as well, so it's more difficult.

shure , but right now you're saving a lot of space in your studio, and might have way more routing options than with an analogue mixer.

I still stuck to my mixer coz I love the instant access on every fader & aux sends , dub-style mixing, instant control on feedback loops without latency, etc...

and I always works on livesets, using clip mode not arrangement mode, for the sake of playing live.

but If I you work on proper studio tracks, ITB mixing is more flexible and it's easier to get excatly what you want, you can automate and save settings etc, wich I cannot.

  3. you will laught at me, but I'm still using abelton V.5 and still does not feel like I need any upgrade since then.

...well I only use midi clips to feed a full hardware setup, mixed on analogue mixer, actually. so it does the job, obvioulsy.

these boy's dance steps are awesome. those speed variations control on foot drifting, man, ace.

(regardless of the ae track pasted upon the video, just talking about their moves)

edit ... well indeed this works well with the ae track also, as does the whole ghetto rainy street context

There were three purpose-built opaque canvas screens covering Autechre's setup from the sides and from the front, but using them was scrapped- the screens made the enclosed space an oven, so they were discarded. They would've wanted to play without people seeing them, but it just wasn't humanely possible - that's the reason they're playing in plain view.

oh yeah ? well,! I'm a bit disappointed they asked for this... I like the fact that they play in total darkness, it make total sense. but if they're playing outdoors and at daytime, I would be quite disturbed facing a big canvas, it would be awkwarding, i'd rather see them actually. We know that  they consider there is nothing interesting in watching them, they prefer to have the public focused on the sound, wich is fine....but yet, having that canvas as a stage visual would be very strange to me. dunno...

  7. chillin' under the sun listening to untilted liveset ?    ...quite unsusal, as they usually play in the dark.

I saw another youtube short video of another ae live in daylight (from early 2000 era) , bt I can't find it back now.

ps : I made a bit of search trough the autechre topics, surprisingly it seems this had not been posted yet on the forum, (if I'm wrong , sorry for the re-post )

you can't predict where and when those more deadly variants appear. vaccination is an attempt to lower opportunities to generate variants; until you get through most of the world's population with vaccines, you're at least risking being back at square one all the time.

variants is a real issue for sure. hopefully, since now, current covid vaccines seems to be efficient on new variants...

but for example in a particular area in france, they discovered a new variant a few weeks ago, wich is not more deadly or contagious,

but this variant is not detected by standard pcr testing ! , so it created  clusters in a very short amount of time.

people were symptomatic but the test was negative, yet some days after some of them went hospital because actually they do have serious covid issues indeed.

so they figured out something was wrong an they realised that some of the variants could not be detected by some of the testing protocols.

  9. I like that 2/4 snare drop, it adds to the "being in a rush " feeling of the 1st part of the track, and even gives a bit of a speeding up.

"being in a rush because something bad is coming around so you want to escape" sort of thing....

the whole track swings between tragdey and hope,  in my mind

...the tilte might be a basic emoji, now that I see It....      X4      someone suffering, or being angry.    (X4)    ...more likely both.

  13. breakcore (in various subgenres) i like and recommend : hecate, rotator & shit from peace-off label, somatic responses, drop the lime, cavage / C8 collective,

vsnares (i know mostly his early shit, pre - 2006 )

bogdan can go breakcore in his way

it seems I have to listen back to some xanopticon. ah yeah Praxis also.

+ I remeber of an italian underground label releasing this distorded breakbeat / breakcore / industrial V.A. called "smash biotek " ---  this is very good --- :

if you're outside of the UK, don't order anything from the UK. The whole thing is a huge fucking mess.

well yeah maybe for the moment, but I might not totally  boycott things down.. I mean I will still order from UK if I need to, I would just adjust my budget (i.e. on bleep, I would buy 3 x 12" albums instead of 5)

because I guess it's pain in the ass for u.k. (small) companies to see their international buisness falling down because of brexit, and to make a total stop on orders is not helping them keeping alive despite this shit. (speaking of companies I would enjoy, i.e. bleep, or those  jungle labels @J3FF3R00ordrerd from, or  other stuff we order from u.k. like quality clothes or  wathever)    (ps yeah bleep is not that small, but compared to some big industry buisness, it still is quite a small thing, is'nt it ?)

among this, I wonder who benefits from the custom taxes, while V.A.T is supposed to go to the u.k.k state and they are supposed to use this money to invest in things that deserves the country for the whole people (like, dunno, socials, infrastructures, etc...) I mean I prefer paying a VAT rather than a custom tax,

but I might be totally wrong since I'm very weak on how all this money buisness is really working and how the money is spreaded....

ps : @J3FF3R00 now listening that chatta b. stuff :music:   and kid lib  is a favorite of mine ?
