superstix Posted August 11, 2010 Share Posted August 11, 2010 As irritating as it is to us, I suppose giving your band a name like this is an easy way to associate yourself with this whole 80's nostalgia / movie soundtrack / chillwave movement that's hot right now. So if you see a band named Ficheal J. Mox or Jennifer Jennifer Beals or something like that, people will automatically know what scene you identify with. spratters Posted August 11, 2010 Share Posted August 11, 2010 I agree with the twisted use of names from yesteryear is a bit unusual and not needed but I've got to know the music of Joy Orbison now whereas I've never been a fan of Roy. So in my opinion Roy Orbison is the copy of dear old Joy Orbison. Well not really but that's how I'd like to think of it if you don't mind.
