I like some of his records, and dislike some others.




Say, why do you think that people use words/phrases like "ordinary", "middle of the road", "average" and "mediocre" to criticise things? They seem to me to more properly describe things that are, well, genuinely in-the-middle than things that suck. Is this symptomatic of a general cultural (or perhaps even species-typical) attitude according to which only the best is good enough?


I might make a point to listen to some records tomorrow that are neither particularly good nor bad. Maybe I can develop a taste for the unexceptional.
