    Weren't there a bunch of other juno's before this that were also digital and didn't have that much to do with 6/60/106? I bet they just went with the esthetic and it's actually also a bunch of other classic vst's at the same time.

     

    I fail to understand your disappointment btw, if roland would do an og rerelease of the juno don't you think it would cost about as much as a used juno? 808 & 909, I could see them retailing for around 2000,- local monetary units which I guess would probably save you a couple of grand but on a juno? I dunno. 

     

    Korg doesn't do clones btw. Or did I miss something?

    But yeah, flol at huge company not restarting production on some machines they made decades ago that are now being released by other companies at a pricepoint they will never be able or willing (this is is speculation ofc) to compete with. Especially after their ceo or chief of design or whatever has stated (several times, I believe) that Roland as a company want to look to the future and is not interested in going back to techniques they no longer use.

    Holy shit that went fast. I read some article about twitter's cashlords wanting to have a chat with elon about maybe buying the website while stuffing my face before going to a show, back 5 hours later and the deal is done. 

    I'm not sure how correct this info is as I might be missing context or whatever but the article I just read says that he wants to offer an inclusive platform for free speech within the confinements of the law. (two seperate quotes but same wording and meaning, I think). And this makes me kind of hopeful that maybe he will run twitter into the ground? I mean, apparently he's not aware that twitter is an international platform so what is considered free speech within confinements of the law is going to be different for each user and he probably already alienated some of the (usually misguided right-wing (in my experience anyway)) hardcore freedom of speech absolutists who tend to get very upset when words such as "inclusive" are used because that means they might have to deal with people that get angry at them for (re)tweeting stupid shit. So in my mind he's gonna have 2 fairly large pickles to deal with from the get-go and hopefully this will take long enough for the majority of the userbase to become alienated without any good alternatives being available. Elon will lose interest and Twitter will wither and die. Meanwhile the Zuck is fucking himself with meta. Would be such a blessing if these ridiculous out of touch cunts that are fucking the world over by buying into something that has nothing to do with actual day to day reality and human interaction but do carry a disproportional potential weight making things more horrible on an hourly basis for everyone everywhere en up falling victim to their monomanic megalomania. I feel more and more hopeless about everything on a daily basis but this might be a blessing in disguise. Please Elon, don't fuck this up.

    No. You do get a free minijack headphone adapter thingy though. 

    Also, the cables come in one flavour: 1.2 meters, male minijack at the other end as well. I guess at the scale this mixer is at that is plenty of length but if you're gonna have something that is not also incredibly tiny on your table it's not hard too imagine a scenario where you're gonna need a longer cable to have your machines arranged the way you want it. Plus possibly some adapters to go to 6.3 jack. So gotta toss some mono F to M minijack cables plus mono 3.5 to 6.3 adapterplugs/cables into the mix there.  

     I get the esthetic appeal of a lot of the stuff TE makes but every time I see their offerings I can't help but think I'm looking at some very niche market electronic waste and this hedonistic approach is as much as a throwback as their designs are. But I guess the entire point of TE is that they make stuff that is very well designed, clever and super neat but quite limited, a bit obnoxious and naive at the same time. Feel like I suddenly understand how they've come to name their company.  

    I'm also really curious as to how many of these units will be produced on the first run, how big of a market is there for something that's kind of a impractical hyper-practical tool? Otoh I see they also offer a wide range of clear/translucent splashwater proof pouches and bags that seem to me mostly useful to people driving convertibles in gated communities.

    It's been annoying me for a while. I keep my laptop in clamshell mode mostly, and regular browsing and whatever never requires the fan to start up, but Live seems to start using the fan no matter how complex the project is. ?

    Might be worthwhile to look into giving your mbp a good cleaning on the inside and possibly also refreshing the thermalpaste on the cpu.

    I did this last year for my 2011 (lol) mbp that was running its fans at what seemed pretty much full capacity all the time and it's gone back to only fanning up occasionally, still going strong (fingers crossed). I cleaned it out previously a couple of times but I think redoing the thermal paste is what did it.

    Might seem slightly daunting at first but if you go step by step and take your time it's very easy to do. I spent some time reading thermal paste discussions and settled on the gc-extreme paste by gelid. I'm sure other pastes are fine as well (as long as they're not electrically conductive). Besides the paste you'd need some form of canned air to blow out dust (keep a vacuumcleaner next to you to blow the dust into), brush is handy too, some cotton swabs, paper towels and isopropyl alcohol for cleaning off the old thermal paste and some gloves (keep your hands clean and prevents getting fingerprints on the heatsink after you've cleaned it). You'll also need some torx screwdrivers, the sizes you need for your particular model can be found in the various ifixit guides.   

     

    Oh, and I'm able to run Live 11 on my 2014 (I think) MBP without constant fans. Do think having it in clamshell mode reduces its ability to dissipate heat somewhat as the wrist resting areas besides the trackpad usually get fairly hot. Also possibly somewhat reduced airflow into the fans but not sure about that.

    Good thing! Last time you mentioned making your stuff available for streaming the only Ignatia were some surfer-reggea-songwriter guy with dismal esthetics and someone releasing recordings of burning wood.

    Have been looking on and off for some affordable primer for aluminium that comes in non-spray form for weeks and tonight I find a hardware chain that has all the hammerite stuff on sale with 35% off. The entire hammerite range can be ordered online except for the primer which is only available for click and collect. Which means I have to bike over 40 minutes back and forth for this fucking paint. Good thing I have a low-paying job so my time is essentially worthless but it's nonetheless annoying. 

    Additionally I hurt my leg two weeks ago after jumping off my bike when the chain flew off while I was going downhill which meant I could no longer brake. One of the pedals slammed into the back of my right leg, it hurt immensely but I thought I was overreacting. A couple of days later I realize it looks like I'm wearing a blue boot because off the blood that has spread under my skin and it's all sagging towards my foot sole and spread all around my calf and such. As the swelling subsided over the last couple of days and the bruising spread some more but became less intense I'm left with a more painful leg than I had initially and I have two purple and blue toes. I'm considering a visit to the emergency room but that's gonna take ages, wonder if they'd be alright with me popping out to go and get some paint while I wait.

    I seem to have become one of those people that's plagued by ultrasound.

    My apartment building is situated next to a very active waterway and there's a dockyard visible from the window that's behind me as I'm typing this. At nigh I've always been able to feel, and sometimes hear the larger ship's diesels but since 6 months or so it's been getting quite intense. Right now it feels as if my whole floor is wobbling/pulsating and it's starting to worry me a bit. I suspect it might have something to do with the building finally settling (it was delivered about 6 years ago, I think and afaik it would be around this time that all the concrete has actually completely dried/cured/whatever concrete does. In addition to nightly wobbling there's also been piledriving every single day of the week, starting at 7 am, finishing at around 15:00 across the road from us. Only partially ultrasonic, unfortunately. According to my phone my monthly hours in bed average over the last 6 months is a little over 4 hours. FML. ain't even gonna fix this wall of text.

    Putin’s intentions are not difficult to discern: he yearns for the old days of Soviet strength, and he has made that clear in his speeches, and more importantly, his actions. 


    of course you should feel safe to vent as you want here, and my retorts were never meant with any ill intent (I don’t harbour any ill will to any current WATMM members), so my apologies if they came off as such.
