so i don't know much about these guys, well nothing at all. my friend wanted to get into their music cause he hears it's good stuff

my friend likes groups like animal collective and sigur ros, and well psychedelic folk and indie stuff

thta's all the stuff i can think of but he appreciates music

anyway, i found a user on soulseek with a huge ammount of can stuff, what should i check out and burn for my friend for christmas? :phone:

we've been trying to find it forever, this music, and i finally discovered it myself so i'm sure it will be a nice surprise

i read they were influenced by the velvet underground

it would be nice to know what album sounds like that... that would be "safe"

and then to know which album is "out there"

safe and unsafe

best of both worlds

ok i'll be quite now

:waits:

Future Days - most of it takes work, with rich rewards. However if you don't immeditely like the track "Moonshake", I'd have to question whether you like music at all. Ditto "One More Night" off Ege Bamyasi, which is probably a more entertaining record all round. But the title track of "Future Days" is probably a distillation of the things that are special about CAN.

cannibalism I is a good compilation apparently

future days

delay 1968 is alright too

and check out faust, some people call Can fusion, and in turn refer to Faust as fission. faust is fucking incredible

plus on the whole psychedelic shit, popol vuh and agitation free - malesch, amon duul II - phallus dei, all those are great too

the 3 to go for are:

tago mago

egg bamyasi

monster movie

(after 1968 it went all shit - sacrilege is one of the worst remix albums EVER)

Can are very hit and miss. more often miss.

can are awesome! i've always thought of them as a combination of phish, kraftwerk, yes, and the grateful dead. their best stuff is ege bamyasi, future days, tago mago, and saw delight; most of their other stuff is pretty weak, imo
