Rather boring story: By listening to LP5 on CD in a store when it was new (summer vacation 98). Can't even remember why excatly, i think the custom package design caught my attention and i vaguely remembered seeing some videos before (hi ambermonk) plus i was just getting into Warp stuff in general around that time. It's one of my favourite albums of theirs to this day and i've been following them ever since, tho BBF status was achieved later with Draft.

also listen to this absolutely lush track (not associated with this album, but also by mark fell):

Looks like he's rather shite at Crazy Climber tho :*I

Haha, nice - Is that the first few seconds of Human League's Love Action playing all the way through it ?!
Sure is, he made this after all: http://www.discogs.com/artist/481903-Secular-Musics-Of-South-Yorkshire:)

Yeah, new Furze sounds like back to form! Seeing them live in two weeks, will be sweet.

- Location:Norway
Envy! Didn't even know he assembled a live band! That's awesome!

Feeling this belongs here at least once, too:
Props to Spanish Guy!

Those are some hectic vocals indeed, you don't hear much of that NWOBHM Dickinson-esque, almost operatic thing these days.
There's been some great stuff in the most recent Radio Fenriz podcasts, particularly liked this: https://soundcloud.com/furze-29250360/goat-cyclus
Also, 666th post, awooooooo!
I was mostly referring to the 12 second scream @ 3:08 XD ... Yeah well, there's still quite alot of niche-/ "true" metal with operatic vocals around, it's just that most is rather shit and the public image of metal nowadays consists mostly of the extreme stuff , especially black metal, Abbath memes and all...
Speaking of which: Woah, new Furze... Happy to hear the Reaper back in "up-to-UTD"-mode (couldn't really get into the full-on Sabbath worship as of late)! Good one!
...
OK, here's a try at thread hymn:
and some more NWOBHM of the snot nosed variety:

Anyone else a fan of Cattle Decapitation? Their latest album is pretty damn amazing imo
Haven't been following them for a while tbh but (time for some shameless self promotion) Travis (the vocalist) used to play in a noise/ambient/drone project with the part-time bassplayer of Creation is Crucifixion by the name of 5/5/2000 with who my first little noisegrindband did a split CD in 2003 (http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/5-5-2000/5-5-2000_-_Piz_Urlaun/260834), freaky times!
Spent yesterday listening to Discordance Axis. Man I love this band.Quoted for emphasis. This fucking album! It's economics alone are astounding: No other music (i know at least) manages to completely draw you into such a tight ATHMOSPHERE in mere 1 minute track formats. The days i was big into grindcore are mostly over, but this monster is here to stay forever (...alone)! 10/10. Perfect.
...
OK, now for my mission of not posting in this thread without at least one NWOBHM recommendation, here's one of the most insane vocal deliveries in heavy metal history:
Sit through it, you'll know what i mean :).
Sorry if i'm getting spammy.

The mighty BROCAS HELM:
I love the production on this album, sounds like it was recorded inside a defunct washing machine lying on the side of a highway.
Hammers of Misfortune - The August Engine
Easily one of the best post 2000 (non-"extreme") metal albums all around. Singing on this album is by Mike Scalzi, whose main band (The Lord Weird) Slough Feg is definitely worth a mention, too... Traveller for example, geeky shit, concept album about the role playing game of the same name:
... and some more random NWOBHM shit, because it's just one big gold mine, that age:
^(3.00 to 4.30 min omfg)
^(when things begin to lift off around 2 min... <3)

^Best Maiden song period. Who needs Dickinson...

Yo, back from the Deathcrusher Tour date in cologne. Napalm Death, Obituary, Carcass all delivered, still i can't forgive the fact freaking VOIVOD had to open for them, blasphemy!
Played 2 songs from my favourite album of theirs "Dimension Hatröss", which also happen to have videos, so here they are:
But the best one has to be this:

i signed up to the mailing list with one email address, got the confirmation email there, but then received the store invite at a different email address which i guess i had previously registered with bleep for past purchases. maybe this is happening to others?
it did to me... was kinda surprised, too. now i got two accounts while others have none, i feel bad... :I

I 2nd this. I really dig a lot of metal artwork. The Dragged Into Sunlight art is always particularly awesome/metal.As a side note, so much of the metal coming out these days has absolutely brilliant cover art. The stuff on the Dragged Into Sunlight tracks posted a couple of pages ago is great.
Granted, tho it's quite obviously ripping off Nick Blinko from Rudimentary Peni (great band too, btw, tho not quite metal)...

edit: wrong thread XP

saw them in tilburg last year, best band ever.

Nagano was just rock solid throughout (in that regard similar to Utrecht, more fleshed out tho) but Grafenhainichen is really going places right now :O (post 50 min mark)...
