  1. He's played some... interesting things so far - going on a gong rampage right now, with occasional unintelligible ramblings in the background. Now some reggae-sounding stuff...
  2. iOS users can use TuneIn to listen to it as well - I just checked and it shows up there as well. 50 minutes from now guys! It will be interesting to see if he does indeed play anything from Exai... but how will anybody know if anything's from exai or not?... lol. unless he says, of course... Well, obviously he would have to say so, or provide a playlist during or afterwards...

  4. Valve's released the final spec for their SteamBox (supposedly named "Piston"):
  5. Yeah, yeah, I know - but specifically the colours - the earthy brown, green, etc. All evoke similarities. I personally think it's just abstract art, and probably was created because it "looks cool" and there's really nothing behind it.
  6. it looks like a QR code to me Would be neat if you laid all four disc sleeves out in a pattern you would get a QR code for a bonus track (like the one included on the Japanese release)...
  7. Yeah, I couldn't care less about Minecrap as well, but in looking at the squares and the colours, it reminded me of it.
  8. Looking at the Exai artwork and packaging again, does anyone else get a Minecraft-inspired vibe from it?
  9. That too :) Just checked my emails - got the following on 23/02/2010 early download Thank goodness they got smart and provided a digital download early!
  10. Sorry, but that site in itself is a piracy facilitator, so no posting such links. My bad. I get it. I thought the part on the site that basically said "we don't post download links" made it cool. Anyways, I dont want to get into it, but as an extension of this logic, google is a piracy facilitator and any links to it should be deleted too. Anyways, carry on with your debate guys and please dont ban me. LOL - "extension of logic" always leads to illogical results. Providing a link to a site whose main purpose is to inform people that something has leaked ahead of an official release is CLEARLY a piracy facilitator, whereas Google, unless someone purposely searches for a leak, isn't cluing you in on anything.
  11. Nope, you're wrong - what about people who work for trade magazines - you don't think they get stuff months before release and discuss them? Of course they do. You're confusing discussing that it leaked with facilitating the ability to get the leaked release by providing information to allow them to do that. There's no moral argument here - downloading copyrighted material is illegal, and the only reason people still do it is there hasn't been an effective way to catch and punish the violators. What we're trying to achieve here is twofold - prevent this site being a source of leaked releases, and respecting the artists and labels that make the music we're so passionate about. And yes, there's a legal aspect to it as well - as owner of the site, I could be held responsible for the actions of the forum members, despite disclaimers and the like. That was one of the driving reasons I changed the rules to get rid of the porn/explicit material on this site as well. Nothing is going to change the fact it's leaked - and saying it's leaked is also fine, just don't provide means by which people can more easily get the leak, and damage potential record sales for Autechre (or any artist for that matter). Discussing how cool it is and your opinions of the tracks if you have heard it is actually beneficial in my book, since that will increase hype for the release, and hopefully everyone that cannot resist temptation and finds out how to download it will also make an effort to actually buy the release when it comes out.
  12. Sorry, but that site in itself is a piracy facilitator, so no posting such links.
  13. You're being silly - discussion about the album (whether you're an insider or you downloaded the leak) is of course fine - just don't discuss how you got it in any detail that would be helpful to others. I personally would keep the whole "how" out of the equation, and certainly share your thoughts about it, since that's what this whole site exists for and thrives on. If anyone of their own volition privately PMs or emails you asking how you got it, that's up to you privately to decide if you want to tell them or not - however open requests for that info (or open requests to send them the info) is not allowed. but if for example i post my thoughts on the full album and given my widely known attitudes towards music sharing it's like i automatically tell everyone to pm me for direct links, and i'm not alone in this. maybe you should just ban me till march, lol. Surely you're capable of discussing the album and not "oh, and I got it from [] - just PM me for details!" Like I said I can't stop you or anyone else from privately discussing and sharing links, but the idea here is to not put them in the forum for everyone to see and potentially use/abuse. Keep in mind too these forums are heavily indexed by Google, so by posting info like that here you are enabling others to simply use WATMM as a pirate link. i think that many people who post in this thread will likely be buying the album anyway.. there's no proof, but i'd guess the proportion of try-before-buyers vs. pirates will be higher here than elsewhere regarding this release. so it's basically more like opening the christmas present early than stealing it (it is soooo tempting lol).. anyway, not trying to question authority here, just saying. :] You're probably right (at least I hope so) but the fact Google indexes this site heavily permits the more casual pirates to simply get what they want easier, and from an authoritative source.
  14. Let's keep this all in perspective - we're all Autechre fans, we all like their music, but why encourage people to steal their hard work, and potentially take sales away from them? Could you sit down with Booth and Brown and laud their music, all the while knowing you took sales away from them by telling everyone where and how to steal their release even before it came out? In this day in age there's really no excuse for piracy - music is cheap, and readily available to anyone with a computer and internet connection - I could justify downloading something in the past because the physical article was so hard to acquire, but these days that's gone by the wayside.
  15. No - Again, the whole idea of WATMM being a "facilitator" of piracy is what we're trying to avoid here. Same goes for talk along the lines of "search YouTube for -" type posts. That's more of a gray area, since we can't obviously police YouTube (and not our responsibility), but we can certainly dissuade people from seeking out the material on YT as a way to pirate it.
  16. Please everyone read the Announcement at the top of every forum index regarding posting links to leaked copyrighted material.
  17. Now, let's not go overboard - Dead Space 3 will probably be as awesome as the first two, so don't assume just because EA is publishing it, they have any input on the game - Visceral Games seems to be very independent in that regard, and I would hope Insomniac is likewise. Resistance 1 & 2 were good, not great games, and I haven't played 3 either (still sitting from last Christmas!), but it was received fairly well like the previous two. I suspect in this regard, EA is just being a publisher rather than hiring a studio to create a game for them (aka MoH). I'll also add the MoH games were shit because they were shit, not because EA published them, but because they chose a studio that didn't know what the fuck it was doing (wasn't it Sledgehammer Games or some studio like that?). The first MoH game exemplified that in the single player was shit (Sledgehammer), and the multiplayer was great (DICE).
  18. In my eyes, about 95% of all games released nowadays look like that. It's a sorry turn of events of such a creative medium that this has become the norm. Agreed - Insomniac (makers of Ratchet and Clank and the Resistance series on PS3) are behind this, and for their first cross-platform game, they went with what looks like an incredibly generic sci-fi shooter.
  19. You basically described all of AE's output post-EP7... *runs*
  20. I downloaded the demo for it - extremely bizarre gameplay, very creepy music (very good too), but seemed a bit repetitive and didn't warrant any further interest from me.
