all the percussion is from samples recorded in the garage.. mowers shovels boxes paper sand bikes and such... voices are the phone booth conversation in 2001 a space odyssey with his daughter. """

what jumps out at me is the bass seems to be real compressed and chunky. nice textures. a bit dynamically surprising in a way. moments where the bass is clamping the mix compression.

Okay... cool... great feeds... I did some re editing and slowed it down a bit... I used a cv splitter to get the inverse of a trigger release... this allows percussion to play on the release end as a back beat. in this case it's more of a synthy slider that wooshes after each beat... i reduced the bass a bit, but still have it over compressed till i can work out a balance on how i like it to crush but preserve background noises

I agree about the bass clipping.

The drums are really smooth, I really like em, I dunno if its where they were recorded or what but the very nice. And nice use of vocal samples.

It could do with being longer, maybe a key change or cadence in those chimes.

I'm going to try some of that key change & cadence

You changed out your symbol for rephlex. I kinda alternate between these to see what sticks out

JBL studio monitors

Grado open ear (kinda busted)

Sony closed ear basic

Galaxy note ii ear buds

Any suggestions for some monitors?

I really like where the voice occasionally overpowers everything on the first mix. Reminds me of 1969 live at lighthouse, when the voice suddenly becomes MASSIVE near the end (or at least what I imagine it sounded like in person). It's a good track that wants to keep going, I think!

this has some kind of trippy feeling, dreamy, very weirdo-dancing'ish vibe... screw words, the track speaks for itself :3
