"In 2015 when potential remixes of BIPP were first floated the unequivocal response from SOPHIE was “No remixes..” a long pause followed “..unless it’s Autechre”. We asked, and five years later an email from Autechre arrived “sorry this is so late, hope it's still of some use”. An Autechre live show recording from a Numbers show in 2005 had first inspired SOPHIE to source the equipment used to craft new music including BIPP, LEMONADE & more. The BIPP Autechre mx is 3 minutes 33 seconds long, stripped back and loose. Sounding like Autechre paying tribute to some serious late 80’s influences. The duo's interpretation channels an imagined transition point between NY electro and UK street soul, that pitched down SOPHIE vocal reconfigured into a wanna-be Latin Freestyle Natasha King, jiving over a deep slice of TR-606 funk technology.”

More Midnight Sun albums to complete the puzzle? Not caught up with 2B yet, but I've heard 1 and 2A a bunch of times now, plus that 2 hour mix. Incredible how he keeps his sound fresh with the frequency of output. Hardly have time to revisit the older stuff, so whenever I'm in the mood for it (had a few months off with colundi) I can just catch up with just new stuff instead

Is the PSA still in covid-hibernation? Really miss the monthly shows, going back to listen to some previous (and favourite) ones again now. Hope the PSA crew are all floating along nicely in Cornish corner of space

Just a heads up: Melodie is from 1995 (and rereleased in 1998), THR is (I think) a different version (without the vocal sample) from the Rephlex compilation where it was called Fcs.

lol what is that graphic novel nonsense ?
It's by Abdul Haqq and with approval of Gerald Donald, so it's as official as it could get. Haqq is the one who made the artwork for Neptune's Lair and The Philosophy Of Sound And Machine comp and a whole bunch of other Detroit releases, makes comics, etc. See also this:

It's mostly James Stinsons concepts worked out by Haqq, and 50% of the profit goes to the family of Stinson who could really use the money. Seems fair enough to support?

The weird thing is, the SND Boiler Room set IOS posted in the previous page is probably my favourite SND/Fell thing I've heard - It's really nicely progressive and just ... groovy !

Huge fan. Massive gamechanger for me. Sensate Focus, SND, all the Mark Fell solo stuff, it's all great.
I'm still trying to start a massive social media riot to out Boiler Room as a cowardice exploitative (they don't pay artists) censorship group because they denied the existence of a liveshow Mark Fell did with Russell Haswell, NHK'Koyxen and someone else (can't recall atm). I've contacted them a bunch of times through different channels and the only thing they ever replied to me about it was "Mark didn't do a set that night".
Needless to say, I (and some other chatmmers) saw the entire gig live on the stream as it happened. Mark Fell was leaning against a wall looking extremely bored like always, chewing gum and making bubbles with it while playing the most stupid corny 80's dance tracks pre-mixed in something like Audacity. One track I recall was just in the left channel, the next one in the right channel, etc. Obvious statement against current DJ culture / Boiler Room world. It was the most punk thing I've seen in ages.
I decided to email Mark Fell about it some years ago and this was his reply:hiI definitely did "DJ" that evening. I think they just got quite upset because it didn't fit their agenda. I'm not sure if the footage still exists but I don't have a copythanks for your email and reminding me of this :)mark -

Starlight 1 and 2 are ridiculously good, just like the two Sunshine albums. I can see why Aleksi's output is overwhelming in terms of quantity but it's still quality all the way. After all those years and well over 25 albums of colundi these new ones still sound completely fresh and unique to me. Dare I even say it's getting better over the years.
Two more albums coming in december too! -
Saw Danny playing at the cinema in Rotterdam last night, live music underneath Werner Herzogs Nosferatu. Amazing experience, hope some of the tunes from it will pop up someday...

Sub Rosa is pressing "Another Brown World / Baby Food" on vinyl for the first time. Definitely psyched to hear Baby Food given room to breathe on a 12" pressing.
For those that don't have it already, Dais Records is reissuing Time Machines:
These are amongst my alltime fave Coil things, so this is my lucky day. Really have to get these ASAP, hoping that Time Machines will have EU distribution as well, otherwise it won't be cheap :(

Nice one, I really loved this one in all it's lo-fi glory all those years, for an outtakes album it's a really strong release (just like Onclements Outtakes). Glad he's finally put it on bandcamp in full quality now
Take 06 and Take 01 are massive fav's.
