    Spoiler

i've been thinking about this for a bit and realized: i think the writers felt that dexter needed to end at some point and have been trying to resolve the series in a way that made everything final. the problem is that in todays climate (with reboots, re-imaginings and things ending with hints of a spin off) we've acclimated to not accepting resolutions that are final. this series- needed to say it's over.

Started it a few months ago but just finished Narcos:Mexico 3. Not a patch on the first two by a long shot. Really disappointing.

whenever i go on netflix, there's always a reminder for me to continue with that (narcos) series. since columbia i'm not sure why i lost interest- but theres only so much you can watch about drug dealers before the whole thing begins to feel repetitive.

i remember watching this as a long time ago as a kid, but this re-watch really soured my opinion of it.

    Spoiler

firstly, i found the dad really annoying. from the eye patch to his demeanor. the film even begins with scenes from famine from around the world and people gorging themselves with food at a restaurant before getting the heads up that human society is collapsing before captain eye patch decides who can come with him and the fam to some farm somewhere.

then the rape. the director really waited for the wife to get rapped like 3 times before he decided "and then you'll come in and shoot the rapists".  each scene, removed from the context of the film probably would just stand out as a cheesy scene, but after being strung together with edits and music - it didn't work for me.

  4. right wingers are in a jam. while trump tries his best to distance himself from jan 6th, most right wingers have taken the leap to convincing themselves it didn't happen. fox realized this when they called biden's win, but congress hasn't caught up because they were the target.

enter tucker carlson: he noticed ted cruz acknowledging jan 6th in congress and gave him a call to appear on his show. ted, innocently assumed it's more "talking points" he has to repeat, but tucker seems adamant he explain himself. ted doesn't seem to understand why tucker is doing this and keeps repeating his chestnut that he was taken out of context, but tucker isn't buying none of it

  5. recently found this group of people that believe humans have been in contact with aliens since WW2 and there have been covert government kidnappings of various people around the world to aid in some kind of galactic conflict with different alien beings.

a few (lucky) individuals seem to have come to the realization that they were these soldiers (known as super soldiers) and began a network for therapy (?) and/or sharing their story (whistleblowing). the guy below is one of the most prominent although they also have some celebrities such as this guy who fought against the martians for almost 2 decades or this lady who was a nacht waffen (dark fleet) pilot i.e. the bad guys
