  1. Makes me laugh. My best mate (friends since nursery school) cunt of a wife is always posting up fucking numbskulled, pathetic, childish, corny quotes about friendship. Every fucking week they turn up. This is the same fucking cunt who made it her absolute number 1 priority in life to make sure good old Chris was seperated from his best friends. I've seen him once in a decade. And check this out. When she found out he was down the pub with me and Matthew, she refused to pick him up from the pub, told him not to get a taxi and made him walk back to the hotel. Don't get me wrong I don't spend time investigating all this shit or dwelling on it, just an observation I made this morning. Apart from her I find FB pretty boring to be honest, just middle aged folk with pictures of their cats or birthdays with their family. All pretty harmless stuff. It's really good for my fishing clubs as you are constantly 'in the know' with what's going on, on the bank, river/lake conditions, working parties and club politics and helping new members. On the whole Facebook serves me well in that respect.

SOCIAL MEDIA LEGEND. REAL LIFE CUNT.

  2. I guess I better watch this Baby Reindeer thing that every motherfucker is talking about.

Meanwhile I have finished Season 3 of Bates Motel. Hmmm season 3 not as good as the first two. Mainly because Normans brother isn't such a bad boy anymore and the story with the drug cartel stuff, with all the shifty dark underbelly of town folk hasn't been as prominent. He's been moping about the motel looking sorry for himself and worrying about his brother. Hopefully in Season 4 that comes back.

A friend suggested I watch The Red King as it's massively influenced by The Wicker Man, was surprised I hadn't heard of this. If you like The Wicker Man then you will like this. An solid 8/10.

He also suggested I watch something called The Third Day with Jude Law. Again very much in the same vein as The Red King/Wicker Man. So plenty to get on with.

Bacon of Canada, I get it now. 🥓

No. I'm just saying I'm ready for the main meal, not the sides. Nothing to do with bacon lol 😀 (though obviously there is plenty of possible bacon on a pig....)

You have to get use to my Wolfman gibberish Fredd! I'd suggest not reading too much tbh.

    What?

Calm down Fredd, I'll have a listen later. Though I actually know quite a lot of those tunes, maybe three quarters of them. After your last visit I was hoping for something much more juicy than a playlist with some odds and ends on. The Wait (that's another Killing Joke tune) continues....

  5. Same. About 10 years ago my interest in new music suddenly nose dived. But I figured I had three decades of intense music discoveries to go back and relisten to which gave me great happiness and I also did a lot of intense investigating into the back catalogues of those artists, so I wasn't just wallowing in nostalgia (a place I'm a bit wary of) and I found this more rewarding than listening to new music.

I was finding all most all new music I was listening to I would say 'that sounds like such past artist and they did it better' 'that sounds like such past band and they did it better' not a good mindset. I also went through a phase, as an experiment of going out my way to listen to Pitchforks best rated albums by new artists, I can't remember liking any of them, most of them I'd bin after a few tracks. So of course one comes to the question. Is it because I'm getting old and cannot connect with new music? Or is new music just crap? I don't actually know.

Off the top of my head the only artists I listen to who aren't relatively ancient is Sunn O, OPN and Skee Mask. Though the first two aren't exactly spring chickens 😀

    Getting silly now, Mike.  Please.

You said that last year, and the year before, and the year before that! 😎 🍺

    Mike? Please!

  7. Lol I went through his whole back catalogue (well selected 4 or 5 tracks off every album) a few months ago and probably have another dozen albums to get through. Bonkers. But surprisingly the decent stuff is very decent indeed. This man keeps his listeners on their toes that's for sure.

  8. I quite like watching band documentaries if there is a good story to tell, even if the music sucks. UB40 would be a classic example. Back in the early 90's they were fucking huge (they were quite popular in the 80's) but they were selling out football stadiums in the early 90's. They get home after some huge world tour. Where's the money? There isn't any! The record industry since day one of the blues artists has been the devils work. And the cunt who runs Spotify is the latest shadowy character making deals at The Crossroads.

  9. Wasn't it always the case, that bands even fairly big ones made little money from record sales, even back in the day when record companies were charging £13 for a CD. Pretty sure it was, apart from maybe a few exceptions (U2 springs to mind) Pretty sure there was even a UK government enquiry into it. Wasn't it the reason why George Michael and Prince both rebelled against their record companies because they made hardly any money from record sales because of the original contracts they signed as youngsters? I remember Don Henley saying he made a few thousand dollars from one of his biggest multi million selling solo hits because David Geffen personally screwed him over on some contract technicality. I think sometimes people are looking back with rose tinted glasses and think that everyone back in the day before streaming made a mint by being in fairly well known band. What I'm saying is that it's mostly been the case that musicians have been ripped off by the music industry. Spotify isn't new in that respect.

I haven't read this thread in its entirely so maybe there is something I'm missing, but just thinking out loud really.

Watered down remake, which was a product of its time; no ponytails or fake breasts, but there is man ass. Only Jake has any real charisma, it’s mostly bad actors and weird CG smear in the action scenes, like Scott Pilgrim. Then it gets mired in an episode of the week family drama.

Lot of people I know have watched this and its supposed to be fucking terrible, especially that gimp Connor MacGregor (or whatever his name is)
