The Wrestler

Bruce Springsteen' song made it all work. It's the exact correct moment in the movie, it starts at the exact correct frame.

Have you ever seen a one trick pony in the field so happy and free?

If you've ever seen a one trick pony then you've seen me

Have you ever seen a one-legged dog making his way down the street?

If you've ever seen a one-legged dog then you've seen me

Then you've seen me, I come and stand at every door

Then you've seen me, I always leave with less than I had before

Then you've seen me, bet I can make you smile when the blood, it hits the floor

Tell me, friend, can you ask for anything more?

Tell me can you ask for anything more?

Have you ever seen a scarecrow filled with nothing but dust and wheat?

If you've ever seen that scarecrow then you've seen me

Have you ever seen a one-armed man punching at nothing but the breeze?

If you've ever seen a one-armed man then you've seen me

Then you've seen me, I come and stand at every door

Then you've seen me, I always leave with less than I had before

Then you've seen me, bet I can make you smile when the blood, it hits the floor

Tell me, friend, can you ask for anything more?

Tell me can you ask for anything more?

These things that have comforted me, I drive away

This place that is my home I cannot stay

My only faith's in the broken bones and bruises I display

Have you ever seen a one-legged man trying to dance his way free?

If you've ever seen a one-legged man then you've seen me

Will be watching this film later tonight! :-)

I love Pi and don't want to watch the Fountain again until I get a 1080p with blu-ray.

I have the DVD -- it just doesn't look like it was mastered properly. In the theatre, it was mind blowing. It was shocking, considering how meticulous he was about the Requiem DVD.

Did you know that Darren Aro...Arof...nos...nof...sky? Aronofsky? Whatever. Did you know that the director is planning on a reassembly of The Fountain?

I do now :wink2:

I liked The Wrestler Micky Rooke does an excellent job and really carries the film through.

an interesting departure for Arronofsky too and is almost documentary like in an indie film style which keeps a steady pace and subtle interest throughout.

not as much replay value like his other films but is certainly well worth a watch.

saw this last night and enjoyed it. goddamn if tomei isnt a fuckign fox! those titties!!! rouke was good but as someone else said maybe not acting that much. the daughter business felt kinda rushed. suddenly shes grabbing his arm. can people really be bought with a nice peacoat?

best actor is a tough thing to call. infact i'm not really sure what makes great acting. is it believing that you're wanting that person not the actor playing that person? or is it how much heightened emotion you can show.

loved the scene where hes walking out to the deli and the crowd noise starts up. very clever.

i think he screwed up so much in his life because he was so used to winning fixed matches that he was useless at real life where victory is more rewarding but harder come by.

and in terms of replay value i want to watch it again already

great work from clint mansell again too. was a little bit joker theme at times

saw this last night, dvd screener.

it was okay. like, it wasn't bad. haven't seen that much of aronofsky (besides pi and requiem), nor rourke, so i can't compare. but as a movie on its own, it really wasn't that special.

This far exceeded my expectations. I can't stop thinking about it. Not that it's saying a whole lot, but this is easily Aronofsky's best film.
