  1. I don't think Ridley gives a shit about keeping continuity with AvP. As far as I am concerned, I don't consider them canon at all, they fucked up the continuity by themselves already.
  2. Hasn't there been talk that there will also be an R-rated cut? Yes. http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/ridley_scott_is_shooting_for_both_an_r-rated_pg-13_cut_of_prometheus
  3. According to the timeline on the Weyland industries site, there has not been a merger between Weyland-Yutani. The Prometheus mission is strictly a Weyland enterprise. I hope this movie doesn't explain the the derelict ship on LV-426 and this movie is about a whole other space jockey ship. However, what transpires in this movie is probably why the Company is on the look out for more of these places, thus having Ash on a mining ship in case they find something.
  4. These trailers seem to give away a lot of the plot and big set pieces, so I wonder if there might be something big that is not in these trailers that be a big twist.
  5. Second the recommendation. I always get stuck watching that program if I stumble on it, no matter what album they are talking about.
  6. Seriously, it's not that fucking hard. I do not understand people who cannot even cook potatoes.
  7. I wouldn't consider the AVP movies canon. They are awful anyways. Who thinks it's a good idea to combine two R-rated franchises to a PG-13 turd.
  8. I think it's Squarepusher. Sounds like him. And AFX/Rephlex fanboys sure get worked up about little. This is nothing special. Rephlex hasn't released anything groundbreaking in years, just slight re-imaginations and re-interpretations of well treaded paths from years ago.
  9. It's a blue moon. And the ManC champions league winners 2011 tattoo confuses me. What's going on there. Is the dude just an idiot?
  10. I wonder if oscillik would be as dismissive about movies if he lived in the era of silent movies and those bastard studios would be pushing "talkies". Those bastards, if I wanted to see a talking movie, I would go to the theater!
  11. that's like saying the reason everything looks so clean and sterile in Phantom menace is because 'the empire hadn't fuck everything up yet' it's really because big budget hollywood has an obsession with sterility and clean looking sets, not for any other reason at all, im just disappointed ridley opted for a scifi look that appears 1,000 times more polished (in a bad way) visually than Bladerunner or Alien. ( i am mostly just referring to the trailer, not the still) Well it makes far more sense that they are not space truckers. Does it make the movie better if the look is grimy and rough? If there is someone to blame it's Apple for this sort of slick and polished look in sci-fi. And lets face it, you are talking about movies that came out 30 years ago, things have moved on from then. Today we have thin LCDs, why would a spaceship in the far future all of a sudden have a monochromatic CRT? Maybe it's the nostalgia talking.
  12. Bump for new pix and bonus ass from trailer. To draw conclusions about this picture on how the movie will look is probably premature. It looks like a production photo and it doesn't have the digital color grading that is inevitable with movies, so it will probably look much different. And watching The Hobbit production diaries they mentioned that they need to consider that some colors don't work so well in the digital medium and therefor use much more powerful colors on their sets. As for the aestheritcs (Mass Effect-y, which is not a bad thing) I have no trouble with it since this is about well-funded expedition looking for humanities start or something similarly epic. Still excited about this movie. Bonus ass (Charlize Theron's?)
  13. which makes it even more unbelievable that it's a prequel. The more we go into the past the more sheen and clean things get? It doesn't work for me at all. It's not as bad but similar to how the Phantom Menace and the star wars prequels felt more futuristic than the original trilogy. Prequels are a bad idea. I can't believe ridley scott did one. But the difference is that this crew is a well-funded expedition and as I said, we have not yet seen what the state of the art tech looks like in the Alien universe. In fact, I think it would look even more stupid if they had 70s style computers that fill a room complete with Christmas lights blinking and monochrome CRTs dumping a bunch of numbers. And as for the Star Wars prequels, the reason I heard for it looking more slick than the original trilogy is that it was in a time of high prosperity and it's been on a decline ever since the Empire got established who monopolized all the cool shit for its nefarious needs. I think people are getting too bent out of shape from a minute long trailer and production stills. I for one am not bothered by the difference in tech aesthetics, just because it makes sense from the reasons I stated earlier.
  14. We've never seen what ultra-slick and modern looks like in the Alien universe. We've only seen space truckers, weathered space marines and a grimy prison planet (Alien Resurrection does not exist).
