  1. I was originally thinking Surfing On Soundclouds as one of the potential unofficial titles for just one of the many unofficial releases from this soundcloud dump... Specifically the ones that sound like SOSW... Of course there are saw, hab, icbyd, rdj -sounding tracks that could be given a title the same way... Im also totally open to using titles that sound less "like a bootleg" although in terms of accuracy, these would be essentially "bootlegs" if we were to compile them and sort them into albums as is being mentioned. Example: Nirvana - Outcesticide bootleg.. Even though those were mostly previously released, it was the collection of them that was unofficial l
  2. Love that orange minimal soundcloud one too.. so are gonna vote on art and do something "official"? are we calling the collection "Surfing On Soundclouds"?
  3. Remember the "New Release Speculation Based On Facts We Have" thread? Lolol Weve all gone from desperate and praying to overwhelmed, giddy and euphoric in a matter of months. Remember all the skeptics / unbelievers and the diehard believers regarding new afx? Those days are over (: ... At least for the next 3 yrs.
  4. But I'm clearly no mastering expert so I may be totally wrong Edit: even tho track sound very homogenic so I bet that in that, some kind of mastering was needed I'm not a mastering expert either, but I just listened to Come to Daddy (mummy mix) and a few tracks from HAB on my sound system back to back with the Metal Beat track and the Baby track from the soundcloud dump, the official releases have a lighter less beefy mastering touch done to them, at least on these 2 tracks. I like the way this Metal Beat one sounds especially, reminds me of the way Minipops was mastered. This could be all in my imagination but I'm leaning towards the idea RDJ is either mastering (some of) these himself or had someone do it. edit: the theory im proposing, that if some of these are already mastered (maybe the ones with track #s) its good evidence at least some of these tracks will get an official physical/digital release indeed!
  5. I was wondering the same, but my own answer was that these track clearly show that "mastering" may be a very overrated process i.e. good sound production, good recording and good mixing are what makes what's referred to as "mastering"But I'm clearly no mastering expert so I may be totally wrong All of them sounded mastered to me so far. I imagine for the tracks that were just snippets or weren't planning on ever being released, RDJ may have just ran them through his gear to master them himself (considering his list of gear contains what many actual mastering engineers would lust after). when you're that entrenched in sonics and have that level of skill, you can do a damn fine job mastering your own stuff despite the whole rule of "never master your own material".
  6. i cant stop listening but i need to stop cuz im getting nothing done at work lol
  7. 9 Leeds Orbit is some TASTY NASTY FUCKING ACID!!!!!!!!
  8. love all of it! Nice work so far! and an honor for my idea of the phrase "Surfing On SoundClouds" used as a potential idea!
  9. If i were compiling these into a series of "unofficial albums", i'd put 11 Phlangebeat into the "On Ep Pt. 2" folder ... What say u now Brisbot?
  10. cutting, make a baby, etc etc etc etc *pinching myself to see if im dreaming
  11. ^ Plus imagine the fun we can have with album art! Needs to package it all up as an iTunes Extra... Agreed, that would be awesome if he did. What do you think about creating unofficial titles and art though if he doesn't?
  12. We should take these 70 some tracks and categorize them by vibe/estimated era/theme etc and create "bootleg" album/EP names for them.. Ex: *SAW 85-92: The Outtakes *Joyrex Tape Too *Surfing on SoundClouds *Analogue Bubblebath Pt. Infinity *Harmonies From Halebop :D Just thinking of them as one giant release would be pure injustice IMO Edit: We could create a thread dedicated to voting what's what and to categorize! would be fun
  13. This is too good. This is the best day in Aphex Twin history. and certainly the best last few months.
  14. if this ever happens again it should be an international massive eventedit: and another! lol!
  15. LOL I just totally went downstairs to the cafe in my work office building to get some breakfast, and straight up casually said to the guy who works there "so aphex twin just put out a bunch of unreleased tracks from his back catalogue on his soundcloud". (keep in mind this guy is i'd say a 44-year old Nascar loving middle american good ol boy whose cultural experience would prob be limited to his Country Thunder Festival outtings with his family). He just looked away and made a weird quiet "uhhm" grunting noise haha then 5 seconds later after another customer asked him about something he was cooking for him, i randomly absurdly say "Today is a good day". He must have imagined me as some insane person off the street talking complete gibberish hahahaha social experiments are fun

  17. As much as i do dig this sound, its charm is very reliant on production, mixing and mastering, like a lot of dubstep is, not that thats a bad thing. this is good fun i think the sophie stuff works so well because of the interplay between the vocals and the music/production. plus there's more of an element of sickly sweetness (esp those slow night slugs portamento times) which helps it transcend any triteness. agreed!
  18. Just wanted to clarify, i do like this style of music and pc music's material.. Just mentioning that i think most of what i like about it is the slick futuristic production.
