    also, the surgery usually has about a 6-12 month recovery time w/PT etc. but out of commission for 6 months. so he said even if it was ripe for surgery he'd wait until fall so i don't miss the rest of summer ?

    My sentiments exactly, it really is a timeless piece of work.  Such a beautiful and well paced album.  Raxmus just pulls you in and by the time you get to Chesh you're floating in the clouds.

    I can readily identify with this.  Anhedonia and a persistent feeling of pointlessness.  I dont drink to oblivion but definitely drink myself to sleep. And smoke a lot of dope as sometimes (aka most times) it seems to be the only thing that can numb the unease. And I'm very chemically dependent on three different prescription "mood stabilizers" which don't really do anything except keep me from going off the deep end lest I stop taking them.  Thanks Obamacare.

    We exist. I am trying to get help and hope you are too. Pulling for you as well.

    back on the EP7 positivity tip, I highly recommend giving Peel Session 2 a re-spin, dunno why this seems to get so overlooked b/c it's probably their most funky shit from this era.  The 'chre bros even let John Peel name the tracks for them.

    So ATCQ dropped this in 1993 on Midnight Marauders, and it still fucking bumps hard:

    As a kid I wore this cassette out and this was one of my favorite tracks.  I'd always just assumed that the "pad" in the sample was an instrument, only to learn later it's actually Minnie Ripperton holding a high note over the organ.  The whole song slaps, but the sampled part is just passed the 3 min mark:

    So this sample was mined separately by Dilla (appears on the Another Batch mixtape) and b/c he was in the Ummah, some ppl seem to think Lyrics to Go is actually a Dilla beat, event tho he didn't meet ATCQ until after Midnight Marauders!  I read Dilla Time (which is fan-tas-tic BTW) and there's nothing in there about it, so my guess is that he probably heard it first on Midnight Marauders and later decided to have a go with the sample himself for kicks.

    And for good measure here's the J Cole hit that uses the same sample and got me started down this rabbit hole in the first place.
