  1. okay maybe I should read the last few pages of the thread. I think I missed something. But I don't feel like it. Oh well.
  2. Hey I never told that guy he was wrong. I never even responded to him. I don't even remember his name. If you remember it's the guy that rated the album a 2/10. Like how could the whole album just be that dull? He's the only person I've seen doing that too. I have responded to a few people wondering why, like if they could verbalize why they don't like something purely because I'm curious. Though I GUESS I should add the disclaimer that I'm curious verses I'm pissed off that they don't like it. I personally don't care for 180db for earth portal too much, except the end of earth portal. That said there are a some things that are annoying me about the criticism.. like that it's not innovative enough... stuff like that. I don't get that. So I ask.
  3. I was taking the piss, and imo it's ridiculous to suggest that someone expressing their dislike for something is 'probably a troll'. If his post had like a mean spirited tirade about how everybody who loves Syro has shit in their ears you might have a point. Too much think-skin ruins a good forum like Watmm. Don't bother, he hasn't been able to understand that some people may just not like the album. In his opinion they're either wrong or trolls. He had like 14 posts and every post he's posted so far was negative in some sense. I haven't seen any other kind of post from him. Which is why I think he's just trolling. His posts also sound angry in some way. I see no reason to join to just to post about an album I don't like. Plus I think we're not talking about the same guy. This other guy was like 10 pages back. And Hokus you've got me all figured out don't ya.
  4. if you have below 100 posts, seriously get the fuck out of my face. It's like really? You want me to think your noob ass has a valid opinion? unbelievable Post count makes your opinion more valid? Get the f**k out ma face. Just shows that you have less of a life. Just kidding but, your attitude whiffed a bit. I think John were taking the piss out of Limpy ... Well that one guy with like 14 posts obviously joined just to post that he didn't like it. He's very probably a troll.
  5. Where does aphex do this specific sound better?
  6. I personally think Syro is head and shoulders above Drukqs. Partly because of the composition, but also the fact that he's about 50 times better(exaggerated) at mixing stuff now. I mean The whole album plays with the stereo field wonderfully and lets him fit even more into a track without any elements taking over. And the bass is amazing and poppy in all the right ways, even if there is a weird distortion in tracks 1 and 2 when played at the same high volume as 3-12. If Drukqs was reworked for whatever reason with these new mixing skills of his then that would be great! I should also mention that Drukqs doesn't take the bass frequencies anywhere like Syro does. Aphex has only gotten better is what I'm trying to say. There's a very clear trajectory from SAW to Syro where he just gets better. This is very probably my favorite album of his so far.
  7. I bet you'll change your mind. The time scale is unknown though :P
  8. And I'll skip those 10 seconds for you every time by now on. Cheers
  9. Funny, I noticed this as well. I think I can safely say it's the first time I disagree with a compositional choice of his. Sounds fine to me. If you have a problem with it then you'll be disappointed in like a fourth of the RDJ album jees.
  10. Aside from this dick replying to dismiss peoples happiness over the artist this forum is essentially dedicated to in a sense -- like a fun and happy human being... The post above makes me really want paella. With a side of panacea. Lighten up toots, it's a party!!! (Puts headphones back on) You're damn right azatoth, it's just frequencies! But then you get it way wrong when you say 'life changing'... well I regret to inform you that you're just a collection of atoms. That's right, just as inconsequential as the frequencies that go into your atom-y ear and interpreted by your atom-y brain. It's just life ffs... atoms going through space and time.
  11. It takes you on a journey from beginning to end.
  12. it doesn't make any sense. If they want to hear more music they should drop such a dumb critique immediately. Do they want him to release the 'best' 13 tracks he's made in the past decade once a decade? I mean He could do that, but I'd like to hear more personally. I want to hear anything he's willing to let us hear. If these people don't drop this innovation shit, then I want them to start applying it to everyone. Where is Taylor Swift 'innovating'?
  13. I was going to give this album a 5/5 or a 10/10 or a 1/1 but I realized it wasn't innovative and didn't change music forever as we know it for about six months so I decided to give it a 0/14 since the lack of innovation somehow preys upon my enjoyment of the fucking frequencies that are coming out of the speakers. I also didn't wear socks while it was playing so gonna bump that down to -2/14.
  14. It's all been one elaborate ploy to fool you. And you fell for it.
  15. WAYYYY Too soon. Ask again in a year... then ask again in 5 years. Then ask if **** ***-** or whatever is better than Syro and whether or not ??? is better than Drukqs and if Xtal is sexier than Syro + ??? - ****-*** and so forth and so on into dawn.
  16. Interesting. I just looked it up and one site starts off the meaning of the name with "You are patient, persevering and strong willed". Lol. I also think it suits the mood of the album somewhat. Haha yeah! Very much so. 'Keeper of the Hours' also works well with the mind-bending nature of the titles too, in a God kinda way, and also with the cover art - being a literal, physical notation of the costs during the time leading up to release. Screw it, it makes sense. "Syro: Keeper of the Hours" it is. I've said this several times before but it's been 113,000 hours or so since the release of Drukqs....
  17. lol sounds nothing like it clean your ears dat irony Sure it sounds similar, but nothing to write home about. Not that you'd ever write home about that in particular. Would you?
  18. I guess it depends on what you want to hear in a track. As versatile as Aphex is, he never really veers into Autechre 'territory' or Ceephax 'territory' and so on. Cept Squarepusher, plenty of that... and Luke..
  19. I was expecting an A+++ from you and a 15 year wait... kinda disappointed.
  20. I keep switching stereo to headphones and back again. Love it on both.
  21. Haha! That's uh.. well that's funny.
  22. Sounds more like nostalgia for 80s-90s video games than BOC
  23. This is the best album I've ever heard now. Wtf. First listen -pretty damn good! Second- Holy shit! Third - WHAT THE FUCK IT WASNT THIS GOOD LAST TIME O.o
  24. I teared up near the end of Syro u473... That track is perfect beginning to end DAMN.
  25. I'm thinking this, but I haven't listened to it enough to decide. Definitely growing on me very fast. My first listen wasn't as exciting as my second.
