what the fuck's happened to YLC? it's like the BOC subforum in there these days... who are all these people? also, severe lack of replies to things (imo, seems to be the general trend though).

I dunno, doesn't feel the same.

i remember the first time I posted a track in there, immediately got "You MUST COMMENT ON AT LEAST X NUMBER OF TRACKS BEFORE WE WILL LISTEN"

haven't posted a track on there for years.

really? who said that shit?? mental... tbh I usually only comment on tracks by a few select artists that I know I like and are good at what they do...so I shouldn't complain really. fuck it, I still am though.

I mostly listen to tracks by people whose names I recognise from general banter. I should probably comment more but unless I can suggest an improvement or I really like it, I can't think of much to say. I should post some music too.

I think you're right on the fruity loops thing...don't get me wrong - I really like fruity loops, but there do seem to be quite a lot of people with a cracked version of floops (or something) doing the "hai guyz I made teh idmz" thing and posting a lot of, sorry to say it, shite. YLC has on occasions had some very good music by very good artists, now it's full of too much crap. sorry if I'm insulting anyone's music, but there you go.

the thing i don't like about ylc is that usually only 1 person rates a track and they always rate it 5, so it looks like everything is always 5-star quality

sometimes i secretly go in and rate it 1 to even it out, except in the occasion of tracks by Jaffa which i always rate 1 because he has a tiny pen0x

We could make it so there is a minimum post count before you can post in there maybe? Jonas's idea about picking out the ten best every month is a good idea, I'd get involved in that

That section is really the most intimidating for a newbie like me. I don't think I've been in there once since joining the forum.

But I'm curious to hear what people are doing. I suppose that was the motivation behind the "tell me the inspiration behind your favourite track" thread. That I'd be much more motivated to listen to tracks if people could articulate why I should.

(Though, TBH, has making music *ever* been novel?)

I totally would if someone could suggest, say, a "best of" a la what Jonas suggested above.

I mean, that is half the idea of joining a producers' forum, is to hear amazing new stuff hot off the mixer.

artists that post in ylc whose music is always quality include Jonas, Fred McGriff, yan_G, Braintree... good luck getting Fred to post music though!

I used to post stuff in there about once a month and would constantly be checking out any new stuff. But I haven't been on there for about 2-3 years now, but can't really put my finger on why that is ....

i'm fairly new to this site, and i've never really had that much time to spend on composing music, but i'll post a track there once every few months and usually look over other peoples stuff a few times a month.

i'm pretty picky though so i know if i'll like a song after the first like 10 seconds. a lot is acid, dancey stuff that turns me off quickly and most stuff seems to be made without that much effort.

Reason for edit: why is this autoplaying?..

I thought that was weird too.. I just used the media tag. Maybe one of the flash parameters is off?

I submitted a song last weekend and I had no comments until I had to PM a few users to make them know. :(
