I fucking HATE it when people don't show up on time. How fucking hard can it be?
Growing up in Ohio where people are generally on time every time, and then moving to California was a bit of a culture shock. Everyone here bakes in another 5-10 minutes for people to be late. So weird.

Zeff's whole strategy of negating the atrocities that China has committed is "the US did it too." Ad nauseam.
Why don't you just look at the atrocities as atrocities and defend no one? There's no one in the this thread defending the US for the terrible shit its government has done.

Oh dear, I was so happy with having killed all bosses with all characters about a year back.. I feel I almost have to go back..
I can't bring myself to update it. Once I beat Delirium with The Lost a couple times, I just said fuck it. I have music to make.

My new employer sent me a work phone and a laptop in two different packages that required a signature. I wasn't around when they were delivered so the phone was sent to a nearby store for me to pick up, but the laptop was just automatically returned to them instead. Tomorrow is the onboarding process and I have to use their computer to access it. I hope I don't have to do all this on a phone...
So I did the onboarding on my computer, but I'm still waiting on the laptop. In fact, I need the laptop to access the phone. It took them a couple days to send me a new one and it's taken a couple days to ship it to me. The signature is still required and the buzzer in my apartment building doesn't work so I'm getting up and looking out the window every two minutes and afraid to take a shit since we'll have to do this all over again if I miss it. I've basically missed my first week of work so my anxiety is going off the charts. I can't use anything but a company-approved laptop for security reasons.

one time i took a shit on a beach using an industrial sized roll of toilet paper i stole from a mcdonalds. tp was not very good & took up most of my backpack space. i buried it using a couple of sticks i found in the bushes nearby. skidoos were going by in the lake on the distance
Sounds idyllic, to be honest.

What a fucking monster. She’s like those people who quote whatever the current Fox News “statement of the week” is. I can’t stand being at social events where you see the same person go around and tell the same story to everyone they come in contact with, and it’s just something they heard on Fox News.
It’s like these people are just sampling Fox News into their lives like a repetitive dance track, and instead of going around saying “it’s time for the percolator” they’re just bumping into people saying “why should I pay taxes for that” or whatever the fuck they are going on about at the time.
I did a dance thing with this crazy QAnon lady. We should make a subgenre of cheesy early 90s dance tracks with that terrible electric piano that samples conservatives saying dumb shit.

weird site, good read: https://components.one/posts/bandcamp-the-chaos-bazaar
can skip most of the details in the charts if you're not interested, text summarizes it well enough for the most. lots of 'info' in the first half, lots of shitting on Spotify in the second (so imo a very good article).
Interesting stuff. Their conclusion here is questionable, though (page 11, 'Domestic Generosity'):
QuoteOn average, buyers are more generous to artists in their own countries. This is not specific to certain countries or regions, and it appears to have nothing to do with relative currency strength. It is true for every single country in the top 50 countries studied, and it is probably true for those beyond the top 50 as well.
Fully elucidating the meaning of this graph requires volumes; in an earlier conception of this project, it was the report's main focus. But we're not even halfway done, so we're going to keep this part short: People are compelled to spend money on things with which they self-identify.
I would say that since you're more likely to know artists from your own country then you're more likely to pay for and be generous to artists from your own country. Another interesting notion that should have been entertained is this question; how many people that bought music also upload their own music? Since its main audience is independent musicians, then it also makes sense that musicians in a scene buy each other's music (like we've seen here in this very thread). So rather than forming an abstract conclusion like the one they came to, there's a more concrete argument that can be formed.
There's also this bit towards the end:
QuoteThe company should also step into a more experimental mode of operation that a totally behaviorally oriented business model demands to fully work. If people spend more on artists with whom they share a city, see if directly promoting work in their cities induces more spending.
Sounds like they're advocating for ad targeting, which is something I hate and love that BC doesn't do. It feels a lot more real and honest without aggressive marketing. I do like being able to browse by city, too. It was pretty handy when I was booking shows before the pandemic.
At any rate, it was a nice read. Thanks for sharing.

One of my nurse friends said that they were asked to report cases of vaccinated patients contracting covid again to the CDC. That must mean it's more prevalent than previously thought.

yeah.. that's pretty tone deaf at a minimum considering the chinese gov't. anywhere else it'd be innocuous language.
even w/entitled vibes it's a crazy story. and his analysis of how things progressed regarding the gov't interest in him is a good example of bureaucratic momentum. it's creepy. he does sound a bit bougie and stuff but a lot of people would complain about shitty hotels when fleeing a country. still, it seems silly to mention prostitutes, low level criminals etc.. but whatever. maybe he didn't think a whole lot about that part and was just speaking off the top of his head.
No doubt. He's right, but you get an idea for his mindset/motivation just by hearing his word choice. Also, at the beginning of the first video, he's talking about reasons why he thinks China is great and his town/NYC are inferior, but he's really just describing the mindset of someone in their 20s. Yeah, it's cool to finally have money and live in a big city. That's not endemic to China.
It doesn't change his argument, I just find that portion distracting.

That first guy sounds entitled as fuck though. "Conquering Northern China" might not be the best title for your motorcycle video, bro.

A nice guy I knew when I previously frequented a local bar died yesterday. Didn't know him well but had a lot of good times. Not sure where to put this.

you should have given it to the woman you're currently stalking, the one who dresses in black. "hey can I buy you dinner?" then hand her the pizza box and run away.
Good idea. It's probably still in the compost bin for me to fish out.

I ordered a pizza the other day with pepperoncini but they put on pepperoni instead. I don't eat meat. They made a new, correct one, and gave me a refund, but now I have a meat pie in my fridge I can't eat. There's a bunch of pepperoni residue that makes me sick if I eat it.
