  1. There is a neat little sound competition (Sound Ceremony) running on the Dawesome Village discord server to coincide with the recent Zerus expansion for KULT by Spektralisk. If you have the time/inclination, please check it out as it just kicked off this morning and will continue for the next week. Looks to be both inspiring and fun (yes, I am biased)! Here's an invite: Dawesome Village
  2. We've created an interesting little community that's open to all electronic music enthusiasts. Sort of the antithesis to social media. It's been open for a little while now and has a decent membership of sound designers, plugin developers, musicians, and composers. Might be an interesting supplement to this discussion forum for some of you. Please feel free to check it out if it piques your interest: Dawesome Village

  4. Context switching is a bitch, huh? That's one of the things that I've got the most difficult time with. It's certainly a downside to this 'connected all the time' world we inhabit. As part of the last generation that came of age while everything was becoming more ubiquitous and connected, I miss the silence and solitude that used to be inherent in every day life. Now, one must work for it and it isn't easy.
  5. WATMM is certainly interesting. As such, what other communities are you involved with that you find unique or special in some way? I think it's important, with such polarization online these days, that creative types have a place to feel included and heard. It's leveraging technology for the better, imho. Here are a few that some of you might also find worthwhile: VI Control - geared toward the cinematic and TV scoring crowd. Worthwhile discussions on a variety of topics. Lines - this started as a space for monome users, but has blossomed into a very thriving community. All range of electronic music discussion takes place and has a nice mix of ITB and hardware folks. KVR - an older forum that covers a breadth of synth and sampler topics. Tends to be more of a snake pit, but there is still useful information that can be gleaned in the sub-forums. Mod Wiggler - as the name implies, geared toward modular users, but has a few subs outside of that niche.
  6. Typically, when you’re young, you have time but no resources for gear. As you get older, you have resources for gear but very little time. One of life’s interesting ironies.
  7. Interesting responses! Here are some of mine: Help a good friend in Germany put out his fourth synth, likely in February. Be grateful that I'm alive every day that I am and make the most of it. Work on transitioning from a multi-instrumental background to more ITB musical arrangements. Extend kindness and compassion at every available opportunity. Oh, and maybe get a bit more involved in the WATMM community.
  8. Having been a lurker on watmm for quite sometime, I thought it best to start a thread to get a feel for this community. That being said, what are your creative goals for 2024?
  9. Some more information on a brilliant woman: https://monoskop.org/Maryanne_Amacher

  11. I use Ample on macOS. For $4.99, it's hard to (break)beat. https://ample.amplesftwr.com
  12. Thank you! Yes, as soon as I have more time to take another dive into it, I'll be sure to compile some Q's and hit you up. Appreciate it!
  13. Longtime Logic Pro X user here, sometime Studio Pro One, and sometime Renoise. I've tried Bitwig in the past and every once in a blue moon, still circle back around to it. Ableton Live never really clicked for me - I use real and synthetic instruments. Bitwig just seems to keep beckoning me to give it an honest go. With massive time limitations these days, I'm hesitant to switch fully to another DAW. That being said, anytime I've gone down the rabbit hole in Bitwig, it's been an enjoyable experience.
