true. this is top 5 AE material right here. Incredible textural richness and a super hard, ever-changing rhythm. bravo!
  2. when I was 13 or 14 I got the Spike Jonze Directors Label DVD from the library and while flipping thru the clips I stumbled upon the trailer for the Chris Cunningham DVD. Being fairly blown away by that clip I got obsessed with Aphex/Squarpusher and not long after that I discovered the Second Bad Vilbel & Gantz Graf vids. I was already used to weird music back then (a lot of which I knew because of my paps - playing Stockhausen, Steve Reich and Wim Mertens on the car stereo) but AE was a different thing, a more funky thing. I guess this was the time when I turned from a more casual music listener to the full-on obsessed music geek I am today
  3. that got me thinking about other occasions where they've reused certain sounds on multiple tracks... that metallic synth thing @ 1:11 on tac Lacora is the same as @ 1:11 on prac-F synth patch starting @ 2:30 on Tilapia sounds similar to the main one in Cichli pendulu hv moda & carefree counter dronal obviously use the same sound palette same drums on n.th Dafuseder.b & d-sho qub those are the only ones i can come up with at the mo
  4. kek i thought so too yeah some parts are rather cringey, but not as cringey as the good old 5.5 exai review from p4k
  5. great review for german-speaking AE heads: https://skug.at/entromantisierung-im-sinne-der-sinnlichkeit/
  6. i'm completely in love with column thirteen. what a gorgeous track!
  7. all end reminds me of imaginary country-era tim hecker, so all good overall an incredible effort. while I still haven't connected with elseq (and quite frankly never will probably, too many annoying tracks + absence of great track-to-track-flow), these NTS tracks are an instant "hit" for me despite the 8 hour running time. I'm playing with the thought of copping that 12xLP box set still not sure though lol. also I loved the idea of the live transmissions so we could all experience these tracks together danke sean & rob!
  8. 9 chr0 reminds me of Osla for n: strange, industrial noises that fall into a groovy rhythm as the track progresses still hoping that AE + EL-P collab is gonna happen some day
  9. tt1pd is just too good to be true. The dark atmosphere is reminiscent of Exai tracks like 'spl9' or 'prac-f', the beats are straight out of Unitlted (not literally, but the progression of the rhythms reminds me of that era) and it has an Elseq-esque scope. Thanks, AE!
  10. yes wonderful track. there is so much compositional variation/dynamics in there. plus it's fucking bangin
  11. when Exai came out, I found it really tough to listen to the whole thing in one go - all the details seemed to blur together and I didn't know how to approach an album with that kind of running time. now, we already have twice the amount of material but it doesn't seem as menacing or inaccessible to me - quite the opposite actually. I've been listening to both sessions every day now in all kinds of scenarios and they seem to go by really fast. In terms of track2track flow, I think the NTS sessions are much better than elseq. Needless to say, I've also fallen in love with Exai since.
  12. dummy casual @3min 32sec is that the imessage sound effect?
  13. just received the vinyl and gave it a spin. what a fun, sonically diverse record! MoM prove once again that """"experimental"""" music doesn't mean it has to be pretentious chin-stroking bullshit. fav track: foul mouth
  14. love that flute-y background synth. strange feelings
