  1. mothafuckin hells yeah my earholes are ready ya'll 727 looks so weird sitting next to cs80 in a gear list lol
  2. The ticketfly page has been updated "DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING AMOUNT OF RUMORS WE THOUGHT WE WOULD TAKE THE TIME TO CLEAR THE AIR - APHEX TWIN IS NOT PLAYING AT 1720 TONIGHT - HE WANTED TO, BUT ULTIMATELY HAD TO PASS THE TORCH OVER TO HIS RIGHT HAND, IGIRL.. SEE YOU TONIGHT IGIRL/HAM ON EVERYTHING"
  3. Quick search yielded this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CliFIYWjPQ So Nina Kraviz was there last night? Fuck! I wish I could make it out there tonight.
  4. Would be a laugh if it turns out that Come to Daddy onesie only comes in in adult sizes.
  5. Sick. My cassette bought on the bleep store came addressed directly from mr. Aphex Twin who (after a little expert sleuthing on my part) apparently lives in a nondescript office building in the middle of an industry park in North Carolina.
  6. Lol at the 90s ravers just discovering footwork. Shit's the most interesting thing rhythmically to happen to bass-heavy electronic music in the past decade and it's been influencing wider artists at least since Machinedrum - Room(s) in 2011. It shouldn't be surprising to see RDJ still exploring and applying his mastery to new genres as he's done countless times before. If you can get past the abrasive vocal samples used as percussion in the earlier footwork releases, turn up the bass and give it a chance. Required listening: Bangs and Works vol. 1 & 2, Planet Mu DJ Diamond - Flight Muzik DJ Rashad - Double Cup Jlin - Dark Energy and Black Origami countless Chicago footwork battles on youtube
  7. Oh damn, I was there and I hadn't even realized. He also played Guantanamo, Infrared and Erotic Heat; I remember thinking wtf is that Jlin?? Before it started pouring and the temperature plummeted. So it goes back to 2016 at least.
  8. The more I listen the more convinced I become that Jlin and RDJ are like best buds now. The beginning of abundance with the pitched rapid-fire polyrhythmic kalimba, claps and kicks is like something straight off of Black Origami. I love it. You can absolutely tell these two have been chatting and swapping works-in-progress over the past couple years. And I'm talking specifically Jlin, not footwork as a genre. I hear very little of the typical tropes like repetitive vocal samples found in earlier footwork releases e.g. Bangs & Works or Double Cup, though most of that shit is absolutely mental. Whereas any of Jlin's most recent output from Black Origami, w/ highly syncopated and experimental clean percussion samples, almost "post-footwork" or "footwork idm", would sit well beside any track on Collapse. It's like they're using a shared sound palette and approach to writing polyrhythm. E.g. Compare abundance with Carbon 7: Metrically I feel like Jlin tends to prefer triple meters, playing with hemiola, switching between 3/4 and 6/8 or layering the two almost to overuse, while RDJ is pretty firmly rooted in 4/4 with insanely intricate subdivisions. There's the "collapse" in T69 and that weird moment at 2:07 in pthex but hell if I can work out what's going on there. But on top of all that, the Primavera track a.k.a. MT1 was played on soudcloud during Mike Paradinas’ "An Hour of Jlin" mix for Bleep last year, credited as being by Jlin & Unknown. So Jlin and RDJ have at least been in contact and sharing tracks since then. Anyone else hear the similarities?
  9. Mental. I can hear Jlin / footwork influence. Rapid-fire percussion all over. The pitched sample tweaking is next level shit. Wde variety of delays and reverbs getting dropped on particular sounds in the mix while others are left clean. Pthex brought the acid, yay. Is the shouting dude at 00:50 in 1st 44 from the same source as Mangle 11? First listen had to be a quiet one since my wife is sleeping and I'm wearing open-backed headphones. Gonna blast it tomorrow.
  10. I'm kinda glad I missed the hype on this one. I'm cool with waiting a couple weeks for release and don't really have any desire to seek out the leak.
  11. Cool, I just ordered a cassette and CD from the web store. I'll try to find some random record store on google for the special edition vinyl if it doesn't pop back up at Amoeba or Bleep.
  12. Fuuuuuu. I preordered on bleep and nabbed it there (luckily) but I was planning on getting a 2nd copy at amoeba... but I slept on it. Yeah, I guess I'll just Google around until I find a record store that has it up for preorder and have it shipped to CA. But that's kind of a bummer Amoeba looks like the only place in southern California that has it for sale.
  13. I've been off social media for the summer so I've totally slept on this release so far. I had no idea. I was flipping out last night listening to T69. Good shit. Is the special edition vinyl sold out everywhere except those reserved for record stores? I'm not finding any places around Los Angeles that have it up for preorder..Amoeba is out of stock. Should I just search up a random record store that has it available and have it shipped at this point?
