  1. i hear stuttering effects but i don't hear anything that makes it obviously sound like it was made with dblue glitch? yeah it is used quite hidden but you can sense a glitch a mile away (there is not only dblue now on the marked but they all sound alike producing the same random effect pattern autechre stopped using years ago and aphex seems to use a similair one in "In The Maze Park" once for a laugh) anyway its the mastering that really shows what all is about what songs are using obvious Glitch VST? i hear pretty presety glitch vst all over the altered carbob leak but not this one.
  2. well if you're autechre is defined by BOC like pad melodies over slightly glitched out hip hop straight forward beats, Altered Carbon's leak is for you. this new one is significantly more experimental and abstract than the Altered Carbon leak, can't say its real with any certainty but it's actually quite good, most of it the opening track on leak #2, sounds like something unreleased from the Quaristice live set
  3. i've never been able to compare anything that was a straight 24-bit stereo DVD-A vs a normal 16-bit stereo CD. A lot of the stuff i've listened to on DVD-A simply sounds better because of the center speaker / L & R speaker separation, usually they place the vocals in the center channel giving more of a 'wide' stereo field effect for the L & R channels. I wonder though if it's because of the 24-bit or it has something to do with the ac3 encoding algorithm, because correct me if im wrong but i thought DVD-A was encoded/compressed. Blue-rays are different in that they have uncompressed PCM audio.
  4. i've already preordered Oversteps from Warp on the limited edition 2 inch tape format. fuck all you digital 24-bitters, i got unlimited bits but for $1900 preorder price
  5. i have an audio engineering degree, and while what you've said here is technically true, the quantized steps thing. the 2nd part of what you say is a tad exaggerated. Only if you are mastering/mixing something that is super dedicated to the art of expressing the dynamic range like minimalist academic ambient music or quiet classical stuff would you hear anything remotely like what you described above. I would be really surprised if there was a perceivable difference between 24-bit oversteps and 16-bit oversteps. Most music doesn't try to have a very dynamic range these days, but hey i'll eat my Shoe if Oversteps was like Autechre's least compressed album. there will always be people who like to play the flea circus in front of you and claim they can 'hear' things you can't but most of the time it's bullshit, if they are trained in audio engineering or not
  6. Invisible connections, Atom Blaster & Thermo vision (the same track, cut in 2 parts). one of my favorite Vangelis : got it on cd & lp... thinks blade runner but way more minimal & abstract. http://www.amazon.com/Invisible-Connections-Vangelis/dp/B00000E30I sorry about not noticing you already said track 2 & 3 in your original post, i've been taking ambien to go to sleep recently
  7. very cool! you know i feel kind of regretful because i kind of wrote off Vangelis' post 1980 output, i own everything he's done on vinyl before this including his first 2 psychedelic rock lps. thanks for telling me about this khov! i had no idea he was doing stuff that wasn't generic new agey in the mid 80s
  8. if you can find out please let me know which Vangelis song specifically, i am a big fan of his music and own most of it on vinyl. my wife's favorite Quaristice track is parallel suns because it reminds her of Amber (her fave ae album)
  9. the type of anticipation i'm experiencing right now feels like a mental illness
  10. my guess is it has little to do with Warp and more to do with Ae's personal wishes. Warp has never to my knowledge held back samples this long before a highly anticipated release. Hudson Mohawke 'Butter' had an album sampler long before it leaked, Totem's Flare did as well. Squarepusher put a full track from JAS on his myspace a half of a year before JAS came out. re: albums with guest Mcs, i think overall it cheapens what an artist is doing. If you want to do an album with a vocalist, go release it under a different name. because honestly i listen to electronic music for the most part because i don't like vocals in very much of my music. I
  11. i have not heard a single electronic artist do a 'guest mc' album that is anything but derivative scenster shit mochipet, amon tobin, machinedrum, etc they've all made one of these horrible black marks in their discography
  12. a serious 'your mom' swipe in a dubstep thread, lol
  13. welcome to our cove! this is question is for you, not autechre do you recognize any bits off Oversteps that were played out during AE's Quaristice tour live show? early versions of IO & Chenc9 were first played in the Untilted 2005 tour, this is why i ask this
  14. i dont think thats what Warp meant by watermarking, watermarking is when you put an invisible inaudible data along with the audio files so that if/when they leak the record company can trace it back to the original person. I honestly don't believe this has ever been done though i think it's always been a scar tactic from the record companies. A voice saying something would be identical on the same promo copy kind of like the new 2562 unbalance promo. again not a watermark , just annoying
  15. he has the tendency to be how do i say, a *little* bit of a show boater . If you got a fucking promo copy at least elaborate on it instead of teasing the shit out of people
  16. i thought it was common knowledge that this was a lie designed to scare a reviewer out of leaking it. i had a Quaristice promo before it came out, and i assure you it was 100% identical digitally and aurally to the commercial CD.
  17. they are probably all shaking in their boots too because the WARP instructions probably told them to wait at least a month before or something i cant think of another reason why they wouldn't be talking about it yet unless they were scared
  18. well isn't it rather obvious why they do that? it's to get the album hyped up to the max so more people will eventually buy it yes but does this still work? cd sales have been declining everywhere without exception, genre is irrelevant. To me something like Avatar-day, the 16 minute free 3d preview for a select group of people months in advance to the release was a very smart marketing ploy to get word of mouth buzz going. If you show absolutely nothing for the product you are hyping 2 months off, the word of mouth buzz can't possibly become more than 'im really excited to hear this' it's antiquated as fuck to only give an early copy to a reviewer and not a fan imo, at least warp should make a youtube sampler like they did for Hudson Mohawke and Clark
  19. they are afraid to leak it, if they get found out by WARP, WARP may take them off the promo list. it's similar to why reporters didn't speak that badly about George W Bush for such a long time, they didnt want to loose exclusive access to interviews with his staff, etc
  20. i think human ego and pride will not be able to stop a promo from leaking, someone is bound to want to impress one of their friends by showing them a rip of the promo and thats how it starts. i mean just look at all these people writing 'pre-reviews' you can tell they are experiencing pleasure similar to those ones who post the first comment on an article and say 'FIRST!!!!'
  21. it's just an antiquated system that will eventually stop being used. Rephlex knows whats up and i really admire them for having for instant download over 4 releases before they were even announced.
  22. twitter doesn't seem like it's going to help as far as i can tell because its just slower paced version of a msg board and takes longer for a gullible twitterer to get called out for downloading a fake and thinking its the real thing.
  23. for some reason i'm not 100% believing that Devine received a promo copy
  24. sounds like you haven't heard this supposed leak yet. it shouldn't take you very much energy to find the download in this thread. if you call exposing something as a fake as arrogant, what do you call excitedly exclaiming 'im sure this is autechre guys it has to be' is it fair to call that incredibly stupid? i don't think its fair to label as either but lets be balanced here if we're going down that road
