Texas Senate has passed a bill to eliminate a requirement that public schools teach that the Ku Klux Klan and its white supremacist campaign of terror are “morally wrong”, including two dozen curriculum requirements dropped in the measure, along with studying Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, the works of United Farm Workers leader Cesar Chavez, Susan B. Anthony’s writings about the women’s suffragist movement, and Native American history.

tried watching this again after years. still didn't like it too much.

    Spoiler

some of the characters (like alabama) are very endearing, while others like "the hit men" are just cartoons.

just slightly above meh for me

this has to be one of the strangest films i've ever seen. on paper- this is a straight narrative- but the filmmakers have made some really awkward choices (incredibly amateur "wannabe" shakespearean dialogue, unnecessary 90s music video type edits and an overabundance of transitional wipes) all while everything is delivered with an extremely focused and unflinching conviction. it's also very removed from reality but seems to be trying to make a message about the drug trade and corruption (?)

i think this film works better as a character study on the people that made it rather than the product they created

The Amazon rainforest is now emitting more carbon dioxide than it is able to absorb, scientists have confirmed for the first time.

The emissions amount to a billion tonnes of carbon dioxide a year, according to a study. The giant forest had previously been a carbon sink, absorbing the emissions driving the climate crisis, but is now causing its acceleration, researchers said.

looks like we now need to get rid of the amazon coz it's not helping things. maybe replace it with an amazon mega warehouse?
