aren't those somewhat contradictory? I actually think tri rep to be the most subtle of ae's catalog. highly repetitious but still crammed with changes ever so slight, Rest assured I was using them in a non-contradictory way ;) I don't want to get off the topic of tri repetae, but i'll just say that I am to chiastic slide as you are to tri rep.

I love that! It's so alluring because the pitter-patter texture is so nice but it's too quiet to really hear clearly. The best part is when everything drops out but the percussion (like about 4:50). Probably my favorite part of the whole album besides Clipper. However this is one of my least favorite ae albums. I love the Tri Repetae sounds, but not so much the Tri Repetae organization of those sounds. Chi Slide is infinitely more dynamic and subtle imo.

I dunno because I've seen people jacking all over his shit, and I mean really hailing the guy, which got me real interested, then I put on his music and it's just terrible. He should've stuck to making stylish video stuff. He's a good producer in the sense that he knows how to make it snazzy, loud and wide but there's no direction & no soul... His ambient tracks are compressed beyond sanity and sound like shit though. For some reason, that embodies everything that's wrong with IDM for me, and it totally misses the point. Even autechres most wanky/glitchy tracks are autechre and whatever soul that is, and clark knows to make his compression masturba-thons interesting, but some producers seem to miss that whole thing entirely. Agreed. Also the rapping on steeltongued is embarassing
