  1. animals should not try to act like people is a really good buy. The cd is ok... there are 5 tracks. The Carpainter and the Dainty bride is AWESOME, some really classic Ler guitarwork. Picher's Squad is a weird one but a good'n Mary the ice cube is shit Rapscallion is the best on the album for sure. Holy Shit. Jizzed my pants just thinking about it, and then jizzed my pants again thinking about how I jizzed my pants thinking about... oh my..... My friend fats is just shite. ugh.. The dvd is more than worth the purchase though, as primus's music vids are all completely genius Anybody here have Blame it on the fish or the hallucinogenetics dvds? Both of them are incredibly solid, especially Blame it on the fish
  2. I second the brown album. Holy shit. Every single track on that album is absolutely fantastic. Golden boy is a definate highlight.
  3. fuckin love primus! There is only a few songs by them that I dont like, like Pork Soda, and Is it luck? Saw them live in ottawa for the bluesfest for what may be their last show ever together. Awesome show! The best part is I got into them after they broke up so I was never expecting to see them live, and one day I noticed they were on the setlist for bluesfest. Blew my god damn mind.
  4. also yeah i'm not looking to spend much more than $60-$80. Again i dont need anything professional, just good quality sound and durable
  5. I have been using a $40 pair of skullcandy headband style headphones. Kinda shit. Actually the sound quality is fantastic but I have NO idea what they designers were thinking when they used the plastic. Tofu would have been a stronger decision. I'm looking for headband style, or the ones that go behind your head. I fucking hate earbuds so don't even start with that. What do you guys use? I don't mind them being somewhat big, but not too huge. I am not using them for performing or anything, but I want some really decent sound quality so I can hear all the subtleties of the music.
  6. holy shit thanks so much for the suggestions ppl, looks like I gots me some fresh ear candy for the next few weeks/months I am making a point of downloading each and every album recommended here and giving it a thorough go. So far I'm seriously Digging Arovane and monolake, and that Moustache album is REALLY fuckin weird but after a once through it is fucking solid. Also Brownout is fantastic as well.
  7. fuck 3tronic. I totally understand an artist wanting to sample another artist but this is why 3tronic is gayer than a bunch of dudes having an orgy: -He ONLY samples autechre, and he does so on just about every track -He makes music that sounds nearly identical to autechre If you are going to sample an artists, generally you put your own twist on the sound instead of just trying to make something that sounds like unreleased material by that artist. for example, ae samples hip hop beats and stuff. They would not sample other IDM music, what the fuck is the point of that when you have enough control over your music to make it sound EXACTLY how you want, to turn around and rip off another artists original ideas. It is not hard to sound original but if you HAVE to sample, at least take shit from a different fucking genre. And for god's sake if all else fails AT LEAST HAVE THE ORIGINALITY TO PUT A NEW SPIN ON IT!!!! This guy is just creating more 'autechre' music using other autechre music.... terrible, terrible.
  8. My best buddy was not really into electronic music. I had tried to show him autechre a few times but he never really got into it. One day we drove to a parking lot and smoked a huuuge spliff while Gelk was playing. Once the drop happens in that track he was like "OH MAN that is fucking AWESOME!" at which point i began to explain to him how the autechre tracks often evolve like that, or switch up completely part of the way through. He has been a semi-fan ever since. Moral of the story: Smoke someone on a spliff and blast the tunes (Good bass is key here) and they will enjoy it, even if its just for the time they are stoned, but they will subsequently be more open minded
  9. I ALWAYS blare it with the windows down if its warm enough to do so. Its much better when you are giving a friend and FoF a lift and that FoF has never heard of AE and has never met you before, but regardless you put on the most difficult AE track (gantz graf or bine or something) and just blare it incredibly loudly. Most people dont like it lol
  10. I'm definately going to check out your album when I get home from work. I've yet to hear a FANTASTIC album from an artist who is not too famous/busy to discuss the music with afterwards you now. Also yeah I have all Richard Devine's albums, and Bola's too. Both are pretty effing stellar. Thanks for the continued input folks.
  11. yeah i cant believe i forgot to put aphex on the list, I have heard all of his stuff before. I have ISS:SSA too, but i'll definately check that other stuff out, thx!
  12. So I have been pretty much exclusively listening to the following few artists: Autechre, BoC, Plaid, Bonobo, Squarepusher and Clark I'm looking for something more in the vein of Ae/Clark style music. I'm NOT looking for anything with vocals, and I much prefer synth over real recorded instruments. Any good suggestions? Thx all
  13. yeah man that jimmy edgar vid was top notch. Easily some of the most impressive cg i've ever seen, even including CG done by huge teams. You, my friend, are going places
  14. If I had the money, I would personally fund a design team tasked with creating a visual accompanyment to their entire back log. I dont even give a shit if its all very similar and contrived, its just awesome.
  15. Holy shit dude, I think I am going to have to masturbate to this picture when I get home from work. I want to get their stuff in vinyl, especially now that CD is becoming obsolete because I dont mind having an iPod with iTrip hooked up to play music in the car (which is the only time I ever use cd's) but if I had a little bit of extra spending money right now I would certainly invest in the vinyl for that. Surface noise is awesome plus you can play diff speeds. The best part is the huge cover art tho. I'm definately a sucker for good album art, esp AE's
  16. the french voice in zeiss contarex is fucking brilliant
  17. The association made between electronic music and drugs is really annoying. I don't take drugs and I listen to Autechre almost every day. I hate seeming like a stereotypical drug advocate but if you have never listened to AE under the influence of anything, I strongly urge you to make a point of doing it at some point. It doesnt even really matter what you are on, but the reason its so awesome compared to other music is that it is made for listening to and paying attention to, and on psyches all of the details become much more apparent. Not to mention you get to listen to every track with genuine novelty like its the first time you are hearing it.
  18. LMFAO, its really too bad that is the kind of joke that can only ever be appreceated by hardcore AE nerds like us. Some memorable situations: Played IO for my mom in the car, she lost it and said it was horrible and she was actually shockingly upset that I somehow enjoy that kind of music. Honestly I have never seen my mom so perturbed in my life, so I did what any respectable child would do and told her 'while I'm driving, its my music' and continued to play. When I was listening to AE at Boston Pizza when I was a cook there, the bartender came by and stopped dead. He had a look of complete stupor on his face. He looked at me, then the cd player, then back at me, then back at the cd player, and then he said "you take drugs don't you?" lol, and i do. And my absolute favourite - 'Where are the words? What? theres no words? How do you sing along?' for some undefinable reason, alot of people just completely dont understand the concept of instrumental music. These must be the same people that are infinitely confused by other objects of boundless mystery such as child-proof medicine caps, mechanical pencils and all tropical fruits with un-edible skin.
  19. hate to break it to you bro but pot brownies dont work unless they are cooked. unless he friend the dope in oil/butter at first and then used that to make the batter after.
  20. Lucio if you were to render entire AE albums into video i would pay top dollar, i've always thought that the ae music would be perfect accompanyment for an epic animated film
  21. Yeah, i'm glad you made me realize that its true this track is not incredible dr. clitterhaus because i honestly hadn't even judged the song for myself i just made a random decision to like it but thanks alot dude
  22. absolutely amazing are you planning on doing some more ae vids? I can't wait to see more
  23. I listened to this track in its entirety whilst tripping on shrooms this weekend and I've got to say it was really deep, absolutely mind-blowing experience:)
  24. I thoroughly enjoy how there is like a perlence scale going on. you have Perlence Range 7 - The most expansive perlence | \/ Perlence Range 3 - The most comprehensive overview of perlence | \/ Perlence | \/ Perlence Subrange 3 - A more ambient sounding perlence, focusing on the bass. | \/ Perlence losid 2 - A nice beaty ambient piece with a very perlencey feel | \/ Perlence subrange 6-36 - A slower, much larger sounding and physically longer perlence. Perlence suns is a sidestep
