This sounds like a pirate radio mix, recorded in 1992.

I guess that is the point.  If he wants to keep on releasing 12" rather than albums then that is fine by me.

I thought this too, not that specifically but how much this sounds like a 12+ minute excerpt of DJ mix that didn't finish downloading.

Zomby-esque percussion around 6:30, I like the second half of this more. I like it but it's a weird track.

^ 2 hour mix of my favorite tracks.

Favorite albums, alphabetical order by title and not ranked:

Windy & Carl - Allegiance and Conviction

    Soccer Mommy - color theory

    Loma - Don't Shy Away

    Sewersvlt - Draining Love Story

Tim Heidecker (feat. Weyes Blood) - Fear of Death

    George Clanton & Nick Hexum - S/T

Ssaliva - God Room AND I'm the One with No Soul

Torn Hawk - Here Comes The Language

Burial / Four Tet / Thom Yorke - Her Revolution/His Rope

    Cindy - I'm Cindy

Daniel Avery & Alessandro Cortini - Illusion of Time AND Love + Light

    White Poppy - Paradise Gardens

    Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher

    Andrea - Ritorno

Perfume Genius - Set My Heart On Fire Immediately

    Mary Lattimore - Silver Ladders

Cindy Lee - What's Tonight To Eternity

Khrungbin and Washed Out put out decent albums but not worth EOY list. Angel Olsen was great as always but more of an alternate release + previously unreleased. This new Maggie Rogers album seems similar - haven't listened to it yet. Dang Olsen Dream Tape (just stumbled upon) Yppah, Caribou, Nathan Micay, Omar-S, DMX Krew, SW., Khotin and Tennis and are notable mentions. Dubbed a lot of great tapes for Aural Canyon.

Heavy on female vocal indie rock as my local public radio station listening habits tend to lean me toward. The Ssaliva albums were some of the most interesting and engrossing I've heard all year. The Tim Heidecker album was oddly comforting and appropriate for this fucking dumpster fire of a year including a close death in January and the silver lining of spending more time at home with my family. There was an under the radar album I just heard in the last week that's hopefully going to get a physical release next year so I'll hold off on posting it. Honestly I revisited a lot of stuff too and listened to more podcasts than every before, my favorite new one being This Is Branchburg.

    that one is awesome.

I’ve listened to his stuff for several years but 2020 was the first I’ve listened on headphones lol. Tbh I was at times genuinely surprised at the level of detail in certain tracks I hadn’t previously noted.

I couldn't quite pin down why but this makes sense why his stuff stands out in the fairly bloated genre of drone/ambient

Wow. For us with one foot in pop/rock and one foot in electronic music, and...well...the crotch in ambient, this is really nice stuff. How does his other albums compare? I recently discovered Durutti Column, and I need more of that dreamy guitar-ambient music.

North Americans is good too, really similar. Same with rootless, Mat Eric Hart, and Talk West

William Ryan Fitch and Ancient Ocean have put out some ambient leaning stuff with a western bent.

Farrah Abraham did Hyper Pop in the BUtt.

I had no idea about that album until last year. Apparently it's a /mu and RYM touted cult classic. It is a wild listen.

To answer the question of the thread: I feel like it's simply the pop music of "now"

i think overall he has something of a everything but the kitchen sink style but also the kitchen sink, which is what i can't get into really.

I'm totally stealing this for the future

I largely agree, I feel like there's an element of PR and marketing that still kind of slips in that I think might account for what you hit on and it's a bit too on the nose. I feel like that's dogged all of his post-Warp signing stuff in general. It might not even be that factor but just the overall direction of the project not letting some stuff speak for itself without more garnish.

some happy trips down memory lane listening to those old ones. I had nostalgia for listening to nostalgic synth music.

I'm starting to feel that way when I revisit tapes I bought in the early 10s and especially when I re-listened to a bunch of chillwave that turned 10 years old not long ago

i hate and resignedly love the artwork

it kind of encapsulates his more worts and all take on retro aesthetics which is why I like it so much

this whole album has that vibe, so much retro synth stuff is very clean and revisionist and redundant AF whereas the more unabashed stuff like late 00s / early 10s hypnagogic pop was cheesy and raw to the point of gimmick or being off-putting but over the years he's seemed to find a good balance

this album actually takes on nostalgia's good, bad, and ugly nuances and depth

Fact checkers in the US combing through his speech - they say it's riddled with false claims, inaccurate information and inconsistencies.

Pretty much like the last four years, to be honest.

I'd like to see a fact checker to about the other way - attempt to find honest statements and coherent opinions in his speeches

twitter's bar is low and it's hilarious seeing every other tweet of his flagged or removed, he's throwing a goddamn hissy fit

that all said stay safe my fellow Americans, besides the stop counting Karens it's been eerily calm and the recent protests have already demonstrated cops are ready to crack some skulls - the delusions of Trump are still in fact inspiring violent zeal among the armed MAGA fringe

Anyone have good tips to avoid talking about politics? I have a feeling that most conservatives I know will want a go at me the next few weeks. Since they only know like.. 2 or 3 liberals and 100 other conservatives. I don't wanna be their "evil anti-christ'" Biden analog they can argue with.

Speaking from experience, be curt, don't give them rope, don't let them tangent to whatever bullshit talking point they want to parrot. Really, really dig into your ideology and moral beliefs. Don't even bother with trying to keep up with specific news stories or theories or angles. Just call them out when they lie, don't react with some liberal actually angle.

Bernie Sanders is a good example TBH. He always just said "Trump is a liar and crook, here's what I believe and here's what we need to do to fix things." Don't even entertain them. Below is a good strategy and I'm not being sarcastic. Laugh off their absurdity and be blunt about your views.
