Additionally, if you're concerned about privacy there's a good firefox addon called better privacy which is useful. "https everywhere" only works on sites that provide https support on all pages. most don't, unfortunately. Most of the social networks do luckily, just not by default which is retarded. Find out what wireless chipset your laptop has, google the model number plus "promiscuous mode". Also, you probably need to run everything as administrator.
