A lot of people lurk... and right now things are quiet music-wise, no? I can tell you over the past 20 years, it's consistently been like this.

What do you think would increase people posting (and is quantity over quality what we want), or more members to join? Do we really want that?

Yes true, we are slightly quiet on "big" releases but loads going on in self release / digital world.

I guess I just saw the record being beaten and looked at recent posts... Quality is definitely preferable to quantity as has been the case recently.  Not a complaint more an observation

Apparently Texas recorded more cases yesterday alone than Australia has during the entire pandemic. Similar pop. (29 v 25 mill).

Melbourne has seen a recent flare up resulting in 10 hot spot postcodes returning to lockdown in the last few days. Not technically a second wave, but on a people level sad for those forced back into retreat for 4 weeks.

This is going to be the norm, worldwide, for the next 2 years, minimum.

    Well done bojo!!!

Interest stats.  In the first 2 lists I think we are the most ethnically diverse country, and also have the highest population density? Saw something today pointing to that being an reason why Leicester is continuing its lockdown... Don't a lot of Americans have German / Irish heritage? Need to check that.

Germany was riding it out at around 5% excess deaths when I last saw it, so obviously the mass testing program early on really paid dividends.

BoJo looked knackered in his press conference today - by my reckoning the baby will be coming up to 3 months and I recall that being a particularly stressful period!!

    Edit:

I also think its too early to compare country to country, but yeah, we not did good

Does that guy record his entire life to twitter? Seems like a constant rolling commentary of everything he does.

Edit: Also, thanks for reminding me about Brexit! Had forgotten all about it ?

My personal interpretation of Season 3 means that

      Reveal hidden contents

making any further continuation of the show would undermine the whole point of Season 3

    Yes,

"limited series event" rather than S3

There isn't going to be a Season 4.

Maybe not, but a movie or short series would be amazing... something related to the TP universe.... anything.... gush

starts really fucking great but by the second season it turns itself into a major shitstorm...... what'cha think about those montages with corny songs in the end of each episode? lol

Hey, I loved season 2. Can' wait to start s3 on Saturday.  Addictive as hell, and really great they are wrapping everything up.

  8. ... and pretty much 4 years on from the start of the project I am calling it a day (for now...).

It was a great experience making this zine and I made loads of great connections with people all over the world.

But my life situation is changing and I want to concentrate on making sounds for a while, so mothballing the zine for a bit.  Might resurrect one day as I had a couple of cool interviews lined up for issue 8!

Any remaining stock of back issues I find as I pack up to move will go up on the snare rush website.

Thanks for the watmm support on this over the years, sorry I never got that interview with RDJ or the bullwallet zine finished.  Hey ho.

  9. i've read some dangerous stuff posted online like "close all prisons"

wtf you gonna do with the rapists and murderers then? Not everyone can be put through a rehab course and listening circle and come out an angel.

There are some scum on this planet - tis human nature.  Just a shame that some of them got jobs in wrong places.

  10. Have really enjoyed some of Bizzy's late night sessions, he rinses out some amazing tunes.  WIll watch his production vids, thanks for sharing.

He gave me a demo CD at the bangface weekender about 8 years ago after we got chatting at the bar, such a decent geezer! And I was fairly wasted but maybe he was too.

    Somewhat related...

My man Bizzy B (legendary OG Junglist pioneer) has been putting up production videos, largely focusing on Jungle/DNB tips, but the info applies to just about every genre. Recently, he’s been giving pre-mastering tips, mostly aimed at beginners.

He is definitely worth a watch/follow (if anything, to check out his “Amen Therapy” live sets... honestly, they have been some of the biggest sources of joy for me throughout this whole pandemic quarantine situation).

  11. Mix and EQ is pretty much most of it.

Lockdown has seen me in a fairly creative flurry but the mastering process has made me feel fairly shoddy about the release I have planned.  I wanted the whole thing to be totally DIY - a snapshot of the covid lockdown and what I could achieve - but a lot of the time I lilsten back to what I have recorded and I just don't like it any more.

Have read up a fair bit on EQ, mastering, filters, etc... some really interesting work methods out there.

I guess the online services are fine if you have a 4/4 house track where you want "pumping" bass and side chained vocal compression.  Not sure they will cater much for noise inspired industrial dronecore.

  12. Reallocation of funds is definitely a more worthwhile exercise.

    Side rant:

Last month in the UK a 100 year old war veteran raised £32,000,000 for the NHS by walking 100 laps around his garden.  Of course the media picked up on it and it went viral, hence why so many people chipped in.  Yes, his actions should be applauded.  But basically we should question why that £32mil was needed so desperately by the NHS in the first place.

AND then BoJo went and gave him a knighthood.  Not for putting his life on the line for fighting in World War 2 or Burma, but for propping up the funding of the NHS that is so desperately lacking from BoJo's own party, a pat on the back for a stealth tax.

Again, from a position of privilege, I would actually be OK with paying a little more in tax if I knew the money was going to the NHS, rather than having to watch a near crippled war veterans raise it through a charitable act.  There probably is enough capital in the tax slush though to properly fund the NHS if other sectors took a cut. I dunno.

Perhaps a large number of police responses in social situations would be better responded to by an NHS department or a new social relations group.  Just a thought.

  13. People talking about disbanding the police and questioning whether we need prisons.  lol. Of course we do.  What do you want to do with all the rapists and murderers once they realise there are no cops on the streets to go after them? We can't exactly ship them off to Australia anymore....

A lot of people made a shit ton of money out of the likes of Grand Theft Auto.  Entertainment culture needs to take a look in the mirror if you want kids to stop shooting each other.

Education needs improving across the board.  We want integration of the vast number of different minority groups living in the UK? Sure - but don't bury the past and the reasons why many people either settled here or were historically brought here - learn from it. Teach it in schools.  Don't glorify it.  Sure, if removing the statues helps, do it.  But put something else up in their place that commemorates the people and not the person.

    Edit

I'm pretty fired up about this today.  Will probably delete / alter later.  Don't hate me.

PS I still think Papa Lazarou on league of gentlemen is funny.  Yeah its blackface but its a character in a satirical fictional world where EVERY character in the show is a send-off of someone. You're a job seeker? You're a vet? You're a teacher? You're a taxi driver looking to switch genders? LOG got your back.

PPS Sorry I know.  I'm a heterosexual white male, educated, have a job, a mortgage, am able bodied, am married to a woman and we have 2 natural children.  Privileged as fuck. You hate my opinion.  Sometimes my depression kicks in because I hate the inequality of the world so much.
