BBC's 'Life'

Its a new BBC nature documentary with David Attenborough. Absolutely lovely, the bit with the Frog giving each of its tadpoles 'piggybacks' to safety brought a tear to my eye. As did when the body of the Penguin sank to the bottom of the ocean. The 'making of' at the end was great too. They are definitely dedicated to their work.

Placidburp, child, i watched the documentary last night and was amazed at the footage. The red frog (no smaller than the size of a sthumbnail) climbing a tree over and over again with its tadpoles on its back, to let its children live. The saddening sacrifice of the mother octupus, finding a cave to shelter to raise its brood, lay her eggs and effectively starving herself. The beutiful greeds (they look like ducks with cool teddy boy quiffs) dancing on water. Also The flying fish, fleeing for their lives. Breathtaking.

But i think the bit with the leopard seal "flaying" the baby pengin to death was too much. Vicious. As was "the band of brother" leopards working as a team to brutally kill an ostrich.

it depresses me to know how old david attenborough is. there is no one else remotely as good as him. nigel marven is a populistic twat, and dawkins pisses everyone the fuck off with his smugness.

the world will soon be biology-tv-show-presenter-less.

Some amazing shots again in this episode.

The scenes with the Chameleons tongue action was fantastic. And Jesus lizard was super too.

Poor Buffalo. :(

Can't wait for the next episode.

Meerkats aren't quite as sweet as made out. The reason that there is only one breeding pair at a time within a group is because the alpha pair will eat the offspring of betas. They don't tell you that on comparethemeerkat.com.

Edit: which is pretty common behaviour amongst mammals. I wonder if there's a few recessive genes in our own makeup that give us a taste for infanticide.
