Speedy J is an underrated legend, I love(d) everything from "Ginger" up until "Shocking hobby" after that he put on his straight techno boots too much for me. "Patterns remix" is still amazing, "Pull over" still sucks. Going to dig for the gold I've missed, good to see another great artist on my favorite music/shop platform.

Heh. I remember seeing him live some 20 years ago, and as a stupid teenager I handed him a note with "Pullover?" written on it. He laughed and tossed it away. Still think it's a bit of a tune tbh, but I think Jochem kind of, understandably, distanced himself from the tune. Cool to see it's part of the collection nevertheless.

  2. Lots of interesting stuff in this thread, I'm unable to eloquently translate my ideas so as to make them a valuable contribution but here's a youtube video that's not actually really related to the original topic but since Rubin brought up polyrhythms...

Essentially saying rhythm = frequencies = pitch, but there's nuances and it doesn't totally hold up as the guy himself explains towards the end. Still a great watch, I had to struggle through the initial ted talk vibe a bit though.

  3. Took a nice long shower, tidied up the kitchen a bit and went shopping. Return from store and I'm putting some stuff in the fridge. Last to go in are some cans of beer, the cardboard that they are in manifests a structural weakness and some cans fall on the floor. Of course one of them explodes and starts spraying fucking beer everywhere. My face is sticky, my floor is still sticky after several rounds of wiping and the soles of my shoes are sticky. This is the 6th or 7th goddamn can of beer that has exploded on me this year. I stopped buying Guinness for several months because I had 3 cans that started spraying after being slightly scratched or something while in my backpack and I noticed that the walls of the cans had become thinner, it seems they are back to normal now but now Heineken has decided to skimp on the packaging. Fucking fuckers.

    Yeah, this looks really nice.

How does it feel to finally be able to start making music? :emotawesomepm9:

    Haha. Very funny.

If you'd know that the chair slightly pokes your back, there's a psu making a weird whining noise and there's a funny smell sometimes you'd realize what an absolutely ridiculous proposition you're making. Also I'm not wearing the right shoes right now, so...

Redid everything at least twice since I last posted, I think.
One of the things I’m most happy with is that I finally slapped together a stand that allows the 19” rack to stand on its rear. Cut a hole in the top for slightly easier access and cable routing, and can also access everything when I slide under the table on my back.
Not sure yet if the large-ish Yamaha mixer will stay, and would love to move all drum things (including out of shot tr8) to where the mixers and patchbay are but can’t figure out an ergonomic way to do it and I’m kinda sick of reorganising now. Hoping to mod the bx8 with individual outs somewhere in the coming months.
Over the last year I’ve only sold stuff, the mixer I already had, and for some reason have been totally gas free for ages (having no money helps, I guess) and I’ve been pretty content with the setup. There’s only a few things I’d like to add now and then I think I’ll be done for basically forever.

i honestly think this will help

there are lots of other (more thorough/general) ways to think about it but this is the simplest convincing argument i know of

Really appreciate this, thanks. It helped. Although the 0^0 threw me again, I think I understand the problem with dividing by 0 but then the casual mention of 0^0 being 1 as if that makes perfect sense re-fuelled my maths rage a bit.

Since YouTube has shrouded the dislikes count, then Reddit should do the same with their downvotes so you can express a potentially unpopular honest opinion without fear of reprisal.

Just express the honest opinion, there's no physical component to downvotes. Unless you get doxed but that holds in any situation, voting system or not.

  8. It makes absolutely no sense to me that anything to the power of 0 is one and this for me is the ultimate proof that I will never understand maths at any level and anyone claiming that maths holds some universal truths isn't willing to see that any intersection of mathematics with reality is based on coincidence and cherry picking. Maths is made up, not discovered, fuck off.

Ive actually started googling this stuff up. I admit I cannot find the stats about influenza and death rates.

now im even more scared. when you google covid death per 100 000. in the world, they say: 666

Country Deaths per million Deaths Cases
    World 666 5,248,669 265,423,384
    Peru 6,036 201,360 2,242,646
    Bulgaria 4,176 28,805 702,454

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_pandemic_death_rates_by_country

    https://www.google.com/search?q=covid+death+per+100+000&rlz=1C1MSIM_enCA923CA923&oq=covid+death+per+100&aqs=chrome.0.0i512l2j69i57j0i512l7.4241j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

iirc many did look up if the stats were legit. and they are directly from Hopkins. In the video, the stats shown are the death rates iirc

He never got sick from anyone spitting in his mouth, or kissing. Getting someone's spit in your mouth is a way to get sick. Kissing someone is a way of showing affection. Immune system pee pee poo poo.

That's what I got out of it anyway.

My immune system is bad so I'm not going to ask around for spit in my mouth any time soon, but if you've got a good immune system this is probably a good point in time to start experimenting with spit.

The real question is what spit in your ass is going to do. I need at least 5 of you to help me find out.

I appreciate it. But that's not what I'm reading there.

Anyway, you got yourself a new volunteer! Just gotta relax a bit.

yeah, I think the last stats for people under 50 who dies of covid is something between 0.02% to 0.05% fatalities.

and stats surrounding covid death are quite telling. over 80% of people who dies of covid have over 2.5 factors of co-morbidities. something like 50% are Vitamin D deficient, ect.

the influenza was by many factors more dangerous for people under 70. Covid is more dangerous then influenza for people over 70 years old

As if im really a paramedic, I was a year ago and I hope ill be able to come back: the way it looks though is that it might not be possible.. I'm not a paramedic as in today for multiple reasons. I have many paramedic friends obviously

Not trying to be an asshole here but you ignored the first 2 questions and instead rephrased what you already said. Are these stats about case mortality or overall deathrate? If you'd link to the stats then I could go and look for myself. I mean, if the stats you link to provide this info.

Hope you're able to go back to work soon.

iirc, the data is still clear today, the influenza death rate for under 70 years old is much higher then it is for covid (that is pre-covid since the flu is basically gone in 2019-2020). Its for people over 70 years old, that covid is slightly more fatal. its established data. The fact remains that at your age, you have 0.005% (not sure of the exact numbers as of today) of dying. Influenza is much more deadly for people your age.

so my question, is pre-covid, were you so afraid of influenza? if not, why?

Do you mean 0.005% case mortality or like general population death rate? Where did you find this clear data?

    Are you really a paramedic?

  13. Would find it super convenient to have some sort of postblast/multi-post panel added to my interface which enables me to post the same post across multiple threads without having to go into each one and posting. I'm thinking that a list where I can check off the threads on the first 2 pages to which my post will be submitted (or posted)  plus the ability to search for threads that I then manually add to the list (I'm thinking either checkboxes or radiobuttons with "post / do not post" of course by default everything would be set to post) would initially be sufficient. Would be super convenient for me and looking to have this feature implemented ASAP.
