Since his return from the benzo episode, he's a bit...how shall I say ... cookie.

And I'm sure there are plenty people arguing he was cookie before. But I hope, regardless of whether you think he was cookie before, we can agree it has become worse. Way worse.

He's now one of those large soft cookies.

    So who's dragging who where?

Why go to twitter when you get the information straight from Putin's mouth? It's not like there isn't plenty of video of Putin saying exactly what he means.

I don't really care about who's dragging who where. Russia invaded Ukraine, that's a given, no going back from that. Presenting situations like this as if it's a match and you're asking people who they're rooting for is totally absurd to me. I can only feel empathy towards citizens, not states. I can't fathom speaking about a war in this binary, for or against, way that you are asking me to do. Citizens die, people lose their homes and lives are destroyed. Who cares who started it? I was voicing frustration about Biden's boilerplate (as I understand a bit more clearly now) response. I kind of expected the excessive expletives and ridiculous yearning for Trump would make it obvious that my post was intended as a way to blow off some steam. Is it cool to do that here? Probably not, but I feel safe here, on WATMM.

I don't go to Twitter for information. The only reason I have a Twitter account is so that I can troll the Dutch cryptofascists (the Dutch FVD party that is trying to destabilize society and politics in the Netherlands in a similar way that Trump and associates did in the US) that have been gaining traction. It's a pointless and shameful waste of time but I allow myself to indulge in it from time to time. I just happened to be on Twitter when the invasion started and my twitter/trolling session spiraled out of control.

Anyone able to extract the true meaning from Putin's speeches and is able to extrapolate from this what his intentions are, I am in awe of. Truly.

So, Russia invaded Ukraine, but somehow it’s the fault of the west that war is starting?

That's not what I said, but thank you for misinterpreting my eloquently worded post.

lols.. that's pretty standard stuff really.. what do you think trump would be saying? "putin is genius let him have ukraine.. they all speak russian anyways"

trump would be hanging out looking annoyed that something interrupted his planned golf weekend at one of his properties. he'd phone in whatever he was told to say.. say somethign about NATO being stupid and then he'd let the whitehouse spokesperson go on foxnews to deliver his message.

I know... it's the last sentence that triggered me. I'm afraid of what is happening, and frustrated from wading through a swamp of dreck and misinformation on twitter. It's like being held hostage by a maniac with a loaded gun and Biden has decided to take the role of tough guy upon himself and you're kind of stuck in between just wanting to go home.

  4. Starting to yearn for the Trump days now that Biden is spewing his retarded war rhetoric. Fucking moron is going to drag us all into WW3. Goddamn son of a bitch.

    As Russia's invading Ukraine:

"The prayers of the entire world are with the people of Ukraine tonight as they suffer an unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces.

President Putin has chosen a premeditated war that will bring a catastrophic loss of life and human suffering.

Russia alone is responsible for the death and destruction this attack will bring, and the United States and its Allies and partners will respond in a united and decisive way. The world will hold Russia accountable.”

  5. Got a secondary job as a fairly ok paid mechanical turk in addition to my normal job but it turns out that the secondary job is way more stressful than I anticipated. Also feel like I've lost the ability to deal with increased stress without engaging with the thoughts that accompany it which tend to then become darker and darker which in turn of course increases my stress levels. Vicious fucking cycles.

dedicate time every day. i get up about 3 hours early and end up putting in a bout 2 hours of music time in the mornings. i end up feeling burnt out by EOD but that’s ok! it’s been way better for me than when i tried to stay up late because my energy was all zapped and i couldn’t focus.

but yeah you could also try communal living somewhere cheap and try to avoid a job or setup some passive income with a web scam of some kind

Was gonna more or less post this. Not sure if this would help with achieving the mindset you describe but one thing I occasionally struggle with is that I generally feel it's easiest for me to get some creative work done during hours when I'm certain I won't be disturbed and I feel the time is entirely mine to do with as I wish without feeling guilty about procrastinating on something else. This has always meant losing a lot of sleep but then I started to realize I could also wake up early and use that time. Although admittedly I've only dabbled in this as I've been stuck in a go to bed around 3 and wake at 8 routine again for over a year. But hypothetical me goes to bed around 22, wakes up around 5 to meditate and pursuit creative endeavors and then leaves for work around 9. It's amazing, thoroughly hypothetically recommended. In theory.

And also, yeah, make sure you have your stuff all set up and configured and then just sit down with it for a bit, I think often the pressure you can feel when you make yourself sit down with the intent to "make music" can be enough to start loathing it and it becomes a chore in and of itself. Keep the goal initially just to spend some time with your gear every day or every other day and perhaps you start falling into a new routine.

I know at least with the Faderfox, you can configure locally. But I do agree, any device that won't let you configure locally will likely become either dedicated to whatever it's setup for at the time, or a brick.

That Electra is cool but it's like an iPad with knobs on it. For the price comparison, I'd rather have the Faderfox.

That's a very apt description. And although I've no experience with the UC4 it must be said that Faderfox makes really, incredibly solid controllers. I've been using the FX3 for +5 years and bought a 2nd hand DX2 a couple of years ago. The DX2 was covered in a layer of muck when I got it, think it had seen some heavy shit go down during some parties or something. Had to take it apart entirely and clean it, it's been functioning without so much as a skipped value. Also I've contacted Mathias twice with some questions that could've been easily ignored but he replied pretty much instantly and above and beyond what one might expect giving support and info on long discontinued/oop devices.

You make some good points. I also don't really feel fit to be discussing this in much depth LOL so cheers    No idea why I even posted here tbh.  I don't even use spotify, and I think this entire situation is ridiculous and cringey lol

    Thanks, toaoaoad. Cheers!

The misinformation that is being spread is literally killing people.

Also:  They're a private company. Censorship by a private company, of content they are voluntarily hosting, is hardly as heinous as censorship in the context you seem to mean it in (i.e. government censorship), nor is it necessarily "censorship" at all but rather just a decision to quit peddling a shitty product that is hurting people.

(sorry for multiple edits, I'm braindead and need to get off the internet)

I've been editing my last post and this one over and over. I'm incapable of properly expressing what I'm trying to say and when I read back what I wrote I keep thinking I sound like some sort of troll or conspiracytheorist apologist so I'll just have to accept that this topic is too complex for me to participate in in any constructive way. Just can't help but trying to throw my lame views into the mix every now and then.

Just one thing wrt to your last remark; I understand and I have made that argument as well in discussions with friends but I think it's not as strong as it used to be because of how huge some tech companies have become. In the Netherlands (where I live) for example the intertwining of government and privately owned tech companies is increasing rapidly and because of some proposed developments wrt further digitization and centralization of a lot of public and financial services this will increase quite a bit over the coming decades. Not trying to imply any malice or anything here but it does make me nervous for a variety of reasons, which admittedly can probably be mostly traced back to my general sense of dread and fears/insecurities about the future.

    Lol what censorship.

I'm not saying censorship is being carried out, but it seems to me that requesting information or content is removed from any platform is calling for censorship. Don't get me wrong, it irks me when people start crying about being censored while they clearly aren't and that seems to happen constantly. But demanding, from a certain position of power/influence, that something is removed because you find it objectionable and trying to sort of wield that power by saying that there will be some sort of consequence if what you object to isn't taken down rubs me the wrong way. Would've felt slightly different about it if Neil Young would've left spotify and then announced why he did so.

I'm also an idiot so I'm probably missing something obvious that would make this line of reasoning collapse instantly.

Just to add; I am aware that people spreading misinformation can be dangerous but I think often the actual impact that these people have or could have is overstated and it invites people to see the world in even more of an Us v Them kind of way.

  11. Leftism was a huge part of the soundtrack to my life between when I was about 12-19. Saw 'em live a couple of years ago in a club, was alright but I could not believe they didn't use the "drugs in canada" vocal sample when they played space shanty. Kind of lost all interest in them because of that.

  12. almost irllol at all the twitterers tweeting their approval at spotify for supporting free speech and being #american and not realizing that their decision is most likely based on the 300 million dollar contract that's involved. Gotta say though that even though Ek's an asshole and Joe Rogan a fool I'm glad that money was able to be a force for good once... seems really short-sighted to support censorship, it sets a dangerous precedent and drives the poor souls who've let themselves be hypnotized further into the clutches of populists and solipsistic demagogues. imho

I'll probably wait until everything else is sticked and then have them send it without the one IC that's been consistently 4-6 months behind the second longest backorder (even with the original order that specific one wasn't supposed to be here in September 2021 and a couple other parts were delayed a month or two, but I wasn't ready to start building anyway) and try to source that one somewhere else in the meantime.

Which IC would that be? Maybe I can help, it's somewhat unlikely but who knows.

  14. They look like they're CGI's imho.

It's past midnight and I'm eating some macarons for dinner because I just got home from work and all the shops were already closed and I can't really afford to get anything delivered and I can't be arsed making any effort beyond opening the fridge and a box. Was gonna post this in the FWS thread but since it's a bit of FWP and FWS decided to take this beauty of a post to the YPT&O. Hope everybody's well.

Could you tell me which Theme you're using? I'm guessing it's a caching issue (with the theme)

I just checked but it persists across all themes except WATMM Classic.

And it only happens on threads where Guest is appended prepended to the thread creator's username.

  16. I’ve become really bad at replying to WhatsApp messages and I feel terrible about it which then makes it probably even more unlikely I’ll muster up the whatever the fuck I’m lacking to be able to respond to a short written message in a appropriately timely fashion, so that I can feel a little bit worse about it the next day. I feel like I’ve been depleted of energy, which is total bullshit, and everything/everyone is slipping through my fingers, which is true to a certain extent, and there’s nothing I can do about it, which is bullshit because it’s not that difficult to maintain a small number of low-key social contacts. But I just can’t anymore. What the fuck.
