  1. I do. I also remember how pissed off I was when I missed the boat on the special edition. It sold out between the time I heard about it and the time I found my wallet. Not this time :D
  2. Yes it is. Fuck it. I ordered the vinyl + 24 bit WAV version without hesitation. The one constant in my life over the past 14 years is that I am a nerdy Autechre fanboy. The more & the higher quality versions of any of their work I have the happier I am. <3
  3. Nothing was misspelled. But the sentence had a slight punctuation error. The correct punctuation would be:
  4. yeah, word. I'm gonna respect this. but I've got to say that's a doozy on the WHOIS. don't they have P.O. boxes in the UK?? bit of a blunder there. I hope he doesn't get any crazed nerds coming to his house now.
  5. actually I think I'll pass. I don't want to scare him off.
  6. wow... yeah... that's... interesting. I didn't even think of that. nope, something else entirely.
  7. o shits. I found something. does I want to share? :embrassed:
  8. I may have more intel. Will report back later...
  9. hmm... this... is... technically superb. great syncing, obviously you put a lot of work into it. but I have to be a naysayer and say that I think it would've been a lot better if you put more effort into the planning stages. I think your concept is weak. watching those little cylinders get arranged in a line somehow isn't that exciting to me. it looked more like a transcription of the music where Gantz Graf (the only other truly synaesthetic video I've ever seen, and for the same band, and what looks like a similar shader/tracer so yes it's inevitable that the comparison is drawn) was more of an interpretation. Gantz Graf makes me high because it feels like I'm watching a top secret military weapon in a testing facility. not a pixel is wasted, there isn't one extraneous polygon. I didn't get that impression with this video. it was fun though, again, you did a really excellent job with the concept that you did have. and I actually liked the colors. it's possible that I only have mixed feelings about this because this is one of my favorite tracks from Quaristice and I was just floored the first time I heard it. I had much different imagery in my head. in short, this video just isn't tense/scary enough to do the original justice. but I applaud you for trying.
  10. I certainly appreciate Cichli for its flow with the rest of the album. It's also interesting how much it sounds like Keynell 4, which I do really like. I wish I had Key Nell on vinyl so I could mix it with Cichli but I'm not going to shell out $50 or $100 for the 12". :P Yeah, that's another reason why I dig Chiastic so much, there were still lots of parallels between the Gescom and Autechre material at this time, even the same samples in places. I like Hub! It reminds me of an abandoned train station. Yup, to each their own :) As far as timbre and aesthetics, I think this album is perfect. This was the most cohesive Autechre ever and I think after this they decided that wasn't as interesting to them as finding new sounds and new ways to mess with people's heads.
  11. I don't see how a 5/4 rhythm is any sort of cliche. Are you sure you're talking about cichli? Yep. I'm sure. Track 4 on the CD, B1 on the record. After Tewe and before Hub. Sure, there's not too many tracks in 5/4 but the timbres/samples just sound really lame to me. Something doesn't have to be a facsimile of something cliched to feel tired. Mostly it's just not subtle, at all, and the subtlety is one of my favorite things about Autechre. I guess that one just didn't age well but like I said I find it at least tolerable now.
  12. This was my fave AE for a long time. I tend to associate this album with Seward, Alaska and with cloudy, cool, rainy weather in general. I have fond memories of standing at the front of a tour boat in Seward the summer my family moved to Alaska. The boat was going fairly fast, and I stared down into the water as Rettic AC came on in my headphones. 3 brown dolphins weaved around each other, just ahead of the boat. They raced along for the remainder of the track. Defin itely one of my favorite memories of Alaska. All that said, I dig this album except Cichli. Lots of people seem to say the exact opposite, that Cichli is pretty and the rest is basically a waste. Cichli is just kind of mediocre to me, the beats are like every electronic music cliche and the melody feels kind of sentimental and forced. I've grown to appreciate it, mostly for the strings that feel kind of like the first track of Garbage, and I also like the kind of glowy, aquatic pad.
  13. It's good. The 2 tracks before it and particularly the one after it, chenc9, are starting to grow on me. I'm pretty familiar with the first half of the album by now so I don't need to listen to it as much for a while, much as I adore all the tracks starting with P (including The Plc) I don't know what the big deal is on here with Steels. It's not great but it's OK. It's much better than that stupid Fol3. Sounds like a reject from Minidisc run through some kind of granulator and then a LFO->pan.
