  1. another one for the tru fans! bring it! :music:

i've literally been listening to one of the 4 soundboards every day since they've dropped.

and just when i thought that maybe i might be able to absorb all of them... BOOM!

  2.

Additionally, Lynch will direct all the episodes, filming one long script as a continuous movie and then editing it into episodes.

hmmm... interesting approach. sounds like the reverse of how he made Inland Empire.

  3.

damn! i was sold on this synth 15 seconds into this video. that "Jurassic" patch later on is awesome too.

...then i saw the ebay prices.

crazy that this synth came out in 1994.

Yamaha is sitting on such awesome technology and instead we get... Reface. :nope:

  4. what's cool is that we're still going to be receiving new Pluto pics & data from the probe for another year. supposedly they're mostly receiving diagnostic stuff now & the bulk of the images won't start coming in until September.

  5. i think it's also a generational thing. people in their late 30's and up remember him for the Cosby show. It's hard to overstate how popular that show was back in the day. #1 show for years running and everbody thought Bill Cosby was the man. plus he just had the wise/smart/funny father image going on. he basically was his character 24/7 while in the public eye. there may have been rumors of things going on amongst a few people but without the existence of the internet & social media, those rumours aren't going to get very far. no major news network would touch something like that for a number of reasons.

todays younger generation (also the people most active on social media) have no memory of him or the Cosby show. to them he is just some old dude that used to be famous back in the day getting accused by a large number of women all with similar stories. they don't have any exposure to his old public persona and thus it is a lot easier for them to accept the possibility that he did these things. the Buress thing was some small random spark that just happened to turn into a wildfire on twitter & youtube.

  6. wow! i was expecting a mostly featureless ice ball but pluto has some seriously complex terrain.

i think they actually missed some of the most interesting stuff as it rotated out of view before the craft got close enough for high-rez imaging. i wonder why they didn't put New Horizons in orbit? you spend 9 years getting there you might as well stay for a little bit.

  7. you can tell these things were designed entirely by their (clueless) marketing department, and not by anyone who actually uses synths.

it's even more sad given that a fan already went ahead and designed the perfect synths for them. all they had to do was build them.

  8. well it looks like whatever it is, it's definitely gonna be retro / a remake / re-creation of some of their older synths.

i'm totally over all this retro stuff. come up with something new. it's 2015, for fucks sake.

  9. i'm super excited for this. i've always been really curious about Pluto ever since i was a kid.

and lets face it - unless some aliens land on the white house lawn or something, this will probably be the last major space discovery in our lifetimes.

...some Europa fishes would be cool, tho.

  10. yeah, there's no grand conspiracy here. Lynch wanted more money & more episodes to do the story the way he wanted to do it.

Showtime balked. Lynch walked. Showtime caved.

I think this is nothing but positive because Lynch is going into this knowing exactly how many episodes he has to work with, what needs to happen in each episode, how much time he has to move from beginning to end... much better than writing for an open-ended series where your trying to maintain suspense & keep the story going indefinitely (like Lost). He clearly had this plotted out for x amount of episodes and Showtime was trying to scale it back to keep it under a certain budget.

  11. if it's true that showtime pulled the plug on this, then it won't be long before some other company is going to swoop in on it. this already got a lot of publicity.

EDIT: looks like showtime didn't pull the plug -

We just received the this message from David Lynch's office:

Dear Facebook Friends, David wanted me to pass along the following statement:

Showtime did not pull the plug on Twin Peaks.

After one year and four months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done.

This weekend I started to call actors to let them know I would not be directing.

Twin Peaks may still be very much alive at Showtime.

I love the world of Twin Peaks and wish things could have worked out differently.
