Yeah the little movement and stereo it had actually added to the track, i agree. Ah well, it still exists eh? Tundra 4 is the real version anyway hahaha

Relistened to both versions of Theme from Ernest and what i like about the new version is the Air, the breathing and how the stereo is working. Has a round beastly quality. But for better or worse the main break snare and 101 are are less in your face it seems and the kick really bangs and booms. But i have a feeling that the new version would sound better at version high volume or in a show or dj mix. Because that 90s sound is a bit high mid heavy and unbalanced at times, a bit harsh which can be difficult at full volume, loads of things happening in the center, could use wider sound. First version is more gritty tho and pulses in a different way, snares are more sharp cutting.New mastering sometimes has the new pusher style of compression on breaks.

I think it sounds ok but you know, a 90s electronic album has a certain sound to it. To change mastering like this, kinda fucks with it a bit. Like when they remastered NIN The Downward Spiral, the latest definitive remaster, i thought it sounded gorgeous but it took off the aggressive edge and rawness of the original record at the same time. Fucks the vibe. Remasters have an anachronistic thing about them. One does not simply update a sound from an particular era with ears of today and not fuck things up in some way or other. The particular aesthetic or attitude prevalent in the original era is important and the ones that are dominant now are not neutral. Having two different attitudes from different times kinda clash sometimes. Still very ambivalent about remasters because of that. And often the latest version becomes the official version and it can be a bit of a Star Wars Special Edition kind of deal where you wish it was the original that was the first readily available.

Why? Traditional music seems fitting. It encompasses all those things and more. There is traditional music in nearly every country and culture. To call it ''Ethnic'' thread makes no sense. And regional will soon become filled with modern pop equivalent (like the world thread) No, traditional is fine.

Beautiful. Timeless. LOVE those kind of vocal ornementations. It also has some renaissance madrigal vibes near the end. Very impressive!

I like long form for no other reason that i like it for what it is: an extended piece of music that gives itself time to explore possibilities or create a sound architecture or atmosphere. I genuinely like extended pieces of music and thats all there is to it, really. Whether its an AE track, a Basinski track, a Morton Subotnick track,a free fusion jazz recordin like Bitches Brew, a Indian classical long improvisation etc etc .I say it's underrated because there is not so many of them around these days and that lots of people have short attention span and consider a 5 minute pieces a long piece.

Been replaying elseq and NTS. I love that they take their time to develop, explore and create form in NTS and elseq. Long form is underrated. In very long tracks, if done well, you have enough time to be absorbed into an atmosphere more completely and create various sound architectures. And you can take 6 minutes instead of 1 to build it up. A successful 6 minute build up will hit you in a different way, the tension keeps building up and building up and building up. Some people might find those too long or boring but i really enjoy the attitude those kind of tracks, they have very much a journey kind of vibe, it's about how things evolves and build up and resolve organically. When you succeed in doing that for 20 minutes it's an extraordinary experience.

Sorry if im a bit dismissive and aggro but its because i was (and people i know) really scammed into some cheap piece of gear quite a few time and i ended up regretting spending hundred of dollars on nearly unusable synth toys and/or bad equipment lol And it sucks. Some brand take advantage of your lack of money to scam you into buying really shitty gear. Cheap and good gear exist but it's not all of them, everyone should be aware of that when they're looking into buying affordable equipment.

I wish that there was more Demo tracks from synth makers in addition to demo noodling. Native does it in their demos. Like the Korg demos from Afx.I would take that kind of stuff for every synth release. Hire a few musicians, and have them make trx with the product. It's fun to hear what a track sounds like made only with one synth. But i guess they do it that way so it's more neutral. But hiring famous musicians to make a demo for a synth is a bit of an underrated marketing strategy imo.They could milk it really good.I think guitar and pedals people do it more with rock musicians.

If i had an advice for anyone buying a synth it would be to ALWAYS try it before hand. Never impulse buy without trying or only from demos or hype or advices from other people taste. And when you play it it has to instantly give you tracks idea and make your hair stands on your arm. Like straight inspiration and straight goosebumps, these are used to make music after all. ''it sounds alright'' is never enough and will probably end up in regret. It has to be love at first sight.
