pretty interesting and strangely intriguing documentary about the largest retirement home in .us (basically disney world for geriatrics) and the various old fogies living there. sometimes it's filmed like a narrative feature, while the rest of the time it's a straight doc- and produced by darren "i ripped off perfect blue' aronofsky.

The only thing I'm beginning to have a grasp on regarding NFTs, is its dire environmental impact, but still not understanding its appeal for anything other than spending a lot of money to hopefully sell for a bit more money down the road. Its mere existence is really upsetting me. Who thought of this, and are they being punished appropriately.
some people genuinely believe in the future of cryptocurrency and NFT's - similar to how there were early believers & adapters to mp3s and social media. there are people who buy NFT's so they can implement them in virtual spaces (eg. in land for rent or advertising). the environmental impact is just a hurdle to overcome.

this was brilliant. loved every second of it.
watched this right after. basically, louis theroux's therapy for missing out on the tiger king craze despite interviewing joe exotic before the netflix doc ever happened- then realizing most of those guys signed a contract prohibiting them of participating in another doc about tiger king. bummer

actually the only thing i don't like about it is how everyone involved (except the filmmaker) is dodgy AF. one minute they've never heard of something, the next you find out they've been down with it all along.
the 8chan focus is because that's where Qdrops originate from and part 2 goes into the history of trolling (from 4chan anons to 420chan gamergate to 8chan Q before spreading everywhere else). there's one hilariously awkward scene where a guy is defending his reasoning for frequenting 8chan so often (supposedly to aquire Qdrops) in front of his wife and acknowledges "thank God my wife is not on 8chan" he then goes on to explain why:
"remember i told you honey, there's gore there and pornographic stuff and all kinds of other things" and his wife dutifully nods and answers "yes you told me once and I just never wanted to see any of that" then laughs awkwardly.-

Mathematicians Find a New Class of Digitally Delicate Primes
Michael Filaseta, of the University of South Carolina, has helped prove the existence and extensiveness of “widely digitally delicate” prime numbers — each is so sensitive that changing any of its infinite digits makes it composite. Here, his sweatshirt lists the first 20 digitally delicate primes.
